Warren is one of the tastiest players of all time. I think the real secret is his timing. He's always slightly behind the beat. My favorite player of the 80's by far. Nice to hear him get some kudos.
RATT really started rolling in 84 when I was 16 in highschool still one of my favorite bands, Warren is a guitar god, absolute LEGEND. Warren will go down in history someday as one of the best to ever play guitar. LEGEND........
I have noticed pinch harmonics give us guitarists a kinda universal reaction. When they're just perfect and you go like "uhhh mmmm" and you just laugh because that was just too good and WOAH dude wait you know?
Very pleasant video. I love the licks. I didn't realize I already knew the licks in most part, but really fun picking up the little things that makes them a lot better.
I agree, when this video showed up I seen l Eddie and Warrens names and took a look. I was playing my axe at the time and I realized It was the positioning of his licks that was a little different than what I was playing already. Ad his ideas with mine and I already know them. The dude was right when he said it was all the time he spent practicing, I found myself ripping and shredding too and I owe it to all the hours I have put in. Peace.
Thanks you I really appreciate for the lovely comment and kind words , I just want to say thank you for the supporting of my music I hope you won't stop listening to my songs? I want you to send me a direct message via hangouts using my personal email . Also endeavor to add your name to the text so I can know you are the one texting because I don't reply unnecessary messages Hangouts mail:stevewariner120@gmail.com..
A great example of Warren's brilliance can be heard on Back For More. One of the coolest parts of the solo is the last run, when he throws in a major 3rd after he's been playing Aoleon for the most part. It completely takes your ear by surprise!
Brett, you've been concentrating on major type stuff lately, but you've played all this stuff in your earlier videos. He's damn good but you're right there with him imo
That is how I felt after leaving his house haha! You would be surprised though the style will seep in even if it is not at that speed. It's not a race just about how it feels.
Did U look into fender Fuse? I left U a link on that comment. I know U could build us some awesome tones and backing tracks Here's last time I will bug U about it. Ha Ha fuse.fender.com/mustangv2/presets/
He can really play!!! There's so many great players these days it's endless! I just discovered Johnny Monaco who played with EnuffZnuff and now is with Steven Pearcy of Ratt. Guy is a killet!
This guy is Steve Wariner’s son! He grew up around great guitar players. I would love to know where to buy the guitar parts to make a Charvel style guitar like that.
Looks like he's combining the E Dorian mode and E minor blues pentatonic scale. Very insightful video, sounds great! Eddie and Warren are two of my favorites as well.
Wow, what a player. I hope I'm not revealing too much here, but for those of you who don't know, Ryan's dad is a fantastic player, singer and performer. I was hanging out with my cuz and former bandmate Joe Diffie backstage at the Opry sometime in the early 90's. Steve was back there and we chatted briefly - super nice guy and amazing player. Guess the apple don't fall far from the tree, huh? :)
His dad is amazing! Saw him one of my first nights in Nashville! Just absolutely ripping it up on an acoustic! You are right he is a very nice guy. Definitely in the genes!
Another great lesson; thanks 'stache.. Question for you.. do you instantly know what every note on every fret on the neck is? Any tips or techniques to help with that? Maybe a lesson even! Best regards, from England!
Yeah I am gonna have to go get my burn cream because my face just melted off. On a side note Brett you are a shredder as well my friend. I have watched a ton of your vids thanks for the info
the audio makes it unwatchable here. and i was looking forward to the evh//d-mar demo. dang. i willn ot keep turning volume up and down to adjust to the clip's extreme differemce in audio levels.
These riffs are so fun to play, it is funny that they are hard to play slow. You guys know what I mean. Some riffs are just learned at speed and when you try to teach em, ya lose your way kinda. It is really the fact that they are so expressive, and call for attitude and a bit of anger, very subtle edgy type of feel. When you have to think about it, you lose all that fire that comes with playing the riff. I find myself frowning or opening my mouth slightly when riffing off-the-cuff lickety-split type of shit. I do not pick every note, hardly ever. Warren does not either. It is very legato ,quick phrasing that comes off with attitude and aggression. I love Warren , and EVH! I think Ed is the best rock guitarist who ever lived, along with Jimi. I do not play any Hendrix stuff, and never did. This guy is really good man. I enjoyed his playing , and liked the vid for sure!!
Oh hell yeah Frank marino was a ass kicker!! I am a Older guy so I remember him very well😁 that live record got wore out from me lifting the turntables needle off to go back to a previous part! Frank either made you wanna play all the time or quit and get a plumber job!
This guy has an old school soul tone that doesnt lent itself to van halen or warren dmt . Way more ( to my ear) as a high end blues player . Obviously a really good player but the fingers dont lie . I hear allmans and steve morse
If ever there was an excuse to buy another guitar just for screaming 80's metal this tutorial was it. Jesus. So tempted to go out & buy a Charvel. But then, in the words of Satchel from Steel Panther, "......if you are shit & you have a great guitar you will still be shit." (I took the liberty to paraphrase but he was bang on the money). Back to practice.
@@BrettPapa this might just be the best interactive, chill and off the cuff, learning video I’ve ever encountered. Seriously- your questions + his tips helped me bust through a plateau I’ve been stuck on for years. Thank you
May have been a lot more helpful if he didn't have all that delay on. It's far too distracting while trying to follow this guy's frantic teaching "style".
papastache102 well Im not taking nothing from you either I watch your videos for a reason!! I play Death Metal my self but Ive always been a sucker for them 80s killer riffs and my friend you got it in your blood brother...Ive already learned quite a bit from you. Thanks for showing us
Best licks start at 0:00 and end at 29:01
Haha!
Diego Tobar I agree and good video too.
Warren is one of the tastiest players of all time. I think the real secret is his timing. He's always slightly behind the beat. My favorite player of the 80's by far. Nice to hear him get some kudos.
Agreed! He is the man of the 80's!
Huge fan if Warren - Major mojo
RATT really started rolling in 84 when I was 16 in highschool still one of my favorite bands, Warren is a guitar god, absolute LEGEND. Warren will go down in history someday as one of the best to ever play guitar. LEGEND........
Man he just nails perfectly that warren’s vibe ! So inspiring ! Those angus young licks at 17:30 were on point too !!
Yep, he has got it down!
I have noticed pinch harmonics give us guitarists a kinda universal reaction. When they're just perfect and you go like "uhhh mmmm" and you just laugh because that was just too good and WOAH dude wait you know?

