I always liked to imagine that everything Sunsinger Guardians do are powered by inch-tall hard-to-see mini Sunbreakers, like little helper elves, pointy hats and everything. "Angel of Light" is actually just a pair of mini Sunbreakers tirelessly throwing small hammers at the feet of a Sunsinger to keep them afloat. Gift of the Sun is just a mini Sunbreaker throwing an extra grenade for you (and presumably giving a very small thumbs up). Whenever a Sunsinger dies, a miniature Sunbreaker appears and starts bashing away at their hearts with their tiny hammers like an angry little defibrillator. When they quick revive, every seemingly instantaneously recharged grenade is actually the same small Sunbreaker, clinging to the hand of the Sunsinger, throwing mini hammers of Sol, very angrily of course. The flaming wings are actually two mini Sunbreakers screaming two jets of fire out of Singer's back, which sound like distant singing due to their tiny size, which is where the name "Sunsinger" comes from. And well, there's the lore explanation, but... eeeehhh...
I play a warlock myself and seeing as they are embracing the power surrounding them I feel like warlocks have the power to be the strongest class. Many warlocks like Toland, Osiris, and a many others have shown the potential of what a warlock could be if they embrace the the powers around them. Granted they have a different mind set than most but they have powers and capabilities that shine compared to others. Many would say that warlocks suck and are useless since a hunter can easily shut them down as well as a titan. While that may be true but they seem to be more in tune with their power and use it accordingly. Coming back from the dead without a ghost or condensing a large amount of void energy into a a powerful explosion that leaves a vortex behind. The choice is up to you but the way I see it is that warlocks have potential to be the best class or at least in a lore aspect. Just so you other classes don't get pissed Radiant
I think Eris would have flinched because of her Hive eyes. She probably can't see how we can, instead seeing Light and Dark instead of shapes and colors. Kinda like Neo from The Matrix. So when she looked to Osiris, she was seeing the radiance of his Light, and she flinched from it's incandescence. #radiant
8:20 Heart of the Praxic Fire: "In that last moment she seemed as wholly luminescent as the Sun, and I wished to be so brave." Brave enough for what? To become a Sunsinger perhaps?
It's a quote from Toland in reference to Eriana-3, a Sunsinger of the Praxic Fire (a Warlock order), while in the depths of the Hellmouth with her fire team fighting against Crota's disciples. Knowing that she too would unquestionably die down there, as most of her fire team was, with her ghost lacking the power to revive her, she activated her final Radiance to destroy as many Hive as possible before dying her final death whist Toland pressed forward to meet with Ir Yût, the Deathsinger. TLDR: It's basically in regards to though being gripped with despair and regret, surrounded by death and destruction, being brave enough to face your enemies and your final death head on.
I think it's really cool that in English the subclass called sunsinger always talks about the music of the sun, but in my language instead of being sun singer, it's written heliomancer aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Thank you, Myelin for gathering all this information. All this lore is the reason why I love the Sunsinger. I just wish that Sunsingers had a more consistent support presence mechanically. Based on my own research, much of their lore suggests that they should empower others. And frankly, I don't think Song of Flame and Sunburst cut it.

I actually don't think Sunsingers metaphorically sings a song. I think it's actually something that they all sing, but it differs slightly for each Warlock, based on their experiences, but they all have the same theme. The Song of Sol is what makes a Sunsinger a Sunsinger.
I just now started playing destiny after my friends talked me into it and the sunsinger is my favorite so far mainly because i like say “Praise the sun!!!!” when i use my super
My friend and I came to the conclusion that Solar Energy is more inherently light attributed while Void Energy is more inherently attributed to the Darkness, but Arc Energy is almost like a balance or neutral.
Can the sunsingers sense light? In destiny 2 you can't get your light from the traveler but there are other sources of light, could the sunsingers sense that kind of light and bond with it?
I would suppose so since they have the connection, what i wanna know is can they make it themselves and give it to other guardians instead of elevating the light they no longer have
BOSS Güler the leaked symbol of the warlock subclass is a Phoenix so it is possible. Even before Light could be channeled like it is now Guardians have always found a way to survive.
