just entered the hue universe. three spotlights and one double spotlight. two floors. two dimmer switches. hue app by philips is limited, so i suggest everyone tries paid apps like huedynamic. you can program the buttons on the dimmer, like press or hold. for controlling more rooms, create zones in your home. ive heard people complain about hue for ages, but for now ours is working just fine. next step is tryin ikeas tradfri rgb bulbs to save a buck or two, and huedynamic app has a switch for tradfri compatibility. fingers crossed that works, because almost 100$ for three gu10 rgb bulbs is quite expensive.

I live in a 2 floor flat and invested in Phillips bulbs, the hue bridge, dimmer switch and spotlights. I do not recommend it for the simple reason that the bridge can only work on one floor. I'd hoped to connect my entire flat lighting, not possible for two floors. Also this dimmer switch can only be used for one bulb and when Phillips updated their app I found that 3 of my light bulbs in the bedroom no longer worked with the app, even after manually entering the serial numbers. Will honestly not recommend Phillips hue to anyone with a house unless you are prepared to buy a hue bridge per room etc. Waste of money.

I bought the starter set with Bluetooth bulbs. It came with bulbs, the switch and the hub (which I'm not using). First thing I did was connecting the switch to the bulb, it worked. Afterwards I downloaded the Hue Bluetooth app and set it up. Now, after that, I can't use my switch anymore, I also can't connect it again doing this. It isn't connecting even after resetting it (by pinching the "setup" button on the back and also by pressing the four buttons at the same time). I don't know what to do anymore, and I can't find ANY information online. The switch just won't work and just started using Hue today!

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

No electrician required until you want to use it in a bedroom for example. Most light switches are located at the entry to a room and if you don't bypass the switch, then someone (wife) just turns off the switch to the room and the hue is useless.
Need to have an electrician bypass the switch, then remove the switch and place this over the top.

You could actually get a plate that goes over your existing switch and covers it and the dimmer can sit in position there. Avoids accidentally turning off and again no electrician required.
