Simon you constantly amaze me in your ability to find compositions that are so simple yet beautiful walking through the woods and a field. I would typically walk right by most of the images you see and are able to create. Your vlogs are always help calm me down with your soothing voice and the pace of your vlogs. I am so glad that Thomas Heaton mentioned you in his vlog or I would have never known of you. Best of luck with your hernia surgery. Hopefully the third time is the charm. I will miss seeing your work for the next little while. Good luck with your recovery.
Thanks Jim for your lovely kind words. The comments such as yours always please me. I really had no idea that my photography could have this effect on others. My operation seems to have gone well and so i'm spending time catching up on things I can do lying in the sofa
Simon, these images and the way to deliver your vlogs are just first class, they give inspiration to get out amongst nature and try to capture its beauty. Hope all goes well with the op and wishing you a full recovery.
Beautiful video of a peaceful and tranquil shoot. I've a couple of days off at the end of the week and i am going to go hunting for some delicate little flowers. Thank you for the inspiration
The cuckoo flower image, 10:50, is fantastic, to me a real keeper. Beautiful photos from excellent angles. Thanks for the educational and entertaining video, Simon.
Love the beautiful simplicty of your images and how you found them in a somehwat bleek landscape. Wishing you an easy and speedy recovery. Take care of yourself.
What a lovely video and learnings about macro and flower photography, Simon. Your videos, examples and lessons are so wonderful. Hope your health issues are resolved soon and you can share more of your photography knowledge with us when you’re ready.
Best wishes for the op and recovery. Peaceful came to mind just before you said it ☺️ I would call the first group of flowers a Hamlet. Gorgeous images.
Wonderful calming video. Superb images. Simple yet exquisite. All the very best with your operation & look forward to seeing you fit and healthy in the future.
All of your videos give me goals. Subjects are quite different, you being in a northern woodland, and me being in a southwest desert, but I like the way you vary from quite cluttered ground shots to individually focused, single flower shots.
Good luck with the operation. I hope all goes well. I also want to thank you for inspiring me to go out to in my neighbourhood and to look for the beauty that is every where and to capture it with my camera. I can easily lose myself for hours.
Beautiful photos Simon really enjoyed your video thank you for sharing it. Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery and will look forward to seeing more when you are fully recovered take care
Simon, your video is wonderful and I especially like your description of the setting...poetic doesn't quite do it justice but it comes very close. Best wishes with your upcoming medical issues. I look forward to joining you back in the meadow!
Beautiful images as always Simon. Really like the one with the fly, strange how that makes that image. The first is also really beautiful, very calming image. All the best with the operation and recovery, third times a charm as they say.
Hello Simon, I particularly liked your first and final images. Such shallow depth of field and using the grass to soften the images make them painterly, especially the final image. Lovely images! Good luck with your recovery. I suffer from bad joint problems myself. Take care.
I have to say Simon that bit where the audio failed gave me a little chuckle with the voice over and the footage - it's just the kind of thing that I love. Hope all goes well as you head into another op and recovery. May you look after you so at the right time you can be back out for some more photography. Rest well hey. And we can wait for you to be at your best. The bluebell image with the fly was indeed much more interesting. Loved that last image! Stunning and simple. Go well.
Such lovely images. My favourite is the the pink one - probably a female thing! Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing you back on here when you are fully recovered.
Nice and peaceful indeed Simon. As you spoke those words I was thinking about the differences between the experiences of "being there" in the field, searching for comps, setting up, distilling the distractions and clutter, getting the shot....and the experience of passively viewing the result. There is satisfaction in the doing and a sublime peace in the viewing. Nice shootin' my friend. Also, a comment about the bluebell shot. 2 shots, same composition and 2 totally different emotional reactions for me. With the fly - it becomes the subject obviously, dominating his terrain. Without, the blue bell is standing tall, alone, contemplative....I'm rambling. But I enjoy these juxtapositions.
Glad to read that the images cause you to think so deeply about them Ted. It's not rambling at all and I for one enjoy reading about your take on the film.
Ever since I subscribed to your channel I am constantly amazed by your ability to find fantastic images in a places I and many others would've walked past. Good luck with your surgery, hope it will go well and recovery will be speedy!
I only had one frame with the droplet on where the flower was also in the right spot. Things shift around so much at this magnification when you're hand held.
It just doesn't seem right giving a video a "Thumbs Up" when the person making such a great film says they're going to suffer through a third hernia surgery and be out for six weeks! But, as always, the photography and advice are awesome Simon. Good luck with the recovery and looking forward to you coming back healthy and better than ever! BTW, it's interesting that you mentioned garlic mustard. Here in the Upper Midwest of the U.S., garlic mustard is a hugely problematic invasive species crowding out the native plants.

I love your videos Simon. I’m a 75 year old Aussie Bloke and I need all the help I can get, your attitude and Manner are easy to watch and follow. I’m in the process of going from shooting in A mode to Manual mode, I have four years of home tuition, this week I am staying in full manual mode. (In Sony A/7/3 ). Ouch.
It's much easier now than it used to be Neville. Just pay attention to that histogram in live view mode. Thank you for your kind words and don't let age be a reason.
Another wonderfully calming film Simon, your attention to detail never ceases to amaze me! All three images in my opinion were equally stunning and certainly the way you managed to capture the fly on the bluebell gives added character. I particularly like the composition and focus technique of the three flowers in the first image. Your love of nature and commentary information is, as always, an added bonus! Wishing you well for your recovery and thanks again for sharing this.
thanks for the video and especially the talk thru of composition which is a great reminder to really think before the click! hope all is good for you after the correct recovery time..take care
Hi Simon! Three flowers, three surgeries. Hmmm. Stay away from 4 flowers or more- don't want to tempt the wood fairies! Sublime images. I wish I had the courage to lay down on the tundra. The better half is battling lyme 9 years on. The buggers ate one knee cap and a heart valve. They love cartilage, and once burrowed in, antibiotics can't get to them. If I could find a way to avoid the blighters, I'd be face down in the mud in a heartbeat! Meanwhile, I'll join in vicariously. Best with that surgery!
@@SimonBoothPhotography Hi Simon- USA, Massachusetts, so northeast US. In fact, I'm a short hop from Lyme, Connecticut, aka ground zero for the tick entrance into the mainstream consciousness.. Cheers!
The raindrop was a lovely “kiss”.
My. what an artist you are. We will all miss you, and get better soon.
Thanks so much Jeffery. I'll be back out there soon hopefully.

Hope all goes well with the op and wishing you a full recovery.
Thank you Angel. I often wonder what I can do to improve them through fear of them becoming a bit run of the mill?
All three photos astonishing with the last one being my fav! As always, inspiring.
Thank you Daniel
Wow, I like both blue bell shots. The fly is definitely an added interest.
Little things often make all the difference. Thank you

You are welcome Alex. I'm really happy how that one worked out considering the niggling horizon. I just managed to exclude it.
Simon, what else can I say other than that first image was absolutely exquisite.
Thanks David. I see this flower so often at this time of year but it's the first time I've ever photographed it.
Simon, you are a wonderful artist. God speed on your next surgery.
Cheers Terry. I'm pretty much mended now...fingers crossed.