Guardians are told light comes from the Sun, the void between stars, and the bonding forces that exist in all things.- Perhaps the paracausal powers that allow guardians to manipulate destiny come from the traveler,- but light itself doesnot. I have a question how do guardians change subclass and has one ever changed subclass in the middle of a battle. I hope I'm not asking a stupid question
Dryden Clark go to click on your subclass icon in your inventory, it'll. have all of your unlocked subclasses next to it. and if you click on,the one equipped like you would a weapon you can adjust your skill tree. and yes you can change it in mid mission, though you'll lose what super, melee, grenade energy you have
Dryden Clark I've had a similar inquiry for awhile. What if "switching" subclasses is a Guardian perhaps changing their mindset to a particular mindset? Via a Guardian judges in his mind which element to pull from and draws power out of it? If you look at how a Titan for example uses their Super. With Fist of Havoc they put a posture of a large amount of force and with Hammer of Sol you see them concentrate their force, their Light, on a single hand to pull out a Hammer of Fire.
Honestly, if I were able to alter the sunsinger subclass, I'd make it to where if you activate your super, your glide ability is replaced with the ability to fly, while throwing grenades at you're enemies..!
Nice clip again with very good information, as a Titan and always will be I always find your clips informative and that they give a different perspective from the normal humdrum. Cheers
The quote at 6:55 does anyone else feel that when he means the Phoenix I think the Phoenix is the bird on the warlocks chest plate from the Destiny 2 poster and also in some way apart of the pet subclass that's supposedly suppose to happen
A thing to note is that, while the Warlock subclasses seem to be very mighty, learning the truth of the Light we weird, and transcending simple usage of it, the Hunter is just as mighty as they learn how to utilize scraps and empower them with the Light and survive when all odds are against them in the wild, and the Titan is just a mighty as they tone their body and empower it with the Light to beat down enemies and shield allies. Every class has a role to play, and each role is vital to the survival of humanity (humans, Exo and Awoken all as one), and they each have learned to excel at them thanks to the ones who have preceeded them, as well as those around them.
MrKirbyXIII the video wasn't saying the other classes weren't as good, just that warlocks self ress is a form of Pinnacle light usage/ manipulation. additionally it has been shown in the cards any class can learn any other classes ability it's just taboo. so there really is no divide in the classes just roles / specializations people stick to.
Willow4526 It's shown that it takes a certain mindset to use the various powers, which does mean the binds are merely what we, the newer people who only know of the City at its pinnacle, set ourselves into. There is no taboo, especially as we know a few legends that have swapped classes.
MrKirbyXIII I'm not good at quoting but in some or one of the cards 1 individual character used a titan ability and wore a cloak and was looked apon a lesser for using and wearing things not associated with his class so that's were the taboo implication would be applied accurately, additionally humans have been shown to be able to fit into various categorical sets so by now i would assume there should/ would be some people who can use different classes subclasses ie someone who can uae nova bomb, titan smash and whatever third subclass, but that isn't shown and doesn't happen, which as long as I'm remembering the card correctly would be bcos of the taboo nature of using other classes abilities.
Willow4526 You are remembering Rezyl Azzir, a Titan who was a shining Beacon as the City formed, always leading the way while others faltered, who wore a Hunter Cloak as well as wielded his Rose, later named The First Curse after the original was transformed into the Thorn by Azzir's foolishness, with the finesse and style traditional to a Hunter. He wasn't looked down for his mixture, which didn't even exist until he founded the Titans and someone else founded the Hunters, but for his fall to Dredgen Yor. While every race has every capability to learn and use every power given they end up meeting all circumstances, the City has founded certain paths that accommodate certain mindsets, and new Guardians come directly into this way of thinking and end up bound by it. Much like we here in America can't fathom the idea that kids grow up and never think that killing is a bad thing, like what has happened for centuries in the Middle East, simply due to the culture over there. We are going to lose our powers when the Cabal hit us in Destiny 2. Most likely, we will need to relearn everything, and learn new things. We might even become unshackled by our mindsets and branch out beyond the single class (aka, we can swap classes like in AQWorlds, Warframe, FF14:ARR, etc). But, for now, we are shackled.
