Dude, I absolutely LOVE these narrated build playthroughs. I seriously can’t get enough. I was hooked the entire time! Excellent content as always, my man!
I dont play Outward now, but dude your videos were the only resource I used to help me progress. Tried to go in blind for a while but got frustrated. Thanks for your efforts!
Outward is incredibly brutal when you have little knowledge about mechanics, monsters, and the world in general. The more you know though, the more fun you can have. Glad the vids helped you out!
I love how in the start of this you seemed to be anticipating how slow and imbalanced the great axe is but you had no problem absolutely clobbering everything you came across. Great video!
@@SheenShotsyou should try fade to silence it's a souls like survival game it's not perfect but it's decent has some unique survival elements/mechanics.
The amount of impact in the world as a whole with the idea of Tsar bullets. The level of vitriol that went into that idea shows how much hatred the caldera rebels had for zephyrian
Tsar stones are the rarest item in this entire world. To take a life changing gem and melt it down into a single use bullet is wild. I mean whatever gets hit is never moving again, but wow that's a lot of effort for any one target. Now that I think about it... what happened to the other bullet? 2 crafted but I think only one used.
@@adamxei9073 She was shot by the second bullet. The reason Elatt couldn't save zephyrian but could save Queen Calixa is because she had to become living thought by sacrificing (Willing) members of the holy mission. Dialogue from game. (#1) (She breathes with difficulty... Her body is numb and paralyzed from the poison. Her armor somewhat softened the blow, but the bullet still pierced her skin. Elatt's power is keeping her alive, but just barely.) (→ end)
This looked so interesting, got the game last night, and holy crap this game is a different beast. Every fight feels like a very real struggle for survival.
It's really something else. Very unpolished at times, but they really tried to make something different and great and that wins me over. Sure, the story delivery and a lot of the explanations could've been more fleshed out. Did we really need to borrow the Dark Souls buff system where buffs only last for like 30 seconds (rags and potions I mean mostly, as food buffs last much longer)? Did we really need skills to CONSUME your powerful buffs on use? Did the quests and interactions need to be so incredibly vague? I don't know, but Outward absolutely oozes passion and charisma and a willingness to try something different and unique, so I always go back to it periodically. I've never even "finished" the game outside of doing the Levant quest one time. But it's sooooooooooo damn cool, and cozy.
Another outward movie 10/10 Also please use legacy more if you do more of these (I know it's alot of work) I think it's awesome to show off some of the legacy items
Legacy chests are really cool I agree. They also take you to places at least one place I guess that you otherwise would never go to. Ill take a look at some fun options for the next run for sure.
I would say both one and two handed axes are in a league of their own. The special attack combo gets a 1.3x damage and impact multiplier on all their hits, which is nuts. You can trade a bit of offense for better defense in making a build, and still deal as much if not more damage than other weapons thanks to the special combo. The only real downside to the weapon is the stamina consumption, which is something you have to specifically build for moreso than any other weapon type. It’s a bit akward to get pain and confusion on a 2h axe, but you can come up with something if you really need it.
Great video! I love how you tell the story and explain the lore as you progress. I ran almost the same build but with more of a focus on cooldown to use skills more often.
Me and my brother used to play outward together all the time, then one of our controllers broke so we couldn’t anymore, now we’ve fixed the controllers and we can finally play this beauty again
I am actually kinda happy you made another video, I reinstalled my game and was heavily considering also doing the bow set up as it looks alot of fun, I havent played alot but remember struggling alot with the game. The more I watch, the more I can learn. Also the long form content makes it fantastic to have on.
Bow is an easy one to learn that is only hard when you can't find iron. Melee combat is honestly the peek form of Outward combat, but its really hard to make to flow smoothly until you are more familiar with monsters. Glad you enjoyed this vid!
Hey man! good to see you back on Outward... I started looking at your channel because of this game. You helped me a lot on understanding WTF was going on LOL. Let`s go Outward 2!
Early game corruption plan... don't go there. lol not all that helpful but ya without any coin simply stay out of corruption at all costs. Once you can at least buy a potion or two sanctifier potions are sold in every town from every alchemist. So they should be enough to keep you untainted.
