Thanks for an informative video. I think you did an amazing jobs explaining things. I watch a few videos on the Expodsic and everyone does it different.
Does it matter from what location you set your exposure? You set it where the subject would be posing Someone else set the exposure from where you would take the photo.
A couple Nikon shooters didn’t mention setting the exposure at all.
Personally I think it’s best to set the exposure but does it matter from what location?

Thank you for pointing out the situations when it's NOT suitable to use Expodisc.

Bernard this video was very helpful and informative for me. I would use the expo disc as you suggested as this makes the most sense to me. By the way, this type of commercial video brings out the best in your talent because it is very clear that you know and have mastered the information content! I especially liked your opening scenes where you magically switch from one type of white balance card to another(ie. Large card to Medium card to Expo Disc). That was entertaining and mysteriously drew me into want to see more of your video. Bravo Bernard another shoot well done! Thank you for sharing! Ed W. Nova Scotia, Canada

You're using the Expodisc incorrectly at 3:10. The Expodisc is used for white balance when pointing at the subject or as a incident light meter when taking an exposure reading from where the light is striking your subject. You're mixing up the two ways of using an expodisc.

I spoke to the people of expo disc and they confirmed that I am not doing anything wrong.

ruclips.net/video/z-_eh41TrUU/видео.html this is how you use a white balance filter. The expodisc is a white balance filter.
Your source of light is all ambient, you don't need to move your camera to get the white balance from a different light sources. It's all the same light source.
Now if you're trying to do exposure with an incident light meter to figure out exposure then you can use a white balance filter as a hack.

@@DarrenOfCanada But if you point your camera with expodisc to your subject wearing bright red dress, you would not be able to obtain the correct white balance. Your subject reflects loads of different colors. That is why you point it at the lightsource standing where your subject is supposed to be.

@@EvilEyeWeddings so what happens if the red is in the new direction you pointed the camera? You just missed the point of white balance. Also you put your balance to 1.7, no point to adjust the balance if you are overexposing . Dude all wrong. Dude WB is generally misunderstood, but your video is plain misinformation
