and that's how he's selfish. he only cares for himself and those around him, and is overly willing to sacrifice those around him for said cause without the bat of an eye (see: betraying clover for quark, door 3, i can get others if needbe). he justifies himself by thinking himself as a hero or that he's doing good by helping those he cares about, but he's destroying everything around him in his attempt. and then theres the whole akane thing, which reeks of entitlement and selfishness. he feels like he "earned" akane and then boohoos over the fact that she's not some object for him to claim and has her own goals and stuff to do (which is SAVING THE WORLD. HE CARES MORE ABOUT GETTING "HIS WAIFU" THAN 6 BILLION PEOPLE). he completely rejects her true self until vlr, which was barely acknowledgement, and even then still rejects the idea of it ("the akane i know isn't anywhere" no fuck she wasn't real) junpei is selfish as fuck.
Doomcaliber Knight The fact that she was a collection of pixels didn't make you not care in the first place? It's the whole "are AI human?" argument, if they can abandon their programming, I don't consider them "robots" anymore, since they have free will as much as we do. Plus by that logic, I'd be surprised if anything gets to you in fiction, knowing none of it's real.
Axmak Moonglow Of course fiction gets me. However there is a difference between being a bunch of pixels and being a robot within that realm. Same as being human and being a robot in reality. Regardless of where the robot exists, I cannot emphasize with them. This is based on my doubt that any species can create a species intellectually superior to themselves (and thus reach technological singularity). Her breaking the 3 laws of robotics or having free will didn't really make a difference. AI is such an absurd thing I cannot imagine ever existing, much less than all the pseudoscience going on in VLR.
Doomcaliber Knight I think it was made quite clear that Luna was sentient, even apart from breaking the first law (which they hinted was actually due to the 0th law). She fell in love with Sigma, didn't she? She obviously had feelings...
I've heard a lot of people say that Luna, from a writing standpoint, isn't necessarily a good character because she was "too nice" for her to be interesting. That she wasn't given complex motives or emotions aside from her gentle, kind, soft demeanor. *Well, spoiler ahead, even though the comment section is riddled with the same spoiler* In the context of her ending revealing she is a GAULEM, in my opinion, not only makes her character more likable, but incredibly more interesting. We know from the GAULEM Bay room that the robots are only a part of a computer, but, as the Chinese Room analogy showed, a robot that can act like a human, talk like one, and look like one may as well be one, even if they aren't human at all. Luna was created specifically to trick everyone into believing she was a human, thus her appearance and specific orders from the old woman to maintain the facade. But nevertheless, she did something most humans wouldn't do in her situation: Trust someone unconditionally and consistently in the Nonary Game. At least in one timeline, every character betrayed another at least once; even kind-hearted people like Quark and K, but not Luna. No matter what action was taken, she never betrayed anyone. She tried her best to help the group and provide helpful insight to everyone all while keeping a gentle attitude and smiling. She could be betrayed and not harbor malicious feelings on them; the worst thing she'd do is feel *guilty*. Her perfect niceness, without knowing she was mechanical, would come off to lovers of complex literature and media as poor writing. "How could anyone trapped in such a horrible, Saw-like game stay so nice to anyone? She's just a boring, nice character without any thought of expressing human psychology. She's just a filler character, in that case." But, she isn't human. She wasn't meant to see how people would react in a life or death situation like most participants of the game. Her role was to make sure the game went smoothly and blindly follow orders. That's it. GAULEMs are just a computer controlling a metal skeleton . And yet, everything Luna did, she felt something. While she was watching the old woman be murdered, as Alice killed herself, as Dio killed everyone, she felt remorse for them, that she couldn't save them. She broke the first law of robotics by allowing a human to die for her gain, or rather, her safety to follow orders and stay silent. When she asks Sigma why he would trust her, it's obvious to her that she was not innocent; "I just let all these people die in front of my very eyes, some of them completely innocent people." Throughout the game, it questions your trust of Luna. "Will she still be innocent? Is Luna truly this kind?" Every single time prior to her ending, she proved she was genuine. But ironically, the ending, in showing that Luna was robotic, that she betrayed her orders to see Sigma one last time, that showing she could've done something to save every participant, made her even more genuine, even more empathetic, even more *alive*. Her kindness wasn't a mask to pretend she was human, it was just Luna being Luna. Maybe she was faking it to be more human, but it doesn't change her actual sorrow in seeing everyone she got to know die, it doesn't change the tears she cried in Sigma's arms, it doesn't change that desire for happiness she sought. Luna, quite possibly, is the most human person written for Virtue's Last Reward. And she wasn't even human. Uchikoshi was able to write such a beautiful character and insight into human desires without the subject being human. Luna is arguably the most fascinating of the 9 characters to me; and she's definitely my favorite character of VLR. Maybe even my favorite character in *video games*. Anyway, I wanna read The Blue Bird now!