Love these vids. I made a no magic run with board and mace. Worked really well. I managed to make a horror mace.. which was rediculously strong at this point in time. Also had the tower shield. I managed to get enougj money to buy out the spellblade tree (gong strike). With that, the horro mace, tower shield, blue sand set.. i felt immortal... so of course with that inflated ego... i attempted to go for the skycrown mace.. Cleared the trash mobs... but the cannibal messed me up.. first death... was my only death as hardcore claimed my attempt. Lol Started a new one, same concept, mace and board, but gonna watch myself as i go. No matter how strong i believe myself to be. Lol
Horror mace is still an absolute monster that you can acquire easily. First cannibal doesn't sound or look hard right away, but he can very quickly catch you from which you can't recover quickly. That cave he is in can feel a bit crowned as well which makes dodging a tad harder. Mage and shield is actually one of my favorite combos for the paladin feel. A fun way to play through the entire game really.
My main focus on runs like these is not to use too many of the same items. And while I agree it makes for better content, I also think it makes the game more fun for me. Relying on different resources to go through each quest gets very interesting sometimes.
Man this got me to go back to Outward after a while. I love seeing these long, narrated videos. Not sure what you're thinking for the next video, but I think a rune and/or chakram build would be interesting, similar to the Wolfgang warrior in the arena. Alternatively, chakrams always seemed cool but I could never get the hang of them. It is a monster of a weapon for sure. Still my favorite weapon in the game to build around I think. especially since the move set on those weapons are really strong.
Man, this run came at such a good time; I've been fiending for more Outward myself, but I can't risk playing it since the update apparently caused all kinds of major quest breaking bugs on PS5, which is the only place I can play it. Until they roll back the patch or release a bugfix, I will have to content myself with watching other people enjoy this game.
Honestly i always do a greataxe playthrough. Set up right and they hit like a truck. One tip though. If you talk to burac at the gate with cloth fist weapons on, he'll teach you enrage for free after you jump through the hoops of "getting ready" to leave town. I found the skill invaluable for my playthroughs. Another tip, uou dont actually have to fight the ghost, im pretty sure you can drink the wine and you'll still get the tsar stone
Enrage cane be a monster early on. I like execution there as well because of its high damage boost but totally agree that's an excellent way to go. Started out not liking the axe much and grew to love in a single playthrough. Was a blast actually.
I played with dreamers haldberd, saw the greataxe in caldera and looked up how to make Grind, changed my entire outfit to boost physical dmg and use an axe, come to youtube and see your axe video. Say "sweet imma learn something for my Grind grind", and first sentence "it is the hardest weapon to play outward with" .... fuuck D: Great vid tho!
One thing I discovered while doing an only dagger run is that. You can enchant really early an iron weapon with unsuspected strength, killing the light elemental in the Voltaic Hatchery and picking up 2 dreamers root to make the admiral incense
Watching this gives me hope, only just started playing a little while back but playing with Big axe and Bow, clearly need to upgrade as some of these look great.
Bow and big axe is even more interesting. You can set up fights with your bow by inflicting things like pain and then move in with the axe. Also lets you avoid melee combat with monsters you aren't very good at fighting.
I dont understand what some people are upset that Outward 2 wont come out this year or next. Everyone needs to remember this game was not made by a massive game studio it was made by a small indie team i mean *small* they said a long time ago that when they were making the game that they didnt wanna be tied down to a release date/dead line they wanted there own time to work on it and what came out is a masterpiece in my opinion for a small indie dev team. Its like a open world dark souls like game before elden ring came out ofc i know theres some other games that were like that but this is one of them thats actually is good. And i also see people complaning that Outward 2 will focuse more towards Roleplay... Roleplay for a game means that world will change based on your choices not by dressing up as a anime character and going to weebcon whatever the fk its called idc. But the point is that its going to change the world you clear a fortress of shi now ppl live there and theres shops and a carvan showing up or join the people at the fort and commit crimes to join them. Oh shi theres a village under attack you fight off the attack save the town and no longer on fire or you help them raid the village and burn it down and now its a friendly bandit camp and your on good terms with them and can join them even learn bandit skills. Also RP can be being a knight or a wizard or archer some lord of the rings shit... Your not him lil bro😂. Your choice. So thats what they meant by roleplay.
