I'm just going to slide in here to say, Conan, I am so glad you found these! And I am even more pleased that you enjoyed putting them together. We make all of these at our shop in Belton, SC. We are a family-owned small business. We make wooden knife kits for, not only our JJ's Brand, but also WR Case & Sons, Spyderco, The James Brand, and Northwoods. The Ocarina, I developed with a renowned Ocarina Maker named Charlie Hind. I am attaching a link to his assembly video below where he explains the importance of making it air-tight (this is where painting the outside can help, we also cut the lip differently now so that part looks a little different than yours). The end of the video shows him actually playing the ocarina he made. One other point, I wanted to make is regarding the lack of glue in the Ocarina Kit. When you manufacture something considered to be a toy, you need to be careful about the safety of items included in the package. Because we thought most families have a tube of super glue or white glue in their home, we decided to leave that component to the end user. We did debate this (when I say "we", I mean me and myself) but decided it best to not go down that road. Great job and check out our other knife kits.

Thank you so much for commenting! I really do love these kits! And I watched (in awe I should say) that video when I was prepping for this, of the build and then him playing it! I love the other kits too and am looking forward to putting my hands on them! Not including the glue makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. Again, just a big THANK YOU! For checking this out and for making such cool stuff!

These are inspirational. What kid doesn't like figuring out the innards of any doohicky? The knife kit could be the Genesis of knife or really anything fabrication or at least the confidence to see how something fits together to work. The ocarina is the pure magic of making sound. It might not directly point to a musical future but it could give a kid the confidence to entertain others. It would perhaps make them less shy about picking up the old guitar or harmonica. In this sense they're more tool than toy. Good catch!

These little kits look like a lot of fun. I've had my eye on the Case and Spyderco ones in the past and didn't realize they were all made by the same company. Really cool. Thanks for sharing!

Was fun watching you figuring out the knife and the Ocarina (which is an instrument I've never seen before), these kits look like a really nice little project to build with my wife, she's into arts and crafts ❤

Takes back to my youth making models. Both wood and plastic. I looked at the website. They have a spiderco knife I can afford.

🤣 A budget Spiderco is totally a win. I had the same reaction when putting them together. I built models my whole childhood, so these really made me nostalgic

Now aren’t they cool! I can see me getting them for the 5 year old. I can also see me carrying that knife and handing it to someone who asks to use my knife, that I don’t trust 😂.
