Westinghouse Vintage

- (Recorded September 20, 2013) This fan shown here is what I've been told is the Westinghouse Vintage ceiling fan.
This is by far one of the worst fans that I've filmed for youtube to date. This is located at a cottage I stayed up at in Ludington, MI.
This fan wobbles so bad on the low speed when in downdraft mode and I'm afraid that it's gonna come crashing down to the ground because of how bad it wobbles.
Forget about air movement with this fan. Air movement is like next to nothing.
This fan is shown on a four speed wall control The speeds are shown in order are Low, Medium, High and Max and back to High. However, when I put the switch on max, it seems to slow the fan down a little. Not sure of why it was like that.
Other than that, nothing special to report about this fan.
*Easy install, so far Works great **Fastly.Cool** !*
If the chain is on high, and "high" is faster than "max", then the capacitor in the fan is bad. I have a Harbor Breeze Teak that did the same thing, and it's basically a single speed fan that came with a 3-speed remote kit; "high" was slower than "medium", and "medium" was also not too fast either. I did replace a capacitor that was inside the motor housing, and it brought speeds back in order; high is now faster than medium which is always faster than low, and it also spins much faster on high! I have 2 videos of it, one with a bad start capacitor, and other with a new start capacitor.
It is just Vintage, not Vintage II. Yeah, the "High" looks slower than "Max". If you see my video "Hampton Bay Bay Island ceiling fan: dimmer switch", you would see that the dimmer switch speeds up the low speed to near medium when it is turned down.
Jeez, seeing that wobble on the low speed would make me run out of the building far away!
maybe i think that because i have a fear of ceiling fan wobble which then makes me think that it will fall down.
By the way, it looks like the chain was turned on medium. If it was on high, the "Max" speed would likely be slower than "High" speed.
Wobbly and COOL NICE VIDEO
This fan has probably been messed with or hit from ppl who have stayed at this cottage before, of course you probably already know that lol. But these fans actually are not that bad. My best friend has two of these in his house, both are mounted on a cathedral ceiling just like this one in this video. Both are white and brass, with frosted globes, and both work quite well actually. As for the shaking that this one does in the video, the two at his house do the same thing (the one in the living room seems to be worse on low speed) but its as if the screws that hold the motor to the pole are not screwed in tight enough (of course both fans shake like that). They are really nice looking though. And they are quiet (I think, i havent seen the one in the living room run for a while)

I also saw a Hampton Bay Gazebo in Dave & Buster's. It has an evil Lutron Skylark dimmer (or a solid state speed control) mounted on a high ceiling. It was close to minimum setting for about 6 years, but it went back to full setting (probably on October 2012 during a remodel). When it was close to minimum setting, high speed was slowed down to about 35 RPMs, but the low speed was sped up to about 80 RPMs, and medium was pretty much the same (about 120 RPMs), making it spin the fastest on medium position instead of high position. But when the switch was back to full setting, it spins the fastest on high position just like it's supposed to. I do have a video of it on all 3 speeds with both switch on full setting and close to minimum setting.
Yes I pulled the chain and had it on all speeds.
I have a couple wall controls at my house.
this what happened to my ceiling fan in the kitchen but what happen was my adjusting something on the ceiling fan i guessed he turned on the ceiling fan it started to wobble and unscrewed the pipe on the ceiling fan
the blades are bent that's why it wobbles so much
I know that the blades were indeed bent.
pcdoctor2 It wobbles that way because set screws in downrod coupler are not tight enough.
The Channel of Random Ceiling Fans yes, the fan need a repair
Did you try pulling the chain to check and see if it was on high? Because it is, the capacitor must be bad since I saw a video of Westinghouse Vintage spinning faster.
do you think that it's on a plastic box as well maybe that's why is shakes badly? (including the bent blades)
That is super scary if it shake badly then could fall down):
It isnt speeding up because of capacitor
Must be a bad capacitor then. If you watch my video of Hunter Summer Breeze ceiling fans in Cam's NY Pizzeria, you would see that one of them literally spins about 70 RPMs on high. I couldn't get it to spin any faster no matter how many times I pulled a chain.
The chain was on high. The Max speed is indeed slower than High.
It's wobbly and noisy buzzing ceiling fan
its just needed to be replace with a hunter original fan
@arvin doan Yes it possibly could.
Replace it with a 52 Hampton bay brookhurst Fan
I think I know the problem to this thing...
Bad capacitor and bent blades. The control itself is fine.
Nice fan
Is wobble
Yes I did.