Well what a great presentation. Very enjoyable. Thank you for your effort. If I was one quarter as good as you, I might actually defeat a litch . 7000 hours of game time still cannot beat one. So a litch weapon won't make my armory.
Go grab yourself some entomber armor from the tailor in levant. Use a decay boon and you will then be nearly immune to decay which is the only damage he does. Now grab any weapon and a lightning varnish and you can trash him in probably 20 seconds. Light mender is tough, but jade lich can be tanked through no problem in the right gear.
Nice, please make this a series with all weapon types. Would also love a run with the cerulean saber with the rainbow hex enchantment and rust lich armor.
@@SheenShots My favorite build since its highly modular, you can use it with elementa shield, manticore dagger or pistols. and after using rupture you deal even more damage.
Another great video, I love these videos. One question, do you know Enshrouded? They say it's good. I haven't tried it yet, but what I've been able to see is similar to Outward. Maybe you'll like it.
I have heard of enshrouded and looked into it. As far as I know it is still in beta. But I will definitely check it out when it fully releases at least.
Greataxes are amazing. And stamina consumption to DPS ratio is really good. But they are probably one of the hardest weapons to master. Same as hammers and maces
when fighting the Tuanasaur in conflux mountain you can take a left at the bottom of the path along the water and run through the hole, he cannot fit through it allowing free hits as long as youre careful
Myrmitaur name explanation: The "Myrm" part is a reference to "myrmidons", a Greek term appearing in Homer's Iliad referring to the soldiers commanded by Achilles. They took their name from their ruler, Myrmidon, who was the son of a princess who was seduced by the god Zeus (supposedly, in the form of an ant. Greek mythology is weird). In classical Greek, myrmedon translates to "ant nest", or ant people. That's why the myrmitaurs appear in a cave that is very similar to an ant nest. The "Taur" part is a dual reference: a centaur is a mythological cross between a horse and a man, and it also references the Minotaur, a cross between a man and a bull that guarded the labyrinth that Daedalus was imprisoned in with his son Icarus. The Minotaur was the offspring of the daughter of King Minos and Zeus (again. Zeus was very, VERY horny for a god), this time Zeus took the form of a great bull, hence the half-bull bit. The star constellation Taurus, which is also a birthsign, is in the shape of a bull. Hence, the name "myrmitaur" - Ant/bull hybrids. They charge aggressively, they have two horn-like protrusions on their heads, and they hatch from eggs in a nest very much like ants. Horrifying to contemplate, but undoubtedly quite creative on the part of the developers of Outward.
Mixed Spellsword/Rune Sage/Hex Mage, it's so much fun. My wife tanks it and applies confusion while I stack hexes and place traps before I pop all of the hexes at once.
Yes this is a very cool way to go. Lots of access to different magic options. heck of an option in coop especially to avoid having enemy attention all the time.
I've always wanted to play this game, it's been in my steam library for years but gosh is it damn janky and slow but when I see people play it makes it look so fun
Once you get a handle on how things feel in combat it gets WAY more fun. Starting out it does feel clunky and difficult to react to enemies. Well worth the time investment if your looking for long term content to play though.
@sheenshots you chose the exact same breakthrus that I did for my first full melee character so that makes me feel better. I just got the Dreamer Halberd and it’s great!
I don't like taking all three most runs because its a lot of focus on attack skills. But as long as you keep alpha sandwiches at the ready they are readily available for every encounter. Dreamer is a beast. I still think one of if not the best weapon in the game.
I think for this type of build, whiplash is still better overall. Perfect strike already deals raw damage based on your weapons' current damage damage. Since the raw damage of the poltergeist enchant can't be increased by physical damage buffs, you essentially lose half of your damage bonus outright.
I was not 100% sure if either would be better than the other at first. Here's what I concluded after messing with them though: Whiplash is generally a weak enchant since it grants very little damage increase. However, it is quite strong on tsar items alone because they get a much higher base damage multiplied. So for a standard build where you go all out on physical damage, say maybe zagis armor and all that, Whiplash is best. Or Kasite armor as well gets nice physical buffs. Poltergeist is the biggest buff you can give most weapons since now super weak physical damage can just be converted into something that always cuts through HP. For tsar the advantage is never worrying about enemy weaknesses specifically if you use wind infuse your damage never suffers. So ultimately it comes down to how you design your build which is great to see. I think because I wasn't focusing on physical alone my choice was the better option for this specific run. But then one single armor change and Whiplash is ganna be way better. Heck I think you can get over like 120 some physical in a single hit with whiplash, discipline, and zagis armor.
