There was going to be only one winner... William Shatner has reinvented himself so many times that he should get an award just for being William Shatner... it’s because of him and James Spader that I watched Boston Legal, wanted to become a lawyer and move to Boston..
Been re-watching Boston Legal and seeing William Shatner as Denny Crane, is even more rewarding than the first time. His little facial expressions, the eyes, that smile, makes him adorable, funny & believable. He deserved that Emmy!!
William Shatner dislikes watching himself perform. He claims to have never watched all the episodes of Star Trek or Boston Legal, or any of the Star Trek movies, except while editing Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, which he directed.

I dearly love Bill Shatner. He’s been a part of my life since I first saw him on Twilight Zone,Star Trek,TJ Hooker, and all the other Shows and movies he’s been in. One of my all time favorite actors.
Prescient choice of clip for Shatner there: "You will not beat me." He warned them all. Denny Crane. Brilliant show, wonderful character, and the best male friendship ever put to screen. Flamingos til the day they die.
I was a fan of the original Star Trek, but Denny Crane in Boston Legal was Shatner's best work, without doubt. Alan Alda was also terrific in WW. I would have agreed with either as winner.
It was wrong that Shatner won the award. He was in the wrong category. Denny Crane was a comic role. Shatner should have won for best comedy performance by an actor. I don't remember any great dramatic scenes that Shatner did playing Denny Crane. It was a Comedic character.
I do. I think that's the beauty of Shatner's acting: Those balcony scenes with James Spader showed that Denny was a serious guy who used a comic facade. More than once those balcony scenes brought me to tears. Just my take on it.

Shows great depth
Alan Alda - he ripped up his speech. Priceless. I wanna give him an EMMY for the cutaway.
+Rationology LOL
hahaha
If he thinks he was better than Shatner he was wrong.
Yea, sour grapes? Not sure why he needed to do that. Not real classy I'd think.
@@spudthegreaterusa8386 Maybe he knew he was on camera and being a really good improviser, he decided to do something funny?
He and Spader - back to back Emmys for playing the same character on different shows.
Should've walked up on stage and said, "Denny Crane, the one and only."
Shatner created one of the single greatest characters in television history. Pure magic.
Denny Crane!
You’re crazy 🤣
@@mirrorgrain5476 Gosh, thanks. Too kind.

I agree
In my opinion only, he was born to play the part. Period. 👍
mine too
Wrong The part was written purposely with hopes He would play the part.
He is not acting. He is Denny Crane.

Alan Alda tearing up his acceptance speech was a nice touch.
He should have won an emmy for that! Best spontaneous moment in an awards show
Alan Alda he was from Mash right about Army Doctors 🥼 👨⚕️ right and West Wing President Show about Political
@@StephenKershaw1 didn't you see him laugh and smile when william shatner won? he was playing a bit when he ripped up his speech and it was great

William Shatner deserves every award he gets.
Kirk Forever!!!
I use to love Boston Legal. Was so much fun! He made the series.
Just keeps reinventing himself with the different TV shows, as a writer, a singer, a director, documentary host, pitch man and an astronaut.
Never lost never will. Denny Crane

The only and only Denny Crane
William Shatner has great acting on Boston Legal in season 1.
jwelch5742 all seasons not only the first
Yes💯 he was my favorite..lol
@@technologic667 The Emmy voters has a opinion and so do I.
I am disappointed he did not just say "Denny Crane" and left the stage
Actually, he would have said "Bill Shatner" and then left the stage since the Denny Crane character seemed to have been based upon him
Excalty
God blessed him
Genius !!!!! And Jimmy.🇦🇷❤💪
I am so thrilled he won 2 emmys for Denny crane. To this day sometimes I just say Denny crane out loud. Then I have to see…DennyCrane
The only thing wrong about this was him being a supporting character.
The entire show was basically centred around Denny and Alan.
Alan Alda's reaction to Shatter winning... priceless!
Denny Crane is a riot, and Shatner did a grerat job as the character!
Oh wow!!!! That is amazing!!!😁 I wondered why I didn’t know anything about it until now?
He should have walked up to the mic and simply said, "William Shatner."
Simply true.
Two words describe it all.... Denny Crane
People actually annoyed at Alan Alda cause of this clip just shows he’s a great actor.
1:05 Alan is like I lost to Bill Shatner , classic
Captain James T. Kirk wins a prize.
Alan Alda ripping up his speech was great. Showing his temper and what a spoiled man he truly is
He should've gone up to the Microphone and said, Denny Crane! Who won again? Denny Crane? oh yeah. Denny Crane!
what's up with Alan Alda ripping up his speech.. ?
alan alda did a "nancy pelosi" - hilariousl.
Okay Alan Alda... we get it, you wanted to win.
James Kirk thanks you
A great actor. Who knew Captain Kirk could be funny!
I adore Alan Alda!!
Alan alda was so good tho
DENNY CRANE!!!!
Shatner didn't deserve this award. He basically played himself and just changed his name.
I'm disappointed he didn't say Denny Crane!
If it wasn't for him there would be NO Star Trek.
Denny Crane
Way to go Denny Crain I mean William Shatner. I guess it will be Cigars and Scotch after that! 🧨🔥💨🥃 Cheers!
wow Alan Alda
The immortal Denny Crane
"Who's your daddy ?"
:54-when you realize that was a Star Trek v Star Wars moment.
Alda could always audition for Pelosi: The movie.
William Shatner was Boston Lega's best-supporting actor? If he was supporting, who was the star?
he submitted himself for that category. james spader was in lead actor and they both won. 2 years in a row
I did not recognize CPT James T. Kirk
william or denny crane?!!!
did alan alda actually make it a big deal to tear up his intended speech? wow.
He and Shatner are good friends...That was all a joke
Lol! Alan Alda tears up his acceptance speech. 🤣
Lock and load Danny
DENNY Crane, not DANNY.
MADELEINE WUNTCH
did Pelosi get the idea for tearing up Trump's speech for Alan Alda?
Terry should have won.
Took long enough!
Should have ended it with Denny Crane
DENNY CRANE! DENNY CRANE- not Danny Crane- who is Danny Crane?!
Денни Крейн, Денни Крейн, коровье бешенство 😅
