My skin has been freaking out lately! These tips are so helpful. Also I think contributing factors can be stress levels and poor hydration. Seems like my over-reactive skin gets even worse when I’m not drinking enough water, sleeping poorly and extremely stressed.
I love these types of videos from you. I'm more knowledgeable about skincare now, but you truly saved me by teaching me about skincare in terms that I could understand!!!
I love these tips! I've incorporated them all into my daily routine and would like to add one more: If you have made all these adjustments and are literally breaking the bank with reacting to EVERYTHING, it's worth googling Mast Cell Activation Syndromes. I mention these because dermatologists don't know about them. They can make pre-existing skin conditions worse and usually have other body system involvements. If your derm is puzzled and shrugging, it's worth seeing an allergist specializing in immunology. Many derms, allergists, and GI doctors test for COMMON allergens and not "intolerances," or MCAS criteria. If it's like rosacea or seb derm or something that would make it into an episode of House, definitely check out immunology/rheumatology or an OD. I had this problem for years and it turns out my immune system has a reaction to "oh, a thing touched your skin that isn't your skin!". lol
These tips are really helpful, coming from someone with a sensitive skin who's been following these for a while. I'd say these are the main things that helped me: 1. SLEEP. sleep, sleep, sleep. I was living alone, studied, worked, cooked, and found time for my hobbies but I was constantly lacking sleep. I would fall asleep every day after studies, then I would work and sleep again from about 2 to 5 am (yes, that's not enough) and got up at 5 to start a new day. Even though I tried to find the time to sleep during the day, when I moved to my parents after graduation, I started sleeping 10-12 hours instead of usual 6-8 and that changed my skin the most. I stress much more here, but stress isn't even such a big contribution as SLEEP. so please sleep 2. not washing my face in the morning. I did it ever since starting my routine at 20 years old, now, 23, I don't do it anymore, and it really helps though initially I was afraid it would break me out but nope 3. switching to less actives and more hydrating /repairing the barrier routine. I always went into my actives slowly, so my skin was definitely used enough to them for me to use niacinamide every day and exfoliants 2-3 times a week. but my skin started looking much better when I started incorporating more healing products and using even simple actives less 4. pillow cases change - agreed
I would highly recommend people who have tried many many things to go and get tested for allergies. My mom's skin was peeling and very sensitive to the touch even when using some hypoallerenic skincare. After the test was done we now know she is allergic to 3 main things: anything from bees (beeswax, honey, propolis), benzoic acid, and a very common foaming agent in shampoos and body washes (which is often used in hypoallergenic products)! We would have never figured this out without the allergy test. Now we always check the ingredients of every product and her skin has healed and is doing fine ❤
Also don't just get your own allergy tests but go to a doctor specialising in that who can help you do the right tests and interpret them correctly (plus prescribe medication). People often get duped into testing useless stuff like IgG.
Pay attention to WHAT you are washing your pillowcases in and NOOOOO DRYER SHEETS AND SOFTENING LIQUID during the wash cycle! I learned that it can take 30-40 for my face to really clear up from any issues... Try Paula's Choice Calming section For a rash-like breakout, use pyrithione Zinc soap bars I know all the skin people suggest people using hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, but my skin is so sensitive I have to make sure I'm not using those products. I have to use the bare minimum Neutrogena face wash that doesn't even look like anything. It looks like a creamy gel in the morning, and have to use the PZ bar at night.
This video is what I been looking for on RUclips. I have been struggling to finding products that will work for my sensitive skin. My skin reacts to many products. Usually, my face gets really red feels like its burnt to the touch and I break out in red bumps. Thank you for this video Hyram.
THIS IS WHAT I WENT THROUGH IN 2019! I tried everything and found out my shampoo had chamomile (which I’m allergic to) in it. I got patch testing and everything done. I found out I’m allergic to lanoline too, I avoid fragrance & oils, I read ingredients on the reg for skin care now. I started skin care in the 7th grade. (I’m 29)I also cut down to one cleanser unless I had makeup on for a while, simple moisturizer and sunscreen for a while. I really don’t cleanse in the morning for my sensitive skin. Now I use retinol once a week and I’m allergic to some acids (lactic, salicylic, AHA BHA PHA) so I just use the tatcha rice polish 2x ish a week. I swear my skins a lot better and my derm recommended almost all that you said❤
This video speaks to my SOUL, as a person who is sensitive to fragrance, many essential oils, and Sodium laurel/laureth sulfates, finding cleansers and moisturizers for my acne prone, dehydrated/dry skin is a nightmare.