Nice write-up. I completely agree with it. Luna's actually one of the best-loved characters in the series (even by Western players!), so no worries about many people hating her. The majority loves her for all the points you described above.
Ah nice! I saw a bunch of people on RUclips say she was bland but I guess it's the minority view. I'm really glad people love her! :D I really hope Diana in ZTD will be just as awesome as Luna!
+Cosplaybuddygiraffes She is! In ZTD, you can see how Diana is the template for Luna, but at the same time how different she is from Luna. They wrote her character well, IMO. I take it that you haven't played ZTD yet. Hopefully you get to play it soon! It's so epic.
I'm a GAULEM. Just a...a machine... A jumble of metal and plastic that pretends to be real. My time is up. At least I get to die in your arms. With one last, quite chime, the music box wound down. I was left with nothing but silence and the cold pool of tears over my heart. This game is so underrated it's criminal
+Christopher Kendall Agreed. It's ridiculous how it doesn't get any attention despite having a rich, tear-jerking story and a fantastic dynamic between its characters.
Im soo glad after playing Danganronpa Series to have found this series. Both of the first 2 games of Zero Escape are the best story telling games ive ever witnessed. HOLY SHIT and luna for live never thought i could feel so much for a fictional robot character. The music box playing in the background of the scene killed me when I first played it.
Sigma: "Aren't you scared? I may be a machine, how can you trust me?" Luna: "Maybe it's BECAUSE you are a machine that I can trust you" *-Meanwhile-** **-Later-** Meanwhile, but also in another timeline...* Luna: "I'm a GAULEM, a machine. Why should you trust me?" Sigma: "Maybe it's BECAUSE you are a machine that I can trust you."
Hey I am happy to see people still care about this game my cousin introduced me to this game and I was searching around like hell to find people that still care about this game
Everyone here is talking about Luna's ending but not the other scenes this song plays in. Quark's letter wrecked me, especially since I had figured out who Tenmyouji was.
Even if I haven't cried there, it was clearly a great scene, the fact the he betray you to save his son, and after that, his son comes around with a letter detailing his life with his father in a apocaliptic world... certainly this ending is more like main quark ending while quark end is like a secondary ending.
Ared twotwofive just finished the game and wanted to correct a couple of things. Phi doesn’t die in that ending. She decides to freeze herself sometime after the ending so she can be in the ambidex game. Diana does die sometime in the future after having spent time with Sigma. This is not the same Diana that birthed Phi and Delta so she still has her blue bird music box which we can assume she told Sigma about while they were on the moon. After Diana dies, Sigma creates Luna based on Diana.
i remember even when the main characters started doubting Luna, when all hope had seemed to be lost, when you saw her outside the voting room before the door closed. I knew. I still fucking knew she was who she always appeared to be. That's why I hit that Ally button 3 times in a row
One thing I love about her character is how she’s a bit of a paradox, in her writing. People mention the irony in how it’s the robot that never lost her humanity, but honestly? That’s the entire thing. By never losing her humanity, she ironically showed she was the least human. Why? Because losing your humanity, in a situation like this, is *incredibly* human. Whereas real humans are flawed, make mistakes, betray each other and commit atrocities. Luna is a reflection of what humanity should be, and can be at their best. Kind, generous, loving and trusting. But it’s exactly that, the fact that she’s so perfectly human no matter what, that shows her inhumanity. I just think that’s masterful writing.
This ending.... gosh did I love it. The main character just said "fuck it I'll stay trapped with Luna" and ran back inside the 9 door just to be with her a while longer. I had trusted her from the start, but pushing betray just to get the other endings made my heart ache. That tells you how good that character is.
When I saw Luna outside the AB room.. There was no way I'd ever betray her. I smooshed my finger on the "Ally" Option as hard as I could.. Her good ending can break a hardened face as it broke mine.
There are people that do get sick of characters like that. But... I honestly wonder why. How can anyone genuinely hate/get annoyed by characters who are so pure, nice and so good? Who represent any meaning goodness has? Who represent moral values? Who are heartwarming? I honestly can't look at the face of people who are able to be like that.
This song. The only song that I’ve ever listened to and got goosebumps on the first listen. I fell in love with it as soon as that drum roll comes in and that brass takes over. So beautiful, yet so tragic. I doubt that I will ever find a song like this ever again.
