I am enjoying so much catching up with Miss Phyllis' videos. Her recipes are delicious and she's such a wonderful teacher but it was her demeanor that was so kind and warm that made her such a special lady. May she RIP with Mr. Bucky.

I miss you...lots. .but so glad you are in your reward for eternity! Love that we have your videos to watch! We can keep you near. ❤
Definitely jelly donuts! Kids would absolutely be thrilled with the tiny donut holes. It might be fun for kids to use a flour sifter to coat the donuts with confectioners sugar. Chocolate never hurts.
I am 70 and we loved making these in the mid 50s before you had all the stores. Mom let us poke through the middles and then when Mom had them done, we put in a brown paper sack with powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar or cocoa sugar.....yummy...I am watching this after making your 1950 hot cocoa! Thank you for taking me back to so many memories that were always fun and simple! Hugs....
Glad to have you back Phyllis, what would we do without you!! You always bring back such happy memories for me with your stories of the 50's, a time when I also was young growing up. With all the baking I do I never even thought to make doughnuts with the biscuits! Leave it to Phyllis for the heads up! Thanks my friend and God bless!
Happy to see you doing well. ☺. No time for donuts this morning, but watching you make them is the next best thing to having them! Thanks for making my train ride into the city more enjoyable. 😁. Blessings to you and Mr Bucky!
I'm taking care of my 92 year old Dad tomorrow and if I remember right he has a surplus of those that need used.and I really want to thank you for reminding me about these. Yum. I'm still on the marathon. Feel well. Gentle hug.
I have always called these concession stand donuts. We did these in the 80s at basketball ball games in high school. So sad Phyllis is no longer with us but grateful for the many educational yet ever so calming videos. ❤
Miss Phyllis, so wonderful to see you. Much love to you and Mr. Bucky! Can't wait to try these out with my nephew this coming Saturday. I think he will have great fun making these. They look scrumptious, and so easy to make with kiddos! Thank you much. Xoxo ❤ 🙏
So I kept the heat at medium and now they are perfect! I make them every Saturday as a treat for my husband. I make a glaze out of powdered sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla. They taste better than Krispy Kreme! My husband thanks you Mrs. Phyllis 😊
My Uncle Butch made these & we loved them! Now I make these donuts for my grandchildren & the love them, too! Granddaughter Megan, age 11, is learning to do them. Thanks for walk down memory lane. We'll have to try jelly & cream filling!!
You are looking great! Thanks for sharing that bruise treatment. I'm a certified klutz & am putting that name up on my fridge 🤗 I always adopt my pets and since my mobility got difficult I save the older pets, and it has been the best thing for my soul to make their time left as loving and comfortable as possible 😊 💞
It's good to see back Phyllis and Praise God I have to say that you have healed really well and you still look as beautiful as always Thanks for your homemade doughnuts they look so yummy and I have say they look so much better than the shop bought, thanks again😊
It fills my heart with such joy to see you smile again...Bless you & Mr. Bucky...I hope your hearts are healing, & that you're left with nothing but 18 years of loving memories...(I hope Steely isn't suffering & grieving too much for his dear friend, too)... You've just reminded me of how many times, as a little girl, I'd watch my Mom spend HOURS in our modest little kitchen making my Father homemade cream puffs...His favorite treat...There was no "Cool Whip" back then, & I was always thrilled when she let me beat the heavy cream with the old handheld rotary ??? mixer...I forget... : ) Anyway, it clearly was a labor of love for my dear Mom, & my Father just LOVED those cream puffs...He's 84-years-old now & still fondly remembers those special occasions over a half CENTURY ago...Blessings to all...
My mom used to make these for us. She would shape them into long johns and dip them in chocolate frosting. They were so good. Thank you for doing this and keeping you and Mr. Bucky alive on RUclips. You are sooo missed and loved Miss Phyliss. This was clearly when you were still in good health. I'm so sorry you had to leave us.
Miss Phyllis, I'm so relieved you got yourself the Arnica Gel! And thank you for showing it off on the video, now you will have helped so many others. I first used it after a surgery where I knew there would be bad bruising and had read about it on a support group website. My surgeon was shocked at how quickly my bruising went away. I give my adult kids a fresh tube of it in their Christmas stockings.
Oh man, I have not thought of these in years-think I know what I will make for dessert tonight. I used to do these with my son when he was little and let him "help" me cook and he got to decorate them-what a mess but we sure had fun.I love a fried bologna sandwich-had one this week for lunch. My grandmother would make us these after making up a small batch of biscuit dough-thanks for the memories. I am sorry for your loss, I am so behind and my heart breaks for you-I have lost pieces of my heart in the past. Hugs and love to you and Mr. Bucky.
