Looks great. I think your getting catches and chipping because your tool rest is to low. It should be set so that the tool your using is either right in the center or slightly higher.
Hii, the mug look awesome and I want to make one myself. One with coffee beans seems really cool. Made a river table en small tray before, but never a mug. Can it become a problem if you don't use a pressure tank? I don't have one.
Can you pour this Total boat epoxy this thick without a pressure tank? I am just curious because it seemed to cure way to fast and there are still bubbles on the epoxy.

Tool rest is WAY too low. The tool should be cutting right in the middle of the blank, on a line even with the point of the tail stock - and carbide tools are held parallel to the floor, “flat”, not at an angle- keep them sharp with a Trend diamond stone All the best to you!
Great work on the Mug but I have one question and that is before you start making the mug I noticed a big ring around the top of the mug that you sealed with hot glue and then put the PVC over the top of the whole thing can you tell me what that ring is and what it is made from and it's purpose ? I am a little confused :) i look forward to your help Cheers ian
If it melted the hot glue that means that you had the hot glue in contact with the epoxy as well as you were possibly using an epoxy with too aggressive of a set curve which has a very very strong thermogenic reaction

How do you mean? To drink from? If so it is a stainless still insert that holds the fluid also epoxy once fully cured is food contact safe it's a polymer plastic.

It's a seal to stop the epocy from leaking out or into the inside of the mug insert
So i did something simmilar a few days ago and the epoxy melted the hotglue when it started its reaction. Can somebody tell me what i did wrong?