I disagree with the "most human" You played the game with 7 humans and they were all selfish bastards who were even ready to kill each other I think this is what humanity is.. and the point of Luna's character as a robot
@@optimaltt6070 Quark was a kid and ill and had many worries of himself but was scared to speak out. I would even dare and say he was a coward, that's what stopped him.
The first time I ever played I went with Luna and allied, I was so happy. :) Luna you might be a 'robot' but you were the nicest, most human character of all for me. By far my favorite character and when this started playing I started crying so hard.
SSJvegito501 To be fair, Quark mentions that Dio told him to pick betray but Quark didn’t listen to him and voted ally instead. Then he claims he was just joking, but Dio’s voice shakes when he agrees, implying that he did actually intend to choose betray.
If you're here only to listen to the music, beware: a lot of comments here contain several spoilers. Avoid reading them if you still haven't completed the whole game yet!
While you are correct, if you are playing any of the games in the series, you probably shouldn't be searching anything related to them on the internet until finishing them, just to be safe. They are incredible games and being blown away is part of the charm
Sigma: "How did you know about my ability?" Luna: *cranks bird cage-shaped music box* "A little bird told me." That was one of my first thoughts when watching Luna's ending.
At the end of Luna's ending I was literally crying for like 15 minutes. Her character is so goddamn well written, I very rarely ever cared so much about a character. Whenever I had to betray her, it just felt like my heart was gonna burst out of guilt. She's easily my #1 waifu ;__; I just can't believe that this game didn't sell enough to make a sequel. Both games in the Zero Escape series are considered as one of the bests or even simply THE bests Visual Novels ever made, for Haruhi's sake ! That just how sadly unpopular this genre is.
Darknesser Well, I cried too, but it was because it was 2 in the morning, and I was sleep deprived as hell lol. Luna is definitely a great character though. Lot of heart involved in her, despite the uh, irony of that.
everything about this song is perfect. It's relation to the scene it plays in, the progression, the instrumentation, the emotion, every thing is flawless. every time i think about this game, the first thing that pops into my mind is this song.
I recently finished VLR for the first time and am now playing ZTD. Gosh, I love Zero Escape even though the route it took after 999 was a bit of a surprise. This song made me cry more than just once. I wish more people knew about Zero Escape...
Some people jokingly say that Dio felt somewhat subconsciously close to her since she is based of Diana who was Delta’s(or Left’s) mother while Dio himsef is Left’s clone
@@trivia_dex Surprisingly that kinda makes sense. I thought it was because she(well....her kindness) resembles the girl in his past that got him punished by his cult.
I want this to play on my funerals. The songs start with a music box, reprensenting childhood. Then the song evolve into a whole new melody, meaning someone who is changing, growing up and learn. Then, when it's all over, the song play the music box again, meaning a whole new life started even if the person you love died. This song is a masterpiece. You can have many perspective from it and not so many melodies can give you this feeling. Shinji Hosoe ; you are an amazing composer of talent *tip the hat*
I picked betray with her for first time because of phi but then after I saw luna's reaction , I quit the play through and restarted it again, such was the connection I felt with her.
@@MooreIsLess1 Sadly it's the point of the Dio end, you betray Luna and Clover, the two characters that are the most vulnerable to this sort of thing, and that's how you wind up with him.
everyone talking about Luna and Quark's end (wich I understand, I cried like a baby in those scenes and im p sure this ost fits those scenes more) but I can never forget to remember when Alice tells Sigma about his father and stuff, idk why when Alice's father wrote "I love you Alice" in his chest before dying really hitted me, maybe its because I dont have the greatest relationship with my father but idk I coudlnt help but cry at that part, Zero escape is rlly good at making you feel stuff for even the smallest things huh. (sorry if my english was shit its not my main language :p )
I'm a bit of a completetionist. So of course I went back to get all the bad endings. Luna was the only - ONLY - character that made me not want to see the bad ending. I sat there in front of the Ally/Betray buttons and actually considered shutting down the game then and there. Of course, I did it and saw, and felt horrible. But the fact the Luna made me stop dead in my tracks, and not want to see her betrayed, dispite only being a silly game ending, shows how much of a strong character she is. Her ending stuck with me in a way that no other ending in this game did. Not even the proper, true one. Beautiful character, through and through. She alone made this whole game worth it.
The Reaper The ending was fine. Not as good as the endings of 999 or VLR but it was still fine. I honestly didn't expect anyone dislike ZTD or its ending until after the game came out and I looked up what some hardcore fans said. I still rank ZTD over 999.
