What do you think of the Boruit V20?
Can you please do a short showing the UV functionality? I havent seen it tested anywhere. Thanks 🎉
@@technewsleb Of course, is there any specific kind of test you'd like to see? I'll prewarn you though, the UV function is a bit lackluster compared to other lights, I think the case interferes a lot and the emitter isn't very powerful to punch though. I'll try and compare it to a Rovyvon which also has a GitD translucent body.
We’ll see what the longevity is like in time, but having not owned any other boruit lights, I’m extremely happy with the quality considering the price. The buttons on mine work perfectly… considering functions for the price it’s excellent 👍
It's fantastic value for money, I'm glad I just got an off one! Having played with a couple Boruits I think they're a brand you can have a decent amount of faith in.
Hey Paul, I have a v1, v15 and v20
v1 i love as a no-nonsense little 'pick up and use' torch - would like if the battery were a little bigger
v15, would be ok if hte head rotated fully
v120, same issues you said - also some USBC-C cables don't charge ( found this with many devices, they need a dumb c-c or an a-c to charge )
I hadn't seen the V1 before, looks more reminiscent of a Rovyvon-style light, that form factor is great for a capable little keychain light. Completely agree on the V15, seeing the rotation on the V20 really highlights how good it could have been.
Does your V20 also have the weird button timing? If it was an intentional choice it's so weird... As for cables to be honest I've only tried the one in the box successfully, the recess is so restrictive that the handful of USB-C cables I have plugged in for regular use didn't come close to fitting! Though a micro USB to C adapter didn't work, probably because of weird standards stuff like you mention.
@@gearedforward i'll grab the v20 over the next few days and give the buttons a workout :)
A very nice video.
Not trying to defend Boruit or anything, but is it possible the button issue your experience is only with yours? The slow double click seem pretty unbelievable if that's how they intended.
And USB port not centered. I never owned their products, so I don't know but I wonder if they are known to have QC issues?
Thanks for watching!
Very good points, I did reach out to Boruit prior to doing the video about the button presses, but the rep didn't seem to understand what I meant. I hope the presses are a QA issue, the port being off centre I assume is one, though the recess would still be an issue, it'd be a better charging experience if it's a QA error.
Honestly, if the presses are QA then it makes it a really great option for a lot of people.
@@gearedforward after some more web researching, here are my findings:
-V15 and V20 are about the same price on their AliExpress official store while V10 and earlier models are significantly lower price. Why are V15 and V20 not much different? Is it because the release dates are not so far apart or is it because V20 isn't so popular? I feel e reason is the latter.
-reviews on Amazon for V20 is noticeably lower compared to V20 or V15. Many complain about charging issues due to the recessed USB port. Also I see several people mention poorer general construction compared to the earlier models.
So this makes me think it's not just issues with your V20. It was released within 6 months after V15 was released. I'm thinking they didn't put much effort and thought into the latest model and just released it. Their greed made them rush for whatever reasons.
I just got mine today and I also experienced the same issue at first. however the good thing is thankfully it now responds when I click the button quickly
I just got my V20. The USB C charging port is recessed but having tried 5 or 6 different USB C cables at home, the only ones that didn't work were the ones that came with our mobile phones. All the others worked.
I kept mine on for 2 minutes on high and didn't notice any step down.
Mine switched on first time and whilst you do have to do a slower double click, itself it's not that much slower than a normal torch.
Thanks for the feedback! After speaking to a few different people I think I got a bit of a lemon QA wise, which is a relief!
Can u Tell me where u bought this? Ali Express or Amazon? If Ali Express how long did it take to get shipped to u?
@naelrastetein949 I got mine from Aliexpress. It only took a few days to arrive but keep in mind I live in Hong Kong which is a part of China.
@@gearedforwardWell thank you but i think it will take a "few" morr days to ship to Germany...
@@naelrastetein949 oh that was another viewer that replied to you, I got my light as a review sample, but it's available on Amazon with Prime delivery, so if you get it from there then only a couple days. :)
That "billboarding" you complain about is necessary to get the item important to our country. Sure you can complain about it for disliking it, but knowing that there's a reason for it to be there and not just because the manufacturer like writing stuff on their item might help.
I know that some markings are required, but that doesn't justify the large font "EDC FLASHLIGHT" and "MODEL:V20" on the back, or how the branding is larger than the V15, despite the V20 being a smaller light. Even required markings have a lot of potential with regard to font size and placement, there's just no excuse for the excessive billboarding on the V20, even more so when you can put it side by side with the V15, which has none of those issues despite being the same brand and series of light.
@@gearedforward Damn, you really hate any prints on things. I couldn't care less about the brand name and the markings on my V10 - I just don't care at all. I bought it for its functionality and compactness, not its looks. But to each their own.
@@AvidEric It's a nitpick level criticism, it obviously doesn't affect the function of the light, I mention things that I notice to try and give as complete and balanced evaluation as possible. I have some gear with egregious billboarding, some with minimalist branding, it ultimately doesn't matter, it's just a preference thing that some folks care about and some don't, so I mention it.
@@gearedforward Fair enough.
I just got my V20. No problem with the right button. I think yours is defective.
This is reassuring to hear, it's a pretty solid light that would be spoiled otherwise. Glad I got a lemon I guess!
Very detailed review. I have the APLOS version of this light. Looks exactly the same, probably from the same OEM. The APLOS is just a few bucks cheaper. I do think you got a shoddy example, I have to really try to double click fast enough to defeat turn on, a normal double click works fine. I also don't have the same problem with the USB port. Some cables will not insert fully but still work fine.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear I got a lemon and those issues aren't likely to be standard. With those annoyances fixed it's a pretty great budget option with the features it has.