Amazing video as usual Mylin. It's very bold to state something not only so class, but subclass specific, praise. Not sure if I agree with you, but as loremasters and theorists, that's one of the best things you can do. I also think that the similarities between Sunsinger and Voidwalker are uncanny. The main point being that you walk the edge between life and death, one is twisting the light with darkness, the other is the sheer exposure to pure, unbridled, corrosive power of the Light. Even as a Stormcaller, I think each subclass makes up a part of what it means to be a warlock. The reason Sunsingers can harness so much light is because they push themselves so close to death due to exposure to the light. Wow, that was quite the essay.
I love the melee quote from this, the only thing left out is our fusion grenade mastery! lol Titans and Hunters need to get on our level. Knowledge is power baby! #sorrynotsorry
Ikora: Eyes up Guardian, breath, just breath, now...what do you see?Guardian: The light.....the Darkness....the Balance*cut to a shot of a guardian practicing form with a Raze Lighter*
interesting... I kind of feel that the device could be symbolic... think of a super nova. How when it dies it collapses onto itself and then explodes with unfathomable light and power... A super nova explosion can outshine a galaxy... Just as a sunsinger collapses, so too does it spring forth with a powerful explosion of energy. (only to get sniped off the rez) seen it happen one too many times. all joking aside, this is probably some of my favorite lore. (being a warlock main) still, some of the best lore for classes in destiny has to go to titans. So good
There was a part of the Grimiore I can't seem to find right now that stated there was a guardian that sought and attained a long term form of radiance through meditation and concentration. I find this idea fairly interesting considering how radiance is depicted as a "channeling of the light" and in that way, it would make a lot of sense that more skilled sunsingers would be able to hold a radiant state for longer (though we don't see this in game as it wouldn't be very balanced).
as I much as I try to hate as a hunter, one cannot doubt the mastery warlocks have in terms of light manipulation, most especially Sunsingers, can't wait to see what you have to say about the other subclasses Matt
some other things that could hint to Osiris being a sunsinger are the fact that the Osiris card says that stories have come back to shax about warlocks who do not blink and have no shadow, also I don't remember perfectly but I could have sworn that the sunbreakers were learned from him in Mercury
So, all this talk of self-resurrection brings to my mind a question: are the ranks of the Thanatonauts comprised mostly, or even entirely of Fireborn Sunsingers? It would make sense, given the nature of Thanatomaut practices.
Radiant one time a guy in my fireteam died while on top of the siege engine. nobody could reach him. I, a sunsinger, was the only one who could revive him. I had to use angel of light, but it worked 😂
4:57 Hell, yes, #SunsingerEliteClass. I really miss being a Sunsinger. I stopped playing Destiny after RoI since I don't have any current gen console, but I'm so excited to play D2 on PC. #Radiant
So I haven't read the book of sorrows in a couple years but if I remember the Deathsingers use a similar philosophy to hide themselves in an alternative realm when they die. Like the oversoul is basically the Sun of another dimension and the Sunsinger is a wizard.
As a sunsinger, I'll always be there to pick you up if you fall, fill you with power when you have none and cast light upon even the darkest shadows. May your legend never falter guardians #radiant
Not going to lie, i was pretty bumed that so many warlocks ignored/downgraded their actual super in favor of an oops button. Nice animation and idea though.
I think there light is so powerful and bright that they don't need a conduit they draw their power straight from the traveler as told in a grimore card I forgot the name of "some accounts say as they flue away they saw a light as bright as the sun but dismissed it" the are the five lives of I don't remember who (I have horrid memory)
I think it would be MORE cool to become more light than guardian cos hunters and titans cant do it nearly as much as a warlock. As a hunter i say it just makes the sunsinger even cooler!
My friend started going on saying that warlocks are the best class because of this video. He was rev-sniped. "So much for warlocks" as I reloaded my sniper.
Yes, because no other class can use a sniper rifle, lol. Just because it's not unstoppable doesn't mean it's not extremely useful. Reviving from death is completely warlock exclusive, and very useful.
The sun basically have a sound and even the hindus know this thousand years ago and the sound is called "OM" and it resonates to your soul connecting yourself to the universe. That must be what the sunsinger sing.