Your videos saved my skin! I switched to the Cetaphil redness reducer cleanser and AM/PM creams and my skin looks WAY better! The alcohol in the neurostrata products were kicking my rosacea way up.
I have very sensitive skin, and have had countless periods in my life where my skin was cranky about everything. I pretty much agree with all your points! They're all the go-to's I've discovered and regularly revert to when my skin is freaking out. Having a good "elimination diet" baseline for skincare can be helpful for sensitive skin. My most recent "sensitive skin" reaction was actually an allergic reaction to fexofenadine (Allegra). I was already taking double dose of cetirizine (Zyrtec) when my Dr added a double dose of Allegra to help with my cold urticaria. It took a lot of trial and error to trace my face's flushing, itching, burning that refused to go away... to my morning double-whammy of antihistamine. /facepalm/ The irony of being allergic to my allergy medication is not lost on me. My Dr thinks it took me so long to figure out because the Zyrtec was making the reaction so much milder than it would've been with out it.
Great information Hyram, thank you! I’ve discovered I’m very sensitive to SLS. I’ve had to change skincare, shampoo and even my toothpaste (because my lips were always extremely dry and peeling). 🇦🇺
Thank you for discussing hair products and diet! I was struggling with KP, inflammation, acne, as well as itchy scalp and hair loss. Went gluten free two years ago and changed my shampoo and conditioner to fragrance free and wow, did it make a difference. I also started using undyed white pillow cases and detergent for sensitive skin (also no fragrance). All the things you mentioned have definitely helped me get long term issues under control.
Hard water is HELL on my sensitive skin! I love CeraVe cleansers & had ZERO issues before I moved to the country & my house has well water. Whole house filter & water softener. Still get hard water spots in dishwasher & shower! Need to get a water softener shower head...

My skin is going through it rn!! second time I’ve broken out this terribly so great timing for this video. Even the aveeno calm and restore oat cleanser burns me like wth!!!
That happened to me too with that product!! I personally got allergy patch testing and found out I’m allergic to balsam of Peru which means I have to avoid fragrance, propolis, and certain preservatives & that includes fragrant plant extracts. I think that cleanser has chrysanthemum extract which is why I personally reacted to it. I found that the La Roache Posay hydrating face wash is basically one of the only cleansers I can use that doesn’t give me a reaction but also feels like it’s cleansing my skin haha.
I have extremely sensitive acne prone skin. After much trial and error I use neutrogena oil free acne wash followed by cerave daily moisturizing lotion, followed by retin-a. If I have a pimple I use mighty patch pimple patches and they are literally magic with no irritation. They actually reduce inflammation. Anyway, everybody is different but this worked for me. And it’s relatively cheap.
Ever since I removed Fragrance from my skincare routine and I cut back on added sugar and dairy in my diet, I have seen a noticeable difference in my skin and how I feel
I saw a dermatologist when I was breaking out in blisters... They did nothing and I later found out it was because I switched from the normal to oily cerave moisturizer to the one for normal to dry
I have Rosacea and KP Rubra Faceii, and the combination of the two conditions on my face has been really hard. I have been trying to keep it simple with the Aveeno calm and restore cleanser and gel moisturizer, and the vanicream lotion at night. Still trying to figure out a sunscreen that doesn’t anger my skin too much. Work in progress. Thanks for the video!
Try Paula's choice skin care calm mineral moisturizers! There is one that comes in a white tube, and it's a mineral, but it doesn't give your face a white cast. And then there's another one that comes in a Blue tube that's very very watery and feels like nothing when you put it on your face. It's also mineral so it sits on your face and doesn't seep into your pores Or try LaRoche Posay
I feel ya, as someone who’s skin issue are cause by and underlying connective tissue disorder, i still have issues even though i have followed all of hyram suggestions for years as well as having my partner eliminate all fragrance from their life. All mineral sunscreens can break me out (tried over 15), though it’s the best I’ve tried so far even the beauty of joseon sunscreen irritates my skin a little…they are pricey but switching to skin fix moisturizer was the first thing that helped me a noticeable amount
It should be an Italian brand which, despite living in Italy, I can't find. Another very valid pro barrier brand, also Italian, is Ceramol. In Europe it can easily be found in pharmacies, especially in Italy and Spain.
I would love to see review of the 2 brands Skin1004 and Purito. Both have been recommended by many if you have sensitive skin and overall use. I been looking into both brands and they seem to have good lineup. But would love to get your take on the 2 brands.
