The worst part is when picking MVP seems to be mostly based on points scored. So, when you lose but they get MVP cause they back capped a lot they think they did great and it's everyone else fault

    • @lambdadelta6140
      @lambdadelta6140 10 месяцев назад +14

The MVP system is total nonsense imho. I did really good in a match and then I see that I have not many points for my role just because I dare to defend our bases while everyone else is running around like a bunch of chickens on speed. After the match, people of my own team give me a sarcastic "like" even if I stopped so many opponents from scoring. Most people don't even seem to understand how this game works

    • @miguelhernandez-tv6uk

Or worse. They didn't cap a lot or at all, the game was lost or close, they capped 100 points while the 4v5 was lost and they are the mvp for those freaking 100 points

yes this is the worst part and why so many bad players still do what they do. they genuinely think they played it perfect because they got MVP and its their teams fault but in reality theyre a decidueye that legit made every wrong play and tried backcapping at ray.

    • @abra_escaped

I gravitate to two playstyles (one focuses purely on speed and other is a mix with speed and health so I can come and go of a fight as I so desire) and my strategy composes on rushing enemy goals, not to score but to distract enemy to hit me.
After that I pop X speed, run down their lane, taking the berries and triggering the bunnies to walk. Lane partner can stack as it pleases if the enemy follows me and the X speed last enought time to my speed part of the build to go of while passing in the middle, hitting the speed berry and ending whatever chance their jungler had to catch a zorua.

I would argue that it depends on when you started to play unite and when you got said gold badge. If you've been around in the game since its first year, and only now in 2024 your main has its gold badge, you're probably actually a great ally that knows how to play as a team.
But if you're a moderately recent player, and your main already has a gold badge, it's an indicator you are not a versatile player. You've played this pokémon and just this pokémon. At best you know what your role entails and the quirks of your main, but you don't know what the other roles are about, and so you'll have a hard time understanding your allies' movements and adapt to them. It also means you'll get a bad habit of playing the same way, even if you are forced to play a different mon.

Jake, thanks a lot for addressing that most gold ribbon players we get in our matches are absolute trash and need to get the heck outta the leaderboards and "recommended" sets. The amount of times I and many players even in your server have been teamed up with a bad gold ribbon player is literal madness at this point!
Especially those quick match spammers and/or players who are running garbage items on a pokemon (Looking at you, LatiasDragon and your triple specs Dragonite and Charm/Bangle/Crown Goodra! You are a disgrace to the community's greatest Dragonite and Goodra mains!), it's so damn infuriating and it has even infected even non-ribboned players. Don't get me wrong, I've definitely seen great gold ribbon players as well with legit records and winrates even in your server. It's just the randoms with gold ribbons we get are usually bad and the enemies get like some goated gold ribbon player/s.
I also do not have a gold ribbon in any mon and the closest I've been to a gold ribbon in unite was in my old account with Garchomp at 87900 BP. It was a legit blue ribbon and now I'm tryna get one with Delph. But looks like I might not do that anytime soon cause I still have more ribbons to get for my other maining mons.

I've seen people online say Scizor is garbage and to just use Scyther instead (specially if you want the master achievement) but I haven't had any trouble at all. In fact, I not only got the master achievement only using Scizor but I usually end up 1v4 because of how bulky it is. I also find it easier to start battles and just forget about my team if they're unorganized. Something I really can't do with other mons because of how much they rely on a team (specially Metagross).

More likely you only notice a gold badge player when they play bad and make a mental note of it. I have never seen people praising gold badge players as much as they like to throw shade on them when they don't pop off. I assume jealousy also plays a part here. We tend to judge a gold badge player's plays more critically than of normal players. So I think this video is incorrect. Also you have no way of knowing that "gold badge players play bad, in general", which is the premise of this video.

Honestly I think these players are good. All be it only good at grinding quick matches. People used to “grind win rate or wr” in unite discords by going in trios and fixing their win rate. I do think there should be separate leaderboards for quick and ranked matches. I’m friends with a top 20 lucario player and they boast about being top whatever thinking that they are good. Now I just say to myself that they aren’t that good they just grind quick matches to stay on top of the leaderboards.

One thing I think that should also be considered when people are playing specific Pokémon over and over is Holowear. People that only have 1-2 Holowear are going to want to play the Pokémon that looks cool, especially since it’s so expensive for a cosmetic, regardless of if it’ll support your team well.