@Myelin Games Hey man love your content. Sorry if you get asked this a lot but in the last two DDU podcasts you touched on how we killed Oryx and never replaced him, as well as why Taken still exist. Just because someone replaces Oryx (I assume it will be one of the sisters) that wouldn't automatically give them the power over the Taken right? Oryx gained that power through a series of events that can't really be repeated, unless anyone can just pick up the tablets and then talk to the deep. Interested in your take and if there is maybe something I'm missing.
Radiant This honestly makes me think about the "leaks" for Destiny 2. 1. Is the possible new sub-classes, where it shows 3 guardians engulfed in cinders with new weapons, a Titan with a shield, a Hunter with a spear, and a Warlock with flaming wings wielding a sword. 2. The second set of pictures with animals associated with each class, a Lion for Titans, a Snake for Hunters, and an Eagle (Or possibly a Phoenix) for the Warlock. What if these "Cinders" are a new type of subclass, but not entirely? What if it's a remnant of the Solar subclass? Since the Sunsingers were so in tuned with the light, that would explain the fact that they still possess their wings and maybe a connection with the Phoenix symbol and the analogy to the Phoenix in the Sunsinger quest.
Warlocks can be as close to the light as they want, but they won't be able to radiate with a quick shadow shot to their side. Funny, that can be said with all other subclasses, #Hunterlyfe
well shadow shot is for noobs in pvp, in pve its understandable for raids but in pvp noobs will eithet use the shadowshot or fist of havoc, 2 true panic noob subclasses XD so yeah ur a noob ;)
I think we now can say warlock are def the strongest light users in universe, Ikora can fly foreever and use as many nova bombs as she wants, she's literally a max level anime protagonist at this point, calus thinks she can obliterate a planet, for what that's worth and osiris makes dozens of naruto light clones, no other class does these things
I have been a Warlock main since the Destiny 1 First Look Alpha on PS4, and I completely agree with you. Even without self-ressurection, Radiance is a much more interesting Super than Dawnblade. It isn't the conjuration of a sword of pure fire, it isn't the generation of solar wings carrying you through the sky, it's just you, at the apex of your power. Perfect.
Been a Sunsinger main ever since I unlocked the subclass. I had kinda suspected much of what you laid out, once I delved into the lore. Great video Myelin, but did you touch upon the actual mechanics of Fireborn? Perhaps I was distracted, but it seemed like the actual self-resurrection was missed? I understand if we may not have the necessary info to answer that question, but was just curious about your ideas.
I'm torn if I would actually be a voidwalker or a stormcaller if I were actually a Guardian. Hopefully the subclasses are more fleshed out in Destiny 2.

Radiant: Myelin you are awesome. Every video is amazing. I love destiny because of people like you, who bring the story to life.
When do we get Radiance back?
That is interesting how the revival of a sí singer is like the revival of a Phoenix! I like seeing that symbolism Myelin!
interesting...
(only to get sniped off the rez)
seen it happen one too many times.
all joking aside, this is probably some of my favorite lore. (being a warlock main)
still, some of the best lore for classes in destiny has to go to titans. So good
There was a part of the Grimiore I can't seem to find right now that stated there was a guardian that sought and attained a long term form of radiance through meditation and concentration.
Well my friends are never gonna hear the end of this ;)
Radiant
one time a guy in my fireteam died while on top of the siege engine. nobody could reach him. I, a sunsinger, was the only one who could revive him. I had to use angel of light, but it worked 😂
Divine laughing continues from the warlock master race
#warlockmasterrace
here we go again.. but I sort of believe it now
Myelin Games :) join the masters of the arcane arts. we'll show you the universe
Diary Ha No.joke just seconds before your I was notified of your comment a bladedancer gutted me!
I would simply wait until your fancy knife runs out :)
And then I would smash all of you!
"If you're bored, you can grab a mop and give the warlock halls a once over."
4:57 Hell, yes, #SunsingerEliteClass. I really miss being a Sunsinger. I stopped playing Destiny after RoI since I don't have any current gen console, but I'm so excited to play D2 on PC. #Radiant
Let's play a game count how many times myelin says whilst. Ready set to!!!
I've almost always been a sunsinger warlock and hearing this makes me happy
Radiant
So I haven't read the book of sorrows in a couple years but if I remember the Deathsingers use a similar philosophy to hide themselves in an alternative realm when they die. Like the oversoul is basically the Sun of another dimension and the Sunsinger is a wizard.
