  • My apologies for the horrible quality.
The 1984 theme song for the Magic Kingdom's Space Mountain at Walt Disney World.
Music by George Wilkins, Lyrics by Larry Gertz.
    Lyrics:
    We've come so far,
yet there's so very far to go
We've watched our dreams become reality
We have tasted what the future has in store for us,
and realize that we hold all the keys
    CHORUS:
And tomorrows filled with promise stretch forever
The future's like the never ending theme
Our lives are joined together, by the wonders of today
And the world we'll build together with our dreams
Dreams about tomorrow and the hope they bring
a better world for people everywhere
Shining like a beacon in our universe
Showing all the world how much we care
    CHORUS:
And tomorrows filled with promise stretch forever
The future's like the never ending theme
Our lives are joined together, by the wonders of today
And the world we'll build together with our dreams

I was just buying the 1994 "A Souvenir Disney Songbook" on ebay recently when this song popped up in its list of arrangements, and it caught me off-guard, I had no idea they'd make sheet music for this!

Can't believe they managed to put lyrics to the Space Mountain Entrance Theme.
This needs to be played at the exit of every Space Mountain and at the end of the operating day at Epcot.

You can actually match this up with the star tunnel music and the entrance music. I tried, and it's all about timing. I may make a video about this.

Actually it was reverse. This was the "theme song" for the attraction as originally sponsored by RCA. What you hear in the entrance chamber and star tunnel are instrumental arrangements of the original song.

I believe the Star Tunnel music is actually the instrumental version of We've come so far (Promising Tomorrows)

This song perfectly encapsulates both the theme of Space Mountain and the hope for humanity and our future. It's so beautiful and melancholy, it's absolutely perfect

Disney should put this back at the end of Space Mountain, but re-record it with RCA artists of today.

Totally agree. Wish they could release a higher quality of this one, on LP, Cassette, CD, download, and streaming! Everyone will hear what's not heard, like a time capsule just opening to reveal the lyrics being sung, but in a higher quality

That's where it was use in the 1980s early 1990s (actually, just after the exit walkway speedramp)

U can find sheet music and lyrics to the song (not the star tunnel arrangement though, but it could help figure that out) in a Disney Parks souvenir songbook that was published late 80s or early 90s... find copies on Amazon pretty easily...

Really? I would think it goes somewhere in the pre-show due to it being the same tune as the pre-show, but I guess they were just trying to keep the same song throughout the attraction. Thanks, btw.