Uhhh 2 things... 1 you can craft a wooden club to fight the beginning hyenas OR dismantle everything and craft 2 tripwire traps and some wooden spikes. Bring both through the traps and boom done.
Great advice for people new to the game. Do be aware however that is does not apply to this run. Greataxe only means no one-handed club or tripwire traps.
My first play-through of the game I used great axes. They're super simple. The short range, multi-hit heavy attack, and ability "Execution" seem like good game design that clearly indicates how this weapon class should be played; stick close and pummel your enemies. Honestly, I feel like the game could be completed with just the heavy attack and Execution. They're that good. Slap on some heavy armor and just tank-and-spank the game. I did. That being said, I think there is a very low skill ceiling. The short range, slow attacks, and long-commitment to the heavy attack chains don't lend themselves to tactical combat. You really won't learn the technical aspects of the game and combat when it is so easy (and necassary because of the short, slow, clunky moveset) to brute force your way to victory.
I totally agree with your assessment here. When I first tried greataxes they just felt clunky. Ya the combos are awesome, but they also lock you into weird and more unpredictable movements. Especially early on in the game you can't rely on armor to fix this issue so I always switched to a different weapon. Actually giving the item time to grow with my build made leaps and bounds. If you can stun lock enemies during crushing combos the combat feels more fen than ever.
the glowing backpack has a hidden feature, the light he provides (as well the zhorn dagger) dont break your stealth, making it a good choice for steath dagger backstab builds. shame is that the ennemy AI can random roll outside a backstab when they didnt even seen you....
After you've done an all main and offhand weapons run (If you even consider doing that at all) could you do a Mertons run? Where you have to have all of Mertons items equipped? It would essentially double as a no armour run so you could kill two birds with one stone. :D
@@SheenShots Mertons poker is a Mace right? You could combine that with Mace infuse and elemental discharge. That is the hardest counter for ice witches I've ever found in this game. (Besides clobbering them). I guess speed would also be a big factor. Dashing away from enemies instead of rolling could help too maybe. It's an interesting challenge nonetheless.
Mofat is Raiden man he lives 4ever would be not suprised if he appeared in Outward 2 xD, also you should have buyed sweep kick that would combo with the onslaught confusion status and you could use execution often
Yes sir. I stopped for several reasons mainly my brother bought a dog. And then got a different job lol. So I have been taking care of him until by bros training is all finished. Here soon we will be back to a normal streaming schedule.
I remember seeing this game a long while ago on Steam and thinking it looked pretty interesting, but I decided not to buy it in the end due to the mixed reviews. I wonder if it's worth buying now.
A lot of ppl got the game expecting dark souls, it is not dark souls. There are flaws certainly but i think the mixed reviews tend to paint a little bit of an unfaur picture sometimes. That being of comparison.

I can't wait for the halberd/greatsword run
Man took an entire paragraph just to make sure weebs caught some stray shots. Bro who hurt you?
Really enjoying this video :) Seriously love the effort you've put into Outward content. It's S tier shit man
ok now do a guns only challenge run
Insane videos
Looking forward for dagger only run
Well what a great presentation. Very enjoyable. Thank you for your effort. If I was one quarter as good as you, I might actually defeat a litch . 7000 hours of game time still cannot beat one. So a litch weapon won't make my armory.
Go grab yourself some entomber armor from the tailor in levant. Use a decay boon and you will then be nearly immune to decay which is the only damage he does. Now grab any weapon and a lightning varnish and you can trash him in probably 20 seconds. Light mender is tough, but jade lich can be tanked through no problem in the right gear.
That was a great watch keep it up super entertaining
Nice, please make this a series with all weapon types.
Would also love a run with the cerulean saber with the rainbow hex enchantment and rust lich armor.
Funny thing is... I have never done a run like that. Lol it is one of the most known builds and somehow I have never fully built it.
@@SheenShots My favorite build since its highly modular, you can use it with elementa shield, manticore dagger or pistols. and after using rupture you deal even more damage.