Boy I remember this , .....me and my husband was watching this and was saying "do you remember when we did ,this and that".....and that was so nice ....thank you for your great job.... thank you 💚💚😘👍💕💚💚vicky
I love your stories and your videos. You always brighten my day. Am so sorry for the loss of your dear dog. It is terribly hard to say goodbye. May many loving memories of your sweet Peppy bring you comfort at this time. (Hope spelling is correct) Thank you so much Miss Phyllis, for your always wonderful, warm and fun videos. God Bless You. - Robyn, Stillwater, MN
Oh my goodness, so nice to see you back and seing that pretty smile again. I hope you and Mr. Buckey are doing better now. You've been missed for sure. Now I can smile again too..lol
Hi Phyllis! My mom used you hand us kids a brown paper lunch sack full of the coating (the sugar or cinnamon sugar) and we would put in the doughnuts and roll up the top and shake it around to coat the doughnuts! We had so much fun shaking them around! Wonderful video Phyllis I'm so glad you are doing better! Always in my thoughts!
Oh Phyllis, you take me down some memory lanes.... only we used to do this in the late 1970's! LoL. I'm pretty sure my mom taught us as she was a child from the 1950's just like you. We used the top of a 2 liter soda bottle to cut out the hole. I never could get the glaze right, but my brother sure did! He would mix in some vanilla extract and milk to the confectionary sugar and drizzle it over the doughnuts. Fun times! :D
i remember my mom making doughnuts, we loved them. she made them from scratch with a dough that used leftover mashed potatoes. i also remember eating fried bologna sandwiches, so good!! thank you for bringing back so many memories for me. i still have your family in my thoughts!
Glad to see you feeling better, hope Mr Buckey is doing good. I saw that Pepie was very close to him. The lost of a loved pet is hard, we lost one two years ago and still miss him. Keeping you both in my prayers, God bless you both.
Phyllis, young guy here and I've been watching for 4 plus months now and thought I should finally thank you for the comfort, joy, and peacefulness your videos bring me. Never had the privilege of seeing my grandparents cook or share stories but though you and Mr Bucky I see them.
I'm 64 and this brought back memories of my mama making these for us. She would let us drizzle a confectioners sugar and milk icing concoction over these doughnuts. Yum!!!!!
HI. WE MADE Doughnuts from scratch. With flour baking powder sugar and sour milk. Dipped in syrup. Also made the hole with some bottle tops. Good memories of the 60s.small treats made us happy. Mom had a coal stove. She also baked Goodies. Those were difficult yet happy times. Thank you. Son for golden memories. Take care love from South Africa.
I have used this for sometime now! My hubby and I had a mom and pop Cafe' and made what we called donut bites ! We would take the small can of biscuits cut each biscuit into 4 pieces . then throw them into the deep fryer ... when they came out we tossed them in cinnamon sugar. and served in a little basket with a little cup of a citrus frosting glaze i made up and people loved them! This is really a great little treat to share and so easy! Thanks Phyllis for sharing !
Thank you Ms Phyllis, I love your stories, I lost my grandmother a few years ago and your stories remind me of her stories. Love your recipes I've made a few !!!! Tell Mr Buckey I'm sorry about your loss of Peppy, thinking about you both.
Sounds like you and your friend had some good times cooking...just like we enjoy your cooking now. I have a friendship of 62years...we met first day of school.
Ahhh, the doughnuts of our youth! We poked the holes with our fingers and also used the grease out of the "grease" container sitting on the stove top!! Today, it's smoothies rather than doughnuts. I recently had a trip to the doctor for a regular check up, with a complete blood work up. Results came in and EVERYTHING was PERFECT!!! Nothing was too high or too low. Straight down the middle! The doctor and I were both so pleased. Thanks for turning me on to the green smoothies! Feeling fine at 69!! Only wish I had started the smoothies 10 years ago! Thanks again. Happy Turkey Day!
We just made these for my daughters 8th birthday breakfast. Huge hit! We are vlogging the day and will put this video in our description so other people can try them too. Thank you!
My daughter and I love your video's. We live in NC. Saving time and money is so important these days and I thank you for giving me options on quick, nutritious meals for us:)
I'm so glad to see my wonderful friend feeling slightly better. I remember the silver colored container on my mother's and grandmothers stove. I had on then I used a Ball Mason Jar for awhile. Quit using due to change in lifestyle cooking. I remember my grandmother making these. My favourite is sugar and cinnamon. Someone gave me a jar of the Arnica Salve. I have been using it on my hands, elbows, knees and feet. When I remember. I need to try it on my bruises. Unfortunately I have a lot. I treasure the time we share together. Wish it was in person. Both you and Mr Bucky are wonderful people.
When I was very young me and my mom would make these donuts quite a bit. But we cut out the holes with my moms sewing thimble. It would make the perfect center. Wow this brings back so many sweet memories. Thank you so much for making this video. My mom would also roll out these type of biscuits put fruit pie filling in it fold over and fry. Then she would mix regular sugar with cinnamon put it in a bag and place the fried pie in the bag. Shake gently to cover the pie. Oh my, they were so good.
One of my favorite memories of my stepmom was of her in the kitchen teaching me and my brother... we were pretty young too. She taught me how to make these doughnuts using the top from the vanilla jar to make the hole! I miss her to pieces, but my best memories all include her!!! I’m so sorry to here about your fur baby! Sending my prayers to you and Mr. Buckey!!