I see a bunch of comments saying "Luna was the only trustworthy participant, the other players were just selfish!". The truth of the matter is though that these are all people who've never seen each other before, with their own things they hold important to them, with their own beliefs, and of course the desire to leave a sick and twisted game in which people can die. They don't even know whom of the others they can trust. They'll fight for what's important to them. It may look selfish from an outside perspective (and it may be true), but from their viewpoint it's always reasonable to at least some degree. (Trying to avoid actual spoilers:) Clover and Alice want to get out and get back to the very important operation they'd started. Even if it'd have cost his life, Tenmyouji wanted to save Quark, the person he holds most dear, who in turn was just a kid who got swept up in the madness. K lost his memories and wanted to recover them, and in most endings he had the intentions of getting help to save the rest of them. Even Dio truly believed he was doing the right thing, despite his actions being motivated by twisted beliefs and a twisted goal (though I'm not asking you to have sympathy for him lol). This is what they fought for, no matter the cost. However they were never heartless, and could never achieve their goal by bringing down other people's BP down to 0 or below (with the exception of one person). (SPOILERS:) And Luna? We of course know that she didn't have any intention of leaving the facility, and due to her being a gaulem, she was never in danger of actually dying, so she had no reason to betray. Besides this, she was following the laws of robotics, so she couldn't perform any actions that would bring any of the others in danger. Of course, this doesn't invalidate her feelings or our feelings toward her. She was a real person, even if not human. However, my point is that people having their own values, beliefs, and goals isn't just selfishness, and it doesn't make them worse of a person compared to someone who is loyal.
Out of all VLR endings, Luna's had me really off guard and made me tear up. I _did_ suspect her somehow being probably connected to Zero Jr. in some way (since in Japan moons have very strong associations with rabbits, in this case Luna, meaning _moon_, and Zero Jr., the _rabbit_). But... but... I definitely didn't expect it to end it that way. I actually teared up. MY WAIFU LUNA.
The entire series can be crazy and arguable about it's writing but they nailed it so much with Luna. The entire scenario did good in depicting the paranoia and how we have a point leading us to betray others. From their point of view and knowledge, the easy way out would have been if everyone allied. But like I said, that is where the shitty nature of humanity comes in. But then you have Luna who was standing out. I believe it is implied but still arguable if she became conscious or obeyed orders or simply was stuck in between. Matter of fact is, the robot made the most sense from having a heart, so to speak. Which is a stark contrast to how everyone else just goes to sacrifice and betray the other at some point. It's a nice social commentary, really. It's natural human behavior cause without exception is willing to betray someone given the right conditions. But Luna represents that what we could be but will never be. Fully trusting and loyal even in such a environment. I would like to say "Luna is being the most human character despite being a robot" but at the end of the day, it's hardly normal behavior from how humans are. But the Robot being a BETTER human tells a lot.
I have no idea what this franchise is, I was introduced to this song a long time ago bc of my favorite Minecraft RUclipsrs "Carflo" would use this in his Minecraft roleplays. But after reading these comments this looks like it as a really intriguing story.
I fear that you might’ve gotten quite spoiled already so my advice would be to just play the games, the Zero Escape trilogy is a hidden gem I swear. 999, Virtue’s Last Reward and Zero Time Dilemma - play them in that order. You might get bored or dumbfounded at first since it’s a fantasy visual novel that sometimes like to pull up some most random stuff ever and it’s definitely a bit hard to comprehend but if you’ll stick through you’re gonna have the best time of your life honestly
I expect to hear this and every other sad song from VLR played a dozen times in ZTD. Given that you're gonna watch characters die over and over again, it's a pretty solid given that Uchi is gonna try to tear our hearts out.
Thank you so much for posting the entire soundtrack to Virtue's Last Reward. This is one of the best games I've ever played, 10/10. And it has an amazing arrangement of music.
I almost let a tear drop for luna too... This is hands down the greatest game I have ever played, in the Q room right now so I won't scroll down but thank you Bolt2nd for posting the OST... this game is an absolute masterpiece and everyone should play it for nothing else but to make them think of who they are as people.
***** everything you said just strengthened my opinion of this masterpiece. I went and bought 999 and am playing that now, its ok that i played VLR first because its so exciting and fun regardless... who the hell cares!! Aksys games really has a masterpiece on their hands and it touches us on very deep levels, the crazy part is it doesn't matter what kind of person you are, this story will touch you for you and make you think. Love it love it love it all. IGN was right...I'm dying waiting for part 3.
this theme is Luna personified. it captures her kindness, her beauty, her selflessness, her longing to be able to do the right thing, her fear over everything she's gone through. the way it ends with the fading of the music boxes song is beautiful and saddening, truly touching the soul, just like Luna does.
the song is both insanely beautiful and sad at the same time. Shinji Hosoe is a really tallented composer and thanks to him the zero escape soundtracks are so incredibly memorable.