Th...that was awesome. Cant believe I watched the whole thing.
Love your videos keep it up 👍
I have the weird habit of finding hidden gem games days before a sequel is announced
Nice video, realy missed these
Another great video, I love these videos.
This video has me hyped for Outward 2.
Heck ya. I am prepping a little early if you can't tell lol.
@@SheenShots Any news yet from devs?
Greataxes are amazing. And stamina consumption to DPS ratio is really good. But they are probably one of the hardest weapons to master. Same as hammers and maces
i came for the remnant stayed for the good content!
As someone who doesnt like this game one bit because of the garbage melee combat this was super fun to watch. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
high quality content as always :D
when fighting the Tuanasaur in conflux mountain you can take a left at the bottom of the path along the water and run through the hole, he cannot fit through it allowing free hits as long as youre careful
OMG OUTWARD VIDEO LETS GO. (And greataxes are the best)
They are far better than I originally thought. Actually crazy strong once you get into them.
You're making me wanna play outward again lol
I love seeing Outward content in 2024
Myrmitaur name explanation:
The "Myrm" part is a reference to "myrmidons", a Greek term appearing in Homer's Iliad referring to the soldiers commanded by Achilles.
Dress, strawhat and 2h axe kinda goes hard.
I've always wanted to play this game, it's been in my steam library for years but gosh is it damn janky and slow but when I see people play it makes it look so fun
Once you get a handle on how things feel in combat it gets WAY more fun. Starting out it does feel clunky and difficult to react to enemies. Well worth the time investment if your looking for long term content to play though.
once you learn it is so much fun
@@goodnamepleaseplease i'm really trying man ;-;
FireBomb Academy send his regards.
SUCH A FIRE VIDEO I LOVE THIS CAN YOU PLZ DO MORE
GOAT is BACK
@sheenshots you chose the exact same breakthrus that I did for my first full melee character so that makes me feel better. I just got the Dreamer Halberd and it’s great!
I don't like taking all three most runs because its a lot of focus on attack skills. But as long as you keep alpha sandwiches at the ready they
are readily available for every encounter.
Here's what I concluded after messing with them though:
Whiplash is generally a weak enchant since it grants very little damage increase. However, it is quite strong on tsar items alone because
they get a much higher base damage multiplied. So for a standard build where you go all out on physical damage, say maybe zagis armor and all that, Whiplash is best. Or Kasite armor as well gets nice physical buffs.
Poltergeist is the biggest buff you can give most weapons since now super weak physical damage can just be converted into something
that always cuts through HP.
You should do Outward with only Merlot's bones/poker.
(Effectively a no-armor run)
Oh dang that is a tough one lol. I'll put it on the list!
I JUST got over my outward addiction!... One quick run through cant hurt right?
20 minute adventure... in and out. Then a whole month goes by lol
BOMBACLAT MORE OUTWARD
If you can stun lock enemies during crushing combos the combat feels more fen than ever.
i love these long videos. can you do punching-kick build
So a knuckle build with a focus on kicking skills as well. Huh that is actually a really cool idea. I will look into it.
nice axing. But can you beat Outward definitv edition as a Troglodyte?
the glowing backpack has a hidden feature, the light he provides (as well the zhorn dagger) dont break your stealth, making it a good choice for steath dagger backstab builds.
shame is that the ennemy AI can random roll outside a backstab when they didnt even seen you....
LET'S GO SHEENSHOTS
After you've done an all main and offhand weapons run (If you even consider doing that at all) could you do a Mertons run? Where you have to have all of Mertons items equipped? It would essentially double as a no armour run so you could kill two birds with one stone. :D
Oh man that would be a tough one lol. I mean definitely doable but no good armor would really make things challenging.
Welcome back
OUTWARD at 2024 ? I love U !!!
Mofat is Raiden man he lives 4ever would be not suprised if he appeared in Outward 2 xD, also you should have buyed sweep kick that would combo with the onslaught confusion status and you could use execution often
True I never even thought of that. That would have been an excellent replacement for push kick which I stopped using about the half way
point.
Will you try streaming again soon Sheen? Great content recently, good work.
I found ya from this video, would love a sword and shield video ^^
Sword and shield is a classic. Should be able to do something with it!
@SheenShots can't wait ^^
