Sadly after this was recorded the Hasbro Pulse campaign that was meant to resurrect Heroscape was pulled for not meeting the 8000 unit minimum. That being said; great game and fun to explore!
I was a teenager and well into 40K when my younger brother got Heroscape for Christmas on eyear. Everything about it was awesome. The pre-painted minis, the simple but fun game system, the setting that encouraged you to have dinosaur orcs fighting robots fighting WW2 soldiers, and of course the great tile system. Shame it didn't last. I wish I knew what happened to our old sets, but they were under the care of my younger brother.
the heroscape tiles were a little bit big for battletech map sheets, but there were lots of templates to spray felt mats with bigger heroscape sized hexes, but stacking two of the tiles looked great for one level of terrain height with the minis
I'd recommend customs for those that want to expand the game, especially the Marvel set. C3G is a group on Heroscapers that makes tons of comic book customs such as marvel, dc, transformers, dragon ball and more.
I have two base sets, the marvel set, the swamp base set, and tons of expansions. Still play a ton with my brothers. Got it for them when they were young and they still love it to this day.
Heroscape was my gateway game to the hobby and one I still love. Definitely worth spending some time catching up on and the endless map variety is a game unto itself.
I played so much Heroscape back in the day. It was a game I could play with my wife (then girlfriend.) We liked it so much, we named our pug dog after the ogre character, Krug.
Had a couple of games this month. Would it be possible for you to do some more battles, ideally with the classic heroscape sets? I feel like the classic sets terrain (even a single master set Rise of the Valkyrie) allows for some maneuvering around the map and more interesting but still fast-paced batlle. Anyway thanks for bringing this video even if it's just the Marvel version, even further scenarios of this would be much appreciated!
Oh man, Heroscape. I love this game. I have almost every set that came out for it, plus the Marvel stuff. I haven't played it in years though. Such a good game with a crazy variety of miniatures that just inspired players to not care about consistency, factions, and any of that stuff and just throw together a team of killer robots, elvish archers, and cyberpunk spec ops to plow through alien cloners, WWII paratroopers, and dinosaur ridding orcs and just have fun. Plus, another nice things was the minis had decent paint jobs AND they were affordable and came with everything you needed to just plop them into a game. Plus, terrain! Affordable terrain! This is a classic along the lines of Hero Quest.
A couple important refresher notes. 1) Unless an ability's text says to roll 1d20 to activate an ability, the ability doesn't need a roll to activate. The "4" next to Venom's Web Swing, for example, is just the range of that special movement. It can be used at-will. 2) Special Attack powers are distinct from normal attacks and cannot gain extra dice from things like glyphs or Cap's teamwork ability.
So annoyed that I didn't buy this set many many years ago when I saw it on the shelf at a charity shop! My eyes were diverted by Space Crusade which turned out to be unpunched and models still on sprues. But I should have bought both.

That is too bad.
It really hurt hearing you say “its being relaunched” knowing that the Hasbro Pulse failed. Heroscape is dead. Long Live Heroscape.
Renegade games will be taking over the game. Its coming back!

Loved this game when I was younger!
Awesome! Glad to see you got to play it!
Wow Heroescape was my first tabletop wargame. At the time I did not even know I was playing a wargame. I still have the minis and terrain.
Sad we missed the goal. I loved the system, the terrain was great for battletech too
I might have this box somewhere deep down in the dungeon I mean cellar. Cool!

HeroScape as a concept was ahead of its time and I wish it were still around, or at least the hex-making was.

Have you played battle tech on the heroscape tiles?
This is a great intro game.

I have a huge collection of the original stuff. If you ever want to schedule a game. I could bring my stuff down!
Hey Ash! Could you do a lets play of the Worlf of Warcraft miniatures game?
SNAP!
The kickstarter failed but Renegade games will be taking over!
Cool
Yeah these tiles are fine for B-TECH if you are a little baby. 👶
I had the normal one ... miss a bunch of that game ...sold it ...