My skin has been really reactive in the past, but I do want to say for people, sometimes the issue is dehydration within the skin. at least for me this was mostly the case. I tried so many. Thin moisturizers with no pore cloggers (made my skin dry out fast), thick moisturizers (clogged my skin and caused breakouts), and it took so long to find a happy medium where I could find the right moisturizer. I am still on the search. But yeah, if you think your skin gets really red or burny or tight, it could be an issue of dehydration. I just went back to a moisturizer I used to use that worked for me.
I am prone to allergic reactions with skincare. One interesting thing is once I had some kind of allergic reaction to products but because of that, everything else I use caused my eyes to swell…. Even after removing those products. Even the coconut oil I used to remove eye makeup. I’m not actually allergic to coconut oil but because I had this reaction from the products I used, everything was causing flairs. It took many months for it to go away. Very odd. Haven’t had something like that happen since. I do still get allergic reactions but they are gone once I remove the products.
butylene glycol.... That's what my skin will not tolerate. It took me FOREVER to figure out what was happening. Finally I got smart, wrote down all the products that made my skin ouchie and made chatGPT tell me which ingredient they all had in common. There were a few but butylene glycol kept showing up. After testing products to narrow it down, it definitely was butylene glycol. I can tell right when I put a new product on my face if it has that ingredient in it because my skin just feels off. SO many sunscreens have this in it. I hate it 😭
Would you have any advice for sensitive skin based on environmental factors? Such as right now my skin is freaking out because where I live just got SUPER humid and my skin doesn’t like it
i know i have sensitive skin. i know for a fact. i also know that my serums are breaking me out, but i just want to be one of those skincare girlies that gets glowing skin from using niacinamide and hyaluronic acid.. but maybe i should just try only using a moisturiser
Hey hyram! Love your videos but skin care and ingredients are still confusing, unsure if I'm looking for a serum or toner. I have eczema but mild in certain bits on my face, and dry skin. I'm very pale so my face is red in places from being fair skinned and the sun since I was young, this has been very bad for my self esteem/confidence. I usually characterise this as an uneven skin tone or pigmentation (don't know if this is right), it isn't from irritation or sensitivity and is constant only worse from flushes, heat or exercise. I only use a cleanser, exfoliant, moisturiser and suncream, I prefer a very basic routine but currently don't have a serum in it as there's so many to choose from. Is it possible to reduce my redness and do you have any recommendations of 1 or 2 products I can try that doesn't dry out my skin. My budget is the inkey list, ordinary, cerave... I'm based in UK. Any replies or suggestions would be so appreciated ❤️. Thank you
I really need a hydrating moisturizer!! I have combination skin but more on the dryer side. I really can’t do fragrance or shea butter. Any recommendations?😊
I love this video! If anyone has great leave in-conditioner recommendations *without limonene (citrus oil)*, please let us hear them. Because I really miss my Olaplex no.6
The Ordinary's Squalene and Borage Seed Oil are my go-to moisturizers when my skin is throwing a tantrum. (Well, hydrator and moisturizer, respectively.)
@@morgianasartre6709 I guess it depends on how you look at the squalene, whether you see it as a hydrator. It helps "lock in" water that's on the skin, so adding it after water-based products (including when skin is damp) can help with hydration. Kind of like glycerin or hyaluronic acid, which both help add or lock in water, but aren't hydrating on their own.
@@MrsRepairTech A hydrator by definition imparts hydration/water, which oils can not do, the hydration comes from the other water based products as you said. Oils are emmolients and occlusives, glycerin and HA are humectants.
So something funny about me. I'm allergic to lanolin but it's when it's in other products. We found out when I was breastfeeding. My daughter that I'm not allergic to lanolin and it's pure form.
This is gonna sound strange but there was a time nothing worked so I started washing my face with plain kombutcha and followed up with a purely charcoal cleanser 3x a week and that seemed to work
@@binabina6196 random but I used to use Complex 15 like a decade ago and recently found it again in Amazon. It’s not the exact same formula as I remember but it still worked well for me. I expensive enough to give that a try! Cetaphil Redness relief night also works well for me as does the Allergo. Are you sure you tried that one and not the Toleriane? They’re similar sounding but the Allergo is the only LRP that works for me.
