- If your getting a Bad Checksum error, RTC Battery Low, Set Date and Time, or 0251 errors on your Lenovo laptop, use this video to see how to troubleshoot it and then fix it.

Mine was stuck in a boot loop with bad checksum error. I couldn't access bios from the F12 menu but I found if you power off and power on and spam F1 non stop it will allow you to get back into the bios. From there reset settings to default, set the time and date and save/reboot. Then it should boot up again.

Your touchpad is not allowing you to edit? Have you tried the tab or enter keys? Can you not navigate to them or are they grayed out and not changeable?

But my F1 key is broken and I can't turn on my windows 7 is there any other way to get into bios?
How is the key broken? What brand computer do you have?

@@aniduel9583 Have you tried using an external keyboard? What do you mean, you cant turn it on? What exactly is happening?
@@PC_Monkey I had that idea but my did ignores me when I say that. So if I turn it on it's says press F1 key to set date and time so I can't go into bios and I can't go into my normal homescreen until I press F1 and fix my date. This thing happened because I left my laptop for too long without changing it.

If you need the power adapter to turn the computer on, then you most likely have to replace the battery.
@@PC_Monkey thank you for the reply... But its weired here... Only with direct power input laptop turn ON with 0251 error... But it stay like that with its regular battery. Giving me error as u mentioned in video tag....
@@rinukumar7770 If you remove the battery, and only turn on and use the computer with only the power adapter, does it run well?

If that fails to help, consider replacing the CMOS battery as it could have become faulty or dead.
I have a Costco hp df0023cl laptop that I have had for 2 years. My battery was losing maximum charge so I replace the battery (HTO3XL) After I installed the new battery I couldn't start my laptop so I plug my charger in and it started up and I received a CMOS 502 ERROR. I then unplug the charger and the laptop work and held the charge. I shut down the computer(after 3 hours) I tried to power up again without the charger and it wouldn't power up so I plugged the charger back in and I received another CMOS error. my laptop date and time work fine once hit enter after I get the CMOS error. is this a CMOS battery problem?
Hey I have a Lenovo thinkpad x1 carbon. I fixed the date and time issue but now am stuck in another loop. The sequence is that the Lenovo screen appears, then the windows logo appears and says welcome while loading, then it flashes to a blue screen and restarts. Nothing I do seems to fix this error

@@PC_Monkey this seemed to work nicely, thank you!!! Only issue now is the battery isn’t working. I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting and resetting the bios but the battery does not show as connected anymore and only works on direct power in from the wall.
Do you think it’s time to replace the battery or is there anything else I can try?

Now i maybe know how to change the whatever battery but yeah thx alot it fixed the problem with that time thing but the bad checksum uff

@@nastasidarius6962 An overheating computer can be damaging multiple different components if not resolved. First, make sure that the fan and vents are clean and clear. If you need help accessing the fan, let me know what brand and model computer you have and I can help you get inside it. If that does not fix the overheating issue, then try replacing the thermal paste on the CPU and if needed, the GPU as seen here; ruclips.net/video/K_j4GPjpawk/видео.html. If that fails too, replace the CPU
I have a yoga 11e thinkpad 5th gen. To give some context as to what happened before i got this error, i had just let my laptop do an update and i let it run. Then I get a bad cheksum error every time I boot up the laptop and then it reboots doing the same thing as mentioned before, its as if some sort of loop. I've tried going into the bios but that brings up the bad cheksum error, i've replaced the cmos battery but still to no avail. any ideas as to what i can do to solve it?

What if you have a HP laptop ? I sent mine in for repair because of this. First day i used it after recieving it back it was fine. Now every other time i use it the checksom bad error pops up.
Your CMOS Battery could be dying if BIOS keeps resetting your time/date settings. Try replacing that.
i have a Neo Lenovo laptop, when i turn on my laptop it says, "error 0251, and error 0271..

I dont get many Neo computers in my shop so my experience is limited. However, you may have a bad HDD. I would try replacing it if a new install of the OS does not help

@@5guys53 If changing the settings in BIOS didnt help your situation or you cannot manage to change them, move on to try the reinstall of Windows as seen here; ruclips.net/video/Wu0c8wR5Ltk/видео.html. @@PC_Monkey none of this was my problem. when I push the on button to start the laptop it come on saying "0183: Bad CRC of Security Setting In EFI variable. Press F1 to enter Setup".

PC Monkey hi yes it turns on but not fully. Starts to load and then goes to a push f2 for set up and I push f2 it goes to a black with white words. I have a picture but don’t know how to send it to you

@@joannemurphy1688 Thanks for copying and pasting that error !! That helps diagnose whats wrong :) That error refers to your computer trying to find another source to boot off of because it cannot locate your hard drive. Either the hard drive has become loose, or is damaged.
I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. That is where you unplug it and then plug it back in, making sure its properly plugged in and secure. Try the scan again. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see how to do that here; ruclips.net/video/PLiCtwOBuxk/видео.html

@@PC_Monkey hi, thank you for your replay, so i left my lenovo yoga 14 for 5 months off because i couldn't find the charger!, now i get 0177 badge svp data stop task massage right after the black thinkpad black boot screen, then it will turn off, i tried to keep hitting Enter to take me to bios no luck, disconnected the battery, bios battery and charger, and using power button to train all the charges, then put everything back, no luck.