It’s not that the other team was really bad, they were decent players but the zerora again was just playing his own game; we weren’t carried, we were DRIVEN he pulled up in a bus and brought us to the victory. We later found out he ONLY plays zerora and almost 5,000 games on him. It was kind of strange he didn’t make the top 100 zerora players despite having a comparable win rate

And to be fair I started playing Luca seriously in season 5 after continuous nerfs, and when I was a way worse player overall (unite is my first moba). And it took A LOT of games to get good with e speed, but I currently have a 71% wr with him this season and I believe I ended last season around 60%, all solo or duo.

I've actually seen this feedback loop trap in other games, particularly fighting games. Though I believe the reason for the "golden bad-ge curse" comes from these players using the loop to reinforce bad habits, while unite isn't acting "competitive" enough to encourage people to go looking for them... it's a lot harder to break a habit if you're getting KOs and Ws anyway. However, not being able to identify your mistakes could definitely weaken your growth in the long run.
All in all, I agree with much of what you're saying, spragels.

Gold gardevoir here. Began playing in season 8, some of what you said it's true. When i started playing unite i doubted i'd be able to compete with players in rank, so i did a ton of standard games, then in season 11 i got more into rank with more knowledge about the game since this is the first moba i actually got into.
True difficulty spike starts at veteran cause lower ranks are filled with bots, so climbing is easy. It's been 6 seasons i reached master in a row with 1571 games on gardevoir and a 68% wr that has been decreasing from it's original 80% thanks to rank, the game also places me at top 1100 (1025 highest placement), bc for some reason i seem to be stuck at the gates of top 1k. Currently i'm at 52.8% seasonal wr with 89 games. also spent a lot of time watching guides on how to become a better player.
Does that mean i'm a good gardevoir? Maybe? Looks like i'm a decent or slightly above average soloq player, but i'll let you decide.

The gorgeous (blue) ribbon was 10 000 pokedollars or half a vanilla E4 run, the royal (green), 10 times as much and the gorgeous royal was max cash.

Scientifically, it is proven that people who practice many different tasks including one specific task perform better at that one specific task than people who exclusively practice that one specific task. Within the same practice time, of course. This is true for maths, languages, football, playing the piano and for sure playing Pokémon Unite.
It is easily explained: If you know how different Pokémon move, how much damage they deal and tank, what their moves do and what their range is by playing them yourself, when you encounter them in battle you are prepared and know how to react way better than if you never played them yourself. Your brain simply has a lot more connections and data to access each situation compared to the case you always play only one single Pokémon.
In reverse, you can use this phenomenon as a technique to learn and practice more effectively and become better.
Unfortunately, I forgot the name of this practice and learning phenomenon/technique. May someone remember for me?

Unite is an information game that the devs are trying to convince everyone that it's not. Knowledge of other mons, their strengths and their weaknesses is how you figure out how to play the game, alongside how those strengths and weaknesses play into the map that you're on. Gold badge players are basically players that, with the incredibly lenient unite ranking system, have essentially boosted their way up to top ranks thinking that knowledge of one character works for all.

I have gold badge clef, wiggly, elde, comfey, simply as I play solo q and keep getting 4 attackers more often than not so kept having to play support so decided as a side task to give myself while I'm at it to get some gold support badges. I also have a gold espeon as my first attacker I learnt. I've got some blue attackers, defenders, supports, a few greens in speedsters, the only role I really struggle with due to skill issue is all rounder so I just play elde and sylveon as more of an all rounder while I continue to practice real all rounders in standard. This being said the last few days I've run into the same gold badge elde, a few times on my team, played badly, then I was Vs them elde Vs elde and they did the same back capping during team fights, avoiding team fights etc. our team won to this and wasnt surprised to see they had 17k and 20k healing very similar to when on my team. I had a player on my team yesterday, was choosing espeon with rescue hood but at the last moment swapped to gold badge rescue hood aegislash, did very poorly but luckily we still won despite it.

I love having my 1 gold badge on espeon. Yes I've played 1100 games with it, but that's out of 6000 games total, and I got the badge at game 642. Didn't care about the badge til after I was doing good in the game and understood all roles and what each mon can at least do to know how to counter them. Once EX mons came into the fray I started 1 tricking espeon cause it is my best mon at 61%wr. Before EX mons I just filled between attacker, healer, and defender each game.
It's sad that the gold badge doesn't show skill, but that's also the same for everything I'm this game. I'd love to b able to search the rank of mons by each game mode. So I could see myself in top 500 probly for ranked with espeon. But the quick play addicts show nothing in top rankings and its pathetic. Played since mobile release date and getting close to finding a new main game if TIMI doesn't do something with the rankings system