Hello 🥹, I was just wondering if u can help me out 😣, I’ve been using curology for 2 years now however I see that I’m still not reaching any of my goals. I still get sebaceous filaments and my pore size appears to stay the same (BIG). I’ve recently been doing a lot of research and I’m looking to switch over to the ordinary. Please lmk if this is okay, if u can recommend a toner for me, I’m u said theirs contains fragrance so I wanna use something that is going to be beneficial. I am a combination skin type. So far I have purchased the toner 😖(before I saw ur review), the moisturizer, a nyacinamide serum. I am using an eye cream, I believe it’s called Laniege. I am also using the Kopari marine cleanser that was recommended to me at Ulta. I’m u probably get a lot of these but please help me 🥺. Btw thank you so much for ur content and enlightening me ❤
I don’t know if this is good for my skin but I just use two lush products and it works really well but idk if its ok for my skin if anyone knows let me know
This is why I listen to hyram and not certain hacks on tiktok who swear that 5 different skin brands "saved their skin" because they're being paid to say that. I know y'all know who I mean. 😅
There are great videos on this made by derms on here, so just search "skin purging vs irritation" and you'll get suggestions from Dr Dray, Dr Sam Ellis, Dr Jenny Liu etc.
My problem is I can't use sunscreen near my eyes. I have to avoid a huge huge area around it. I've tried sunscreens you recommended, other skin channels recommended and ones I researched on and every single one irritates my eyelids, the skin under my eyes the skin on the sides, near my eyebrows. Even if I don't put it on near there it runs down from my forehead or I accidentally touch that area after I wipes sweat or water off my face. It's so sensitive. It ends up irritating it to the point where it burns, and I have gotten it so bad that the skin under my eyes peel and the same with my eyelids. Even if I use a tint or foundation with spf..... It cannot go near my eyes. 😔
My skin is extremely sensitive. I thought maybe I had rosacea . I went to a Dermatologist. She said I didn’t have rosacea, just extremely sensitive skin. So I really appreciate this video. I’m 61 so naturally I want to use more anti-aging actives. My skin doesn’t like Vitamin A derivatives. But I would still like to see if I could find one I could use.😊Do you happen to know of a gentle yet effective Vitamin A? Thank you for your great videos!🙌🙌🙌🩷
If you react to ‘everything’, you need to get checked for Genetic Folate Absorption Issues, there’s 7 different types, all easily diagnosed via Genetic Testing & then easily rectified via taking a special Vitamin B called Chelated B Vitamin COMPLEX, we can’t absorb normal Vitamin B, we NEED supplementation, our organs look just as bad.. it’s NOT just a skin issue, it’s a HEALTH issue. You’re also probably Intersex & or have Chimerism if this is the case, most people are not aware. I have both, it’s very helpful to know 🐺 You ALSO need to have an Allergy Test done, full panel including Food Allergies, don’t wait, not fixing these issues shortens LIFE & drastically increases one’s risks for CANCER, especially with time.
My skin breaks out from almost ALL products. So I feel this very much. I also stopped using birth control so this plays into it as well. Even all the "Claming" & "Shooting" Products break me out. After spending a sh*t ton of money testing products that don't make me break out, this are the products I use: DADOSENS Purderm, all of their products except the one with niacinamide (I think its a german based skincare brand, recommended to me by my dermatologist) Bioderma Micellar water to remove make-up (even tho im not sure its the most effective but it doesnt break me out) La Roche Posay Tolaraine Cleansing gel (very gentle) Torriden hyloronic acid and Mixoon Glacier water. Coxir Black snail Collagen eye cream Epiduo Forte (with Adapalen) prescription only in germany. (Bleeches!) use as spot treatment. Unsexy skincare reccommandation "Zinksable Dialon" (german) for inflamed, hurtful, hormonal breakouts (put this on as soon as you feel its comming and it won't break out.) Torriden Dive-in face mask. Sunscreen: Cosrx Aloe-Soothing Sun, La Roche Posay Anthelos Sun screen, Biore watery sun gel DON'T USE ALL AT THE SAME TIME :D We are not gate keeping! :) Will try physio gel in the future, thanks for reccommending! :)

It should be an Italian brand which, despite living in Italy, I can't find. Another very valid pro barrier brand, also Italian, is Ceramol. In Europe it can easily be found in pharmacies, especially in Italy and Spain.
Hyram can you do a building skincare routine from Target? I never know what’s good there! 😢
La Roche-Posay products are amazing!
I would love to see review of the 2 brands Skin1004 and Purito. Both have been recommended by many if you have sensitive skin and overall use. I been looking into both brands and they seem to have good lineup. But would love to get your take on the 2 brands.