Great video. Please do more of these!!!!!
Will do! More on the way!
All great. Good show to
Excellent video! I can play the notes well at 4:50 - 5:05, but the picking he does sounds incredible. If I could just get that down..
Brett, you've been concentrating on major type stuff lately, but you've played all this stuff in your earlier videos. He's damn good but you're right there with him imo
Wow, thanks! I'm going to be doing some more vids with Ryan soon! Should be awesome!

you can get so much from just talking to those guys.
That guitar should be called the Myth Buster! Never gonna be able to play like that but was really fun to watch!
That is how I felt after leaving his house haha! You would be surprised though the style will seep in even if it is not at that speed. It's not a race just about how it feels.

Nice time watching this one.
Awesome! Glad you liked it.
This video is pure gold
Thanks for checking it out!
Hello, wasn't he using his fingers along with the pick ?
Came across this on the Groomed Noodlers page on Face Book. This is THE most refreshing video of this genre on RUclips. Keep up the great work.
Sweet! Feel free to spread it to all of those you think would enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
This guy is Steve Wariner’s son! He grew up around great guitar players. I would love to know where to buy the guitar parts to make a Charvel style guitar like that.
I think he talks about it in another one of our videos together.
And what effect were U guys using
Looks like he's combining the E Dorian mode and E minor blues pentatonic scale. Very insightful video, sounds great! Eddie and Warren are two of my favorites as well.
Sounds good to me although I have know idea if you are right haha!
papastache102 The E Dorian mode is the same scale as E natural minor but with a raised sixth. It's used commonly in blues rock.
Yes completely correct E dorian and E minor blues pent. Warren is a ridiculously talented guitar player who gets very little recognition.
Wow, what a player. I hope I'm not revealing too much here, but for those of you who don't know, Ryan's dad is a fantastic player, singer and performer. Ryan's Dad is a Legendary Country Guitarist who can really smoke clean tone so it runs in the family !
For sure!
the audio makes it unwatchable here. and i was looking forward to the evh//d-mar demo. dang. i willn ot keep turning volume up and down to adjust to the clip's extreme differemce in audio levels.

