This was recorded before iron flame came out...if you read iron flame I think that might help you feel a bit happier 😂 you dont write an entire book with a main theme like that only to do a 180. I think the whole 'violet is the main character' Is a really sneaky way of saying that violet will get the happily ever after she chooses and.... well, yeah, I think violet made a choice in iron flame
Idk if they will be endgame but I’m sure they don’t get other love stories. They’re still building their relationship 2 books in. And I think that, to change that in the 3th or 4th book, isn’t really the style of the book. It has a lot of building up in the story so to put in a random love interest half way the series seems a bit random. Also, looking at how iron flame ended..
i know Xaden for sure says he sees them as endgame and Violet seems pretty all in, but w the ending of Iron Flame and no ‘cure’ in sight, I think anything and everything is up for grabs. In an interview she talks a lot about how in the next books we’ll get more of Violet riding the wave of Xadens secrets so i definitely still hold out hope.
I’m a little confused by the only drawing inspiration from western dragons to avoid cultural appropriation comment… how would incorporating cool aspects of, say, Asian dragon lore into her writing be “cultural appropriation”? We’re all human. Art should be inspired by whatever authentically inspires the artist, be it from their own culture or others. Non-western cultures are beautiful and inspiring too… It feels like as a society we are really inhibiting artists by making it taboo to find beauty and inspiration in other cultures and incorporate that into their art without being accused of appropriation, assuming the depiction isn’t culturally insensitive of course. I would think people of other cultures would enjoy and appreciate seeing their cultures represented in art made by people of another culture as long as it’s well-researched and the inspiration is genuine.
I’m glad she’s slowing down and not pushing herself/being pushed by her publisher to get the next one out insanely fast. You can tell Iron Flame was rushed through, more editing and tighter writing was needed for sure. Hope the 3rd one is the best yet!
She keeps saying Violet is the main character so what does this mean? Does this mean Xaden and violet isn’t end game? I prefer Xaden and will be devastated. I don’t think I could continue if they’re not end game
Dain gets a “bad rap” because you made him a two-dimensional unlikable character in Fourth Wing. He had no personality, we never got funny or nice friendship moments between him and Violet, it was literally just him sounding like a broken record telling her he didn’t believe in her and she should leave over and over and over again, so there were no redeeming qualities for us to like about him in the first book.
That's not true. He's one direction character but not reminder... you don't road all? Everything about him it's in Violet words. He's direction, it's compatibility with his actions, and with his honor code.
Could not get into the book. The excessive profanity was a turn off. Violet comes across like a self insert not a flesh and blood character . Gave the bookmto charity.
Have you read "Fourth Wing"? 📚🐉
Oh yes. It made my dragon, kick butt female character, and morally grey character loving heart SO happy.
Yes! And Iron Flame.
Yes both ❤
Can’t wait for book 3 Iron Flame🔥 was amazing ❤
You don’t write a book that quickly unless you also enjoy the story right?
Great interview!
Love Author Interviews. Always get good insights. :)
Thank you for a fantastic interview.
I need confirmation, and I can't find it anywhere 😢: Are Violet and Xaden endgame?
well… she very specifically says that she believes in happily ever afters, BUT Violet is the main character, so… I wouldn’t get my hopes up

There’s a lot of hints that we may lose tairn.
If x is separated from sgael in book 3, then we could lose both of the mated dragons 😢😢😢😢