Well I might have used my world in a bad way. I mean the first fragment i took and finished was a branch with that song playing in the end... :/ Sorry for bad expression. Still my heart just broke
Guys have you heard what uchikoshi said in an interview??? ....wait I have it right here :''It's looking like 2015 will be the year where everything I've built up over the years will come together and be let out into the world in one fell swoop.'' Does this mean that we're getting our deserved end ?!
This music will always make me cry and remembering how sad Luna's story is too. I love to see all the comments in this video and all the love and care people have for her. Luna is such a great character, and despite not being a real human, she was the most empathetic and well, human, of them all. Luna will always have my heart and I wish Zero Escape wasn't so underrated, it's one of the best franchises I've ever played and the characters are so well made. It's so heartwarming and wholesome to see people loving Luna, I just imagine if she could see how much she's loved, she would be so happy. It's the best thing when she trusts someone and they pick ally, her smiling and happy face makes me extremely happy, she's so pure and kind and aaa she deserves all the love and trust of the world, I just wish I could hug her really tight ,_, I'm deeply sorry if I ever doubted you, Luna. Even so, I'm happy I chose ally. I'm happy I trusted you. I didn't regreted it and I never would. I love you, Luna. Thank you for existing. I will never forget you, and it's honestly a honor to have your name. I will always carry you in a very special part of my heart. For the one who deserves to be loved, Luna ♡
Thank you Todd from PBGGameplay for leading me to this beautiful piece :) Although because of when they used it, I can't hear this song without also hearing a million Blazes in the background XD
I have a theory as to why Sigma cared about Luna *way more* than everyone else *MAJOR SPOILERS OF VIRTUE'S LAST REWARD AND ZERO TIME DILEMMA AHEAD* I think Sigma subconciously knew that Luna was basically a replica of his now dead wife Diana, even before he was revealed to be old Sigma, that's why he felt such a close affection to her
I remember being so nervous in my first AB game with Luna. It was my first playthrough of the game, so I had no idea what to expect. I spent 5 minutes before choosing to ally. I was really nervous as I waited for the results. Then I saw: Betray. Ally. Betray. Ally. I was praying for Luna to choose ally. The wait was unbearable. And then finally I saw: Ally. Ally. I almost cried out of joy. It was at this point that I decided that Luna was my favorite character.
People in the comments are talking about Luna and Tenmyouji, but the moment this track played that I liked the most was Alice's confession. "So I... All I could think about was getting out of this place as fast as I could! It never even crossed my mind that it could kill you! God help me, even if it had, I don't think I would have cared! See?! I'm horrible! You hate me, don't you?! Just do it! Kill me! Get it over with!" I loved that moment. It was very emotional.
You know it's funny, while Luna was the only character to pick Ally everytime, Dio was the exact opposite. And yet he couldn't bring himself to betray her.. she's *that* good.
I literally felt so guilty betraying Luna to branch out the story so I would often Ally with her first before betraying her, at the very last section for her ending whether you ally or betray her I chose to ally first and got her ending, so following the logic behind the bad endings, I knew that there wouldn’t be anything but a bad end if I chose to betray so because I was so moved by her, I stopped at her ending and skipped the bad ending for hers. She was just that precious to me, to the point that I completed every other ending besides the bad ending for her route. And I honestly don’t regret it one bit. Even if my progress is 99% :,)
I'm sorry to say this, but Tenmyouji's ending made me cry more than the Luna one. I just' couldn't bear the feels I got from that letter. I, mean, his heart by have been hardened by life, but it's still Jumpy we're talikng about!
This game really shows what the time and how 999 fucked Junpei up he needed quark just as much as quark needed him and it's also show in how he talks about the biker analogy as different timelines he's fine knowing he might not get a happy ending if that means he'll still find quark
I think that one ZTD ending that has this song in it is equally as sad, if not sadder than the Luna ending. You know what ending I'm talking about. ;_;
Not really relative but can we agree ZTD was still a great game. I know a lot of people didn't like it for certain reasons specifically because of a huge paradox but personally I feel it was a great finale to the series. Also HYPE FOR THE 999 REMASTER INCLUDED IN THE "ZERO ESCAPE: THE NONARY GAMES' collection releasing for ps4, vita, and pc early next year. also included is vlr but I'm so hyped for voices in 999, that was the only thing that bothered me about 999 was the lack of voices.
This also plays in the Phi End. Spoilers: The fact that it is revealed that Humanity basically got nearly annihilated by Radical-6, the reactors going off. Survivors fleeing to the Moon to escape because all of it, it's kind of sad.
