  • My grandmothers vintage jewelry box needed some love, watch me diy restore it to its former glory with its original costume jewelry contents.
Seriously, I redid all the velvet lining in the drawers, sanded and recovered all the actual metal of the drawers, wood glued the cracks in the base, removed the nicotine damage (she was a smoker) and repainted the exterior, polished all the metal parts, made ring holders, and just sealed the whole thing. SHE LIVES! I feel like a pirate with a treasure chest. Also my cats are cute and you can follow them @naomiandsushi on insta, or me @variasdesign You can also watch me do these types of projects on Twitch @variasdesign and shop my stuff on etsy also @ VAriasDesign . You can buy foam hair rollers to use for making ring holders. Or could even buy rolls of foam tubing like they sell at home depot for home improvement purposes.

What did you use to clean the original velvet with? I am attempting a similar project.

I used a vacuum a lint roller tape and then carpet cleaner but test it first because some of mine were too far gone and the color changed slightly so the worst spots I replaced with new adhesive backed velvet

What did you do to clean the exterior? You mentioned paint, but what kind? I'm working on a similar project but only want to clean up the outside.