Colloidal oatmeal has done wonders for me.
Please make the video your haircare routine hair wash products hair You used etc
butylene glycol.... I hate it 😭
I’ve noticed whenever my skin is freaking out, I cut back everything! Only cleanser, simple moisturiser and sunscreen..
did u use accutane ? your skin is Incredible
YASSS us sensitive skin girlies need to stick together 🫶🏻
What kind of moisturizer do you recommend using for sensitive skin? Should I stick to CeraVe and their daily moisturizer?
I’d love a review of K beauty products for sensitive skin 🎉❤
Yay the OG HYRAM VIDEO!
Also stay out of hot showers! Use lukewarm water at the MAX and keep it quick!
HYRAM!!!❤️ We need your opinion on hypochlorous acid, like in the product Tower 28 SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray.
Another tip: patch test a new skincare product before you rotate it in. Preferably even for 2 weeks in the same spot in your elbow
Thank you
Thoughts on Mario badescu cleanser ?❤
I really need a hydrating moisturizer!! I have combination skin but more on the dryer side. I really can’t do fragrance or shea butter. Any recommendations?😊
I love this video! If anyone has great leave in-conditioner recommendations *without limonene (citrus oil)*, please let us hear them. Because I really miss my Olaplex no.6
The Ordinary's Squalene and Borage Seed Oil are my go-to moisturizers when my skin is throwing a tantrum. (Well, hydrator and moisturizer, respectively.)
But oils are not hydrators...?
This is gonna sound strange but there was a time nothing worked so I started washing my face with plain kombutcha and followed up with a purely charcoal cleanser 3x a week and that seemed to work
ps. and spf moisturizer (an ultra light one)
Your awesome 🤩
Ultra sensitive here! How does the Physiogel compare to Cetaphil Redness Reducer moisturizer or the LRP Allergo?
I tried all three, but my skin hated all of them:(
@@binabina6196 random but I used to use Complex 15 like a decade ago and recently found it again in Amazon.
How can you tell if it’s purging or irritation
There are great videos on this made by derms on here, so just search "skin purging vs irritation" and you'll get suggestions from Dr Dray, Dr Sam Ellis, Dr Jenny Liu etc.
Most people should treat their skin like it's sensitive - fragrance can irritate you at any time, even if you've used it for years 🧐 Not worth it!
This will be a very good video you earned a like
Thank you so much for being here & watching!
❤❤
I literally couldn't stop breaking out in bad acne since I was 15 and turns out, processed sugar was the reason and it's literally every where 🙃
My problem is I can't use sunscreen near my eyes. 😔
Heyyyy I’m earlyyy
Hi boo, thank you for watching!!

Heyyyy :)
I have both, it’s very helpful to know 🐺
You ALSO need to have an Allergy Test done, full panel including Food Allergies, don’t wait, not fixing these issues shortens LIFE & drastically increases one’s risks for CANCER, especially with time.
Why suggest expensive genetic testing before a basic blood test for B12 that will show if it's even an issue?
Hyram!!!! I thought I saw u in a blippi episode 🫣
My skin breaks out from almost ALL products. So I feel this very much. I also stopped using birth control so this plays into it as well. Even all the "Claming" & "Shooting" Products break me out. After spending a sh*t ton of money testing products that don't make me break out, this are the products I use:
DADOSENS Purderm, all of their products except the one with niacinamide (I think its a german based skincare brand, recommended to me by my dermatologist)
Bioderma Micellar water to remove make-up (even tho im not sure its the most effective but it doesnt break me out)
La Roche Posay Tolaraine Cleansing gel (very gentle)
Torriden hyloronic acid and Mixoon Glacier water.
Coxir Black snail Collagen eye cream
Epiduo Forte (with Adapalen) prescription only in germany. (Bleeches!) use as spot treatment.
Unsexy skincare reccommandation "Zinksable Dialon" (german) for inflamed, hurtful, hormonal breakouts (put this on as soon as you feel its comming and it won't break out.)
Torriden Dive-in face mask.
Sunscreen: Cosrx Aloe-Soothing Sun, La Roche Posay Anthelos Sun screen, Biore watery sun gel
DON'T USE ALL AT THE SAME TIME :D
We are not gate keeping! :)
Will try physio gel in the future, thanks for reccommending! :)
I have to always look if my products have HA. My skin HATES it- every product i had with it in it one day just broke me TF out:(