I agree. The fact that she allied every time, in a twisted way, made me suspect her a bit.. I feel bad, because she's the most genuine and sweet "person" in the entire game, and yet I thought it was a ruse.
People think Luna's humanity comes from her kindness, but to me that's a bit of a flawed assumption. To me Luna's appeal comes from her ability to make mistakes, like she said, she broke the laws of robotics, while normally robots are supposed to protect humans according to the laws, and for them the laws are supposed to be absolute. But Luna was forced to break them for the greater good, and that's makes it even more sad when you know that she didn't want to break the rules. While playing the game she tried to protect everyone the best she could, by chosing only the best outcome for everyone, she followed the laws to the point where she couldn't, and when she broke them she paid the price. She sacrificed herself to save Quark because she couldn't bear to see a kid die when she could save him. And it doesn't help that she was made to resemble someone else, and being made by Sigma she probably knew who she was inspired from, making it even more sad when she probably developed the same feelings as her original by the end. So while Luna did the best as she could, because of her lack of malice you could say that she failed to pass as a human until the end where she finally understood what it takes to be one. Humans makes mistakes, has malice, and break rules all the time and most of the time aren't punished for it. But to her, it only took one hint of humanity for her to "die". So it shows how heavy and weirdly wrong it is to be a human. It's one the things that this game does so beautifully, even in a fantasy setting, it shows the harsh reality.
I never understood the Three Laws of Robotics: if you are a robot and you have to follow a set number of rules then you are definitely not being human. The whole thing about humans and humanity in general is that we are flawed. We constantly make mistakes, behave differently from one another and not think alike. We do random stuff. We fear of death. So I feel like Luna’s character showed the perfect amount of humanity: she has broken the first law - she did something different, that wasn’t expected of her robotness. And why? She was afraid of dying - the sole reason of why people do the craziest stuff on earth. Luna also showed signs of self-awareness and self esteem issues. To which one could say that it was simply her programming, but having in mind what I said earlier makes her even more human in my opinion. She was sorrowful that she broke the first law(but if we take the 0th law she actually never broke any of them, but just her contemplating about breaking one is already something of a human characteristic), let others die(when she could’ve prevented that) and she felt like “a machine that just pretends to be real”. Her flaws made her seem more unpredictable which in turn made her human in my eyes
SPOILERS 999 and VLR are the best game i played in my entire life and believe me i played a lot of games. I really love morphogenetic sorrow and Blue bird cause it's so emotional. And for my favorite characters i really liked Akane and Luna. The one thing about Luna is that she acts like a human. More human than even a real human. I mean we people created robots to be programmed to do what we say and only do stuff on matter of calculation. But they exceed that law and does what is right. We humans are coward bastards who thinks only of ourselves and it really amazed me that actually robots are better than human in a lot of way. Akane on the other hand i trusted her a lot in 999. but I was damned. I never thought she would be that calculating and cold. I have to say that she was kinda creepy when i found out that she was zero. But she was one of the greatest masterminds out in the fiction universe and it's amazing how she pulled this off. And i have a spark of hope that she still have feelings for Junpei.
In the end, the only person who didn't betray anyone wasn't even a person :'(
+Tiziown The one who showed the most compassion wasn't even a human. T_T
+Tiziown
Tenmyouji is a pretty stand-up guy.
junpei is a selfish dick lmao
Adrian He isn't selfish, he had to betray the others in order to save Quark
and that's how he's selfish. he only cares for himself and those around him, and is overly willing to sacrifice those around him for said cause without the bat of an eye (see: betraying clover for quark, door 3, i can get others if needbe). he justifies himself by thinking himself as a hero or that he's doing good by helping those he cares about, but he's destroying everything around him in his attempt.
and then theres the whole akane thing, which reeks of entitlement and selfishness. he feels like he "earned" akane and then boohoos over the fact that she's not some object for him to claim and has her own goals and stuff to do (which is SAVING THE WORLD. HE CARES MORE ABOUT GETTING "HIS WAIFU" THAN 6 BILLION PEOPLE). he completely rejects her true self until vlr, which was barely acknowledgement, and even then still rejects the idea of it ("the akane i know isn't anywhere" no fuck she wasn't real)
junpei is selfish as fuck.
I enjoyed the irony that, for me at least, Luna had the most humanity out of everyone.
+Snapplebonbon It didn´t even occur to me... You are actually right ...
She definitely passed the turing test.
@@IschmarVI Wow! You are here too! Love your music. Would you be doing mashups of this series's music too?
Stop there are butterflies in my stomach
I know you wanted to say something cute, but humans are selfish. Luna really isn't like that
the man’s way on how to watch Luna’s final scene

I get physically sick whenever I have to betray Luna. That's good writing if I've ever seen it.