@HUWAN CLAN Negative. Parts guitar.
Great guitar players = Wariner squared! WOW! Is that Matthew McConaughey’s twin doin’ the interview lol. Can you spell “ doppelgänger” lol.
Haha!
This was click bait - Warren D. and EVH?!? Ryan's hands, the hot pickup, and that THR10...egads! Great video!
+RipVW68 thank ha! Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
OK...I watched again. The 29min video that took 50mins to get through with all the backing up. Great stuff! Keep it up PS102!

Glad you liked it. New vid with Ryan coming out soon!
Are they active pick-ups .that is hard to get
Just regular ol pickups! Maybe bare Kindle? I think he says what they are in other videos we have done together.
Oh hell yeah Frank marino was a ass kicker!! I am a Older guy so I remember him very well😁 that live record got wore out from me lifting the turntables needle off to go back to a previous part! Frank either made you wanna play all the time or quit and get a plumber job!
Lol totally!
What guitar is that ? Got any info... ?? : ))
He made it. Bought all of the parts and his buddy put it together.
Crazy
Yep!
what amp was it and what guitar is it
It's a little Yamaha practice amp. It looks like a little lunch box. The guitar is a parts guitar he had put together.
Привет ребята!!! Видео просто супер!!!
Excellent....-:))
Hay doze this guy have lessons on RUclips thank I help me out heaps
No but he posts all the time on instagram. No lessons but you can pick up a bunch from watching him.
I'd love to see him bust out some of these riffs in the middle of a Jewel show!!!
First time I saw him he threw down some pretty wicked slide licks! She even said something!
Wheres the whammy bar gone ????
Great question!
What guitar is that?
He had it made.
Damn! That's beautiful. Wonder where he got the body. Thanks!
I love the way bret trys to dumb it down for beginners, im pretty sure he can play all this stuff in his sleep too!
Lol! Not like Ryan he is a total beast!
Please use a lowcut for the Mics…
Haha man that was years ago traveling out of a backpack and it’s a free video lol!
Ryan should sell these guitars make a fortune
For sure!
4:49 5:00
This guy has an old school soul tone that doesnt lent itself to van halen or warren dmt . Way more ( to my ear) as a high end blues player . Obviously a really good player but the fingers dont lie . I hear allmans and steve morse
He likes it all!
Is Ryan related to Steve Wariner? Country artist and great guitar picker.
+Rod Dahl yep that's his dad! Runs in the family to say the least haha!
Essentials
Shades of Eric DeMarhalen!
Ok. Why are the comments in a different place now?
Haha! Not sure!
Its funny,...Eddie is mentioned just before he begins and then almost all of the playing sounds much more like Warren DeMartini...lol
He is a huge Warren fan. Ryan plays Eddie perfectly though. Ryan can pretty much play anything lol!
These the licks people should be teaching .but on RUclips only showing scales and basic lead.
Ryan has some killer phrasing! One of the things that helps him is he really is an ear player and doesn't rely on scales all that much.
9:36
11:14
11:16
11:18
I see thumbs down... who the hell would do that?
Someone who is jealous of Ryan's mad guitar skills haha!
papastache102 for sure! I learn some great stuff off this video. Thx!

Haha! Check out the new Friedman guitars they are sick!!!

STILL WATCHING THIS VID N COPPIN LICKS 🤘🏽🫡🙏🏽
Awesome!
pass the stash papa
Who gives a video like this a thumbs down ? Some wanker I'm sure . Awesome licks thanks poppastache
Sure thing!
ive noticed that the best players dont know most of all this music theory and when they do isnjust the basic stuff.
Happens a lot
Funny..He seems just as surprised to figure out how he plays all the various parts he plays as the rest of us..
I am haha!
@@BrettPapa this might just be the best interactive, chill and off the cuff, learning video I’ve ever encountered. Seriously- your questions + his tips helped me bust through a plateau I’ve been stuck on for years. Thank you

Just high on life!
May have been a lot more helpful if he didn't have all that delay on. It's far too distracting while trying to follow this guy's frantic teaching "style".
Having said that, he is an amazing player.
More with him soon! That was his first video teaching ever, I thought he did great!
I thought Marty was wearing a wig.
Haha!
joe bonamassa has nothing on this dude, holy crap
Ryan can rip it up with the best of them!
Thats what selling your soul looks like....sickest riffs and not knowing how you did it...
Haha! His whole family is that way! They are all incredible musicians!