Brings back memories about the grease container...love your videos..so calm and peaceful in your kitchen..wish I were there to reminess the 50's with you..thanks for sharing your video.
My grandma and mom both used to have silver grease cans. They recycled coffee cans for grease. They would put bacon and hamburger grease in them. They didn't use the chicken grease because it burned easier and it would change the flavor of some food to bitter or funny flavors that didn't work. They would use it for something else. My grandma didn't always have money or time to get to the grocery store and so she would make her own powdered sugar and brown sugar. A cup of regular sugar with two tablespoons of cornstarch and grind in the blender until the right consistency. For brown sugar you added molasses to white sugar until you got it the right color brown you wanted.
Miss Phyllis, I made these for my husband this morning because it’s a holiday weekend! These are the best donuts we have ever eaten! And my husband is a donut connoisseur! Thank you so much for this recipe, they were so easy and fun!
So glad to see you feeling better today. Healing takes time and hopefully soon you both will be able to cope with your loss of Peppy. I used to make these doughnuts as a kid and then I made them with my 4 boys. We used to put chocolate glaze on them....very good & quick.
Our Sunday School class made donuts like this one year after a party. We were tired of baking cakes so this was a hit. We had a line. One would fry, one would dip in chocolate, another in vanilla, etc We probably made a100. All different flavors. We had a great time. They were delicious and kids came back for seconds. Glad you are better. Nancy and Jimmy
Boy, do these bring back memories! This is one of the first things my Mom taught me to make. We would put whatever sugar (powdered or cinnamon sugar) in a paper bag then put the donuts in the bag and shake it until coated. Love you sharing your memories with us.
Thank You so much for a nice memory . I was a child in the 1960's. We made these. But we cut the little Biscuits into quarters. Then used cinnamon, sugar & cocoa on them... Enjoy your recipes.. Also I make these with my 7 year old granddaughter who loves to cook.. She is a good cook..❤❤❤❤
Hi mrs.phyillis it's always a pleasure to watch you.. I just love they way you explain when your cooking I love fried bologna sandwich's.. thank you for your time and, sharing God bless you and, take care Phyllis you look good...so did the donuts. Lol..I want donuts now you got me hungry Phyllis.. hahaha 😄 Love y'all from Oklahoma 😘
Thank you for bringing back a wonderful childhood memory of my mom 😊 I can remember wanting donuts and being disappointed that we couldn't afford to go out and buy some. I was so surprised when my mom showed me how to make donuts using biscuits! She put cinnamon sugar on them and I remember them being so good.
OMG! I remember when I was three and my Auntie Mary making these every day for all us kids (there where 7 of us) as our after school snack. They were the best!!! I love your videos and have made quite a bit of your recipes. 👍🏽👍🏽
I use to make these for my sons when they were little. I happened to have a can of biscuit dough on hand, and being cuckoo for cinnamon, I mushed all the biscuits together and kneaded in some cinnamon, rolled out, fried and glazed....yum. Thanks for the reminder of a quick and easy treat.
I had made donuts from canned biscuits when we were first married. I really had forgotten about them. They are very good. I am so glad you are healing from your nasty fall and the loss of Pepe. You and Mr. Bucky take care.....Crystal. P. S. I am going to be making your simple pie crust in just a little bit for a chicken pot pie for supper.
I will have to try these donuts. My husband loves donuts. These donuts are less time consuming to make. They looked real tasty. 💘 your 🎥. God bless you and your hubby. ❤❤😜
Can't wait for Thanksgiving dinner. All your videos make me think about food. When my family puts on a Thanksgiving dinner it's like a buffet. And my mom has this little bichon dog that goes hysterical happy every time it sees me. Kind of looks like a poodle it's white.
Thank you for keeping your mother's memory alive, I enjoy her explaining her recipes mixed with her stories.
I am enjoying so much catching up with Miss Phyllis' videos. Her recipes are delicious and she's such a wonderful teacher but it was her demeanor that was so kind and warm that made her such a special lady. May she RIP with Mr. Bucky.
I find comfort in watching Phyllis' videos and listening to her stories. I feel like I'm in her house over for a visit! :-)

I used to make these when my kids were young. They loved them.
I love listening to you. 🙂 I had forgotten about these donuts. My favorite. 💕
I made these in my Home Ec class in junior high. Thanks for the memory.
You always have the best recipes, Phyllis. Your slow, steady instructions help us rookies get it right! Thanks so much!
You are fabulous! Watching your videos is like visiting my favorite auntie!

I made these for my 3 girls in the 80's! They thought that I was so good making them! :-)
So sad to hear of Phyllis’ passing. May she RIP 🌹
Yummy! Looking forward to making these. You are looking better. You and Mr Bucky are still in my thoughts and prayers.
I love your stories!I'm glad that you're feeling better.😊
Can't wait for Thanksgiving dinner. All your videos make me think about food. When my family puts on a Thanksgiving dinner it's like a buffet. And my mom has this little bichon dog that goes hysterical happy every time it sees me. Kind of looks like a poodle it's white.