"But.... why? How could you do this to me?"
Even worse than when I picked the number 3 door in 999.
Right but as soon as I realized she was a robot, I didn't care anymore :D
*Well, spoiler ahead, even though the comment section is riddled with the same spoiler*
In the context of her ending revealing she is a GAULEM, in my opinion, not only makes her character more likable, but incredibly more interesting.
I really hope Diana in ZTD will be just as awesome as Luna!
DID SOMEONE SAY COMPLEX MOTIVES?
I read Blue Bird by Maeterlinck, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be to be honest lol

HOLY SHIT and luna for live never thought i could feel so much for a fictional robot character. The music box playing in the background of the scene killed me when I first played it.
Sigma: "Aren't you scared? I may be a machine, how can you trust me?"
Luna: "Maybe it's BECAUSE you are a machine that I can trust you"

Everyone here is talking about Luna's ending but not the other scenes this song plays in. Quark's letter wrecked me, especially since I had figured out who Tenmyouji was.
Never before has a root beer float brought about such an emotional reaction.
Even if I haven't cried there, it was clearly a great scene, the fact the he betray you to save his son, and after that, his son comes around with a letter detailing his life with his father in a apocaliptic world... certainly this ending is more like main quark ending while quark end is like a secondary ending.
It's because Lunas Ending is what gives meaning to this song.
Luna’s END gives meaning to this song, but Quark’s END in my opinion, makes it better
Luna.... I never doubted you for a second.
i remember even when the main characters started doubting Luna, when all hope had seemed to be lost, when you saw her outside the voting room before the door closed. I knew. I still fucking knew she was who she always appeared to be. That's why I hit that Ally button 3 times in a row

Huh. I guess you're right. I'm not crying, so you shouldn't! - Q (I think that's what he would say...)
Its more heartbreaking if you betrayed luna.
I just think that’s masterful writing.
until she tosses quark alone into the [redacted] and leaves sigma and phi to probably rot
@@LampreyKissesSeriously. Sigma & Phi had every right to betray Luna after learning her identity
You know what I hate about VLR? The fact that you can't forget everything about it and relive the experience.
Super late but I knooo. Just rewatched a play through and forgot how meaningful the Quark ending was
Virtue's Last Reward is the one game that I would choose to erase my memory of to relive again.
Tbh that's the only thing I hate about most visual novels.
VLR is gonna become one of them.
very ironic because the whole point of it was so Sigma would not forget his experiences
This ending.... gosh did I love it. The main character just said "fuck it I'll stay trapped with Luna" and ran back inside the 9 door just to be with her a while longer.
I had trusted her from the start, but pushing betray just to get the other endings made my heart ache. That tells you how good that character is.
My heart broke every time I had to betray Luna, or every time someone betrayed her.
She's also the only character that never chose betray. Makes you feel even worse.
THIS WHY SHE IS SO LOVEABLE
To unlock luna s ending you had to jump multiple times. Sigma knew he could have got out in other ways
Being voiced by Laura Bailey didn't hurt.
When I saw Luna outside the AB room.. There was no way I'd ever betray her. I smooshed my finger on the "Ally" Option as hard as I could.. Her good ending can break a hardened face as it broke mine.
If she looks like a human
Talks like a human
and acts like a human
then she must be human
and if Sigma wants to look up her skirt like a human...
I expected to get sick of Luna because she was always so positive and didn't have a selfish bone in her body. She ended up being my favorite :'-(
Yessiree. Didn't have a single selfish bone. Or any bones, for that matter.
Yea each other character in the game at some point was a dick to you or betrayed you to escape, but Luna always was an ally, she's the best
Luna physically can't be a dick

@@davidharris9515 Well, she sorta leaves you and Phi to die in Luna GAME OVER 2 (Ally, Ally, Betray), but she also saved Quark so?
There are people that do get sick of characters like that.
But... I honestly wonder why.
How can anyone genuinely hate/get annoyed by characters who are so pure, nice and so good? Who represent any meaning goodness has? Who represent moral values? Who are heartwarming?
I honestly can't look at the face of people who are able to be like that.
This song. The only song that I’ve ever listened to and got goosebumps on the first listen. I fell in love with it as soon as that drum roll comes in and that brass takes over. So beautiful, yet so tragic. I doubt that I will ever find a song like this ever again.

Even Dio didn't betray Luna, shows up how much of a jerk you are if you've betrayed her.
Some people jokingly say that Dio felt somewhat subconsciously close to her since she is based of Diana who was Delta’s(or Left’s) mother while Dio himsef is Left’s clone

Zero Escape 3 is actually happening. Nothing can make me sad anymore.