Nice vid man
keep up the good work
As a sunsinger, I'll always be there to pick you up if you fall, fill you with power when you have none and cast light upon even the darkest shadows.
May your legend never falter guardians
#radiant
Seriously Myelin ur voice is so SOOTHING!!!
Han Solo : Hunter. Chewie: Titan. Luke: Warlock :)
all my 9 subclasses have been complete for at least a year... sunsinger has always been my favorite... #radiant
Not going to lie, i was pretty bumed that so many warlocks ignored/downgraded their actual super in favor of an oops button. Nice animation and idea though.
Time to brag in Raid about how amazing my Sunsinger Warlock is!!!
Tyler Thomas Albios
I think it would be MORE cool to become more light than guardian cos hunters and titans cant do it nearly as much as a warlock. As a hunter i say it just makes the sunsinger even cooler!
My friend started going on saying that warlocks are the best class because of this video. He was rev-sniped. "So much for warlocks" as I reloaded my sniper.
Yes, because no other class can use a sniper rifle, lol. Just because it's not unstoppable doesn't mean it's not extremely useful. Reviving from death is completely warlock exclusive, and very useful.
Radiant!!!! Thank u so much this video was lit thanks for proving that sunsingers aren't useless👏👏
Keep up the good work myelin 👍
sunsingers are my second favorite sub class in the game right behind my blade-dancer
Well a Warlock is the class that i first created i have all 3 classes but the Warlock is my favorite
The sun basically have a sound and even the hindus know this thousand years ago and the sound is called "OM" and it resonates to your soul connecting yourself to the universe. That must be what the sunsinger sing.
My friends are never gonna hear the end of it
Yes thank you so much! I love ur vids man!
this video addressed a comment on a later video asking about Bladedancers. thanks!

This honestly makes me think about the "leaks" for Destiny 2.
Anyone else curious on where the Speaker could be in Destiny 2 since he doesn't make an appearance in the trailers
Great vid myelin
Warlocks can be as close to the light as they want, but they won't be able to radiate with a quick shadow shot to their side. Funny, that can be said with all other subclasses, #Hunterlyfe
Leonard Church unless a defender titan hits you with a suppression grenade.
Leonard Church typical hunter filth
Leonard Church at least you can't miss a self rez... just sayin
#HuntersAreBest #SuckItWarlocks
well shadow shot is for noobs in pvp, in pve its understandable for raids but in pvp noobs will eithet use the shadowshot or fist of havoc, 2 true panic noob subclasses XD so yeah ur a noob ;)
And they call gunslingers elitist…
Good thing I mained a sunsinger for almost all of year 1
Radiant. "In your Last Light, I find it everlasting." Seeke17
lol I don't even use the sunsinger class and I main warlock, but I'll admit this vid kinda makes me wanna start upgrading it
Radiant ,awesome video
Four years later and still a Warlock main. I truly miss this subclass.
Perfect.
radiant, I am one that has followed in the light and a follower of Toland, I am one in few warlocks that can asend without a ghost.
Good luck reviving yourself against me myelin
Gary I hate you, Glenn
Go to hell, Gil.
shut up garrus
thought your name was goule
DMR UGGA BUGGA something with a G
F yea i keep telling my friend Warlocks are the best and usually I'm an anxious person but I'd do anything for that power
People thought that the GameStop merc was leaked destiny 2 subclasses but after listening to this I think not with the mention of the Phoenix
Very good video I am happy someone showed it to me
hey Myelin you've talked about the personalities of the subclasses but what about the personality of the nightstalkers?
Do you think it’s possible for a warlock to use the light after their ghost dies by having a more intense connection to the light
You should make these into podcasts for spotify! That would be perfect!
Warlock's master race with no face.👤😂
Radiant
That was a sweet video
this is all good and well but... you guys go crazy
And with that, the ego of every Warlock escalates beyond that of even Cayde-6
We should've found this song of sol a long time ago and gotten rid of it since year 1, oh man the horrible flashbacks
Nice job!
Where as the solar sublass contains all three charges of protons, neutrons, and electrons