+VN Reader ZE3 will, by making you care about the characters even more.
That's what you think.
But the ending sucked, I think that's pretty sad.
The Reaper The ending was fine. Not as good as the endings of 999 or VLR but it was still fine. I honestly didn't expect anyone dislike ZTD or its ending until after the game came out and I looked up what some hardcore fans said. I still rank ZTD over 999.
VN Reader
I finished the game last night, it might be why I hate it, but it just didn't feel right to end it on a cliffhanger.
With the exception of two people, actually. SPOILERS

Luna was the only character I felt bad for betraying. When pressing betray, I said "Sorry, Luna. It's just for this timeline. I'll come back for you."
I think Sigma subconciously knew that Luna was basically a replica of his now dead wife Diana, even before he was revealed to be old Sigma, that's why he felt such a close affection to her
I remember being so nervous in my first AB game with Luna.
Just do it! Kill me! Get it over with!"
I loved that moment. It was very emotional.
Same thank you i was looking for a comment like this it was so well written
this is such a powerful song
This world does not deserve Luna
本気で泣いた。
You know it's funny, while Luna was the only character to pick Ally everytime, Dio was the exact opposite.
And yet he couldn't bring himself to betray her.. she's *that* good.
“This feels….really nice..thank you.”
Words cannot express the feels that were felt by me in this game.... especially with Luna and Tenymojii...
A beautiful track for potentially the most human member of the 9.

Ironically, she isn't even human in the first place, but yeah, I agree.
It's heavy irony, that the most emotional being in this game, is in fact, a robot/GAULEM.
@@CantaPerMe Well didn't expect you here.
Tears were shed. This musical piece is absolutely amazing.
Even if my progress is 99% :,)
now thats simping
Luna's ending was the one that got tears from me. It's the music and the her story combined into a deadly weapon of emotion.
I'm sorry to say this, but Tenmyouji's ending made me cry more than the Luna one.
I just' couldn't bear the feels I got from that letter. I, mean, his heart by have been hardened by life, but it's still Jumpy we're talikng about!
Jumpy is better than Junpei Iori, no questions asked.
Jumpy is the superior Junpei, always.
This game really shows what the time and how 999 fucked Junpei up he needed quark just as much as quark needed him and it's also show in how he talks about the biker analogy as different timelines he's fine knowing he might not get a happy ending if that means he'll still find quark
this entire series broke me. superior storytelling.
I think that one ZTD ending that has this song in it is equally as sad, if not sadder than the Luna ending.
You know what ending I'm talking about. ;_;
phi's/sigma's or the twins one?
+Rufure **spoilers**
twin paired with d-team force quit. Made me tear up like crazy
Are we talking bout the complex motives ending?
+Jumpy doll True dat. Luna's was the original sad ending.
This song is so beautiful. I have tears. This is absolutely brilliant.
This also plays in the Phi End.
Spoilers: The fact that it is revealed that Humanity basically got nearly annihilated by Radical-6, the reactors going off.
Survivors fleeing to the Moon to escape because all of it, it's kind of sad.
Maybe our world is no different, covid 19 literally killing us, but someone finally know the vaccine
oh god lunas ending, I teared up, she was the sweetest one
the amount of plot twist this game have tho
I agree. The fact that she allied every time, in a twisted way, made me suspect her a bit.. I feel bad, because she's the most genuine and sweet "person" in the entire game, and yet I thought it was a ruse.
This is the most fucking gut-wrenching song in any game ever and I haven't even played it.
Marek MMK229 true
play this damn series
Just finished Virtue's Last Reward finally and.. WOW. Amazing game!
Oh Luna.. T-T
SPOILERS
999 and VLR are the best game i played in my entire life and believe me i played a lot of games.
And i have a spark of hope that she still have feelings for Junpei.
i finally got this ending today. Why did i even pick it up. The feels!!!! D;
My tears cried.
Of Luna, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, hers was the most... human.
She wasn't human .... she was better than that
Someone needs to make an extended version of this.
I can't stop listening to such an emotional track! :'(
Best ending in the game... Just as emotional as 999's true ending...
1:45 instant goosebumps. I can't get over how good this game is, the music plays a huge role in that.
I cried so much :,( ... I loved Luna ...
I always have a soft spot for music box themes, and this song is no exception. :)
Zero Escape 3 in a few minutes ... I've got hope !
Lautael - Psychologue de la Ligue Anti-Spoil And your hope was right!!
What a masterpiece....
Im so so disappointed I only just discovered this amazing series
It’s so good
just did the luna ending. she is easily one of my favorite characters ever now. i just want her to be happy...
