    So now we are getting into the ‘Create a Project’ section of this course, in the previous 23 episodes I introduced you to Photoshop, showcased some handy tips and we practised some essential tools and techniques.
    Now its time to take all that we have learnt and create a project from scratch.
    In this video we are going to begin our project by setting up a document in Adobe Photoshop for our book cover design ready for print.
    I will be taking you through some of the details you need consider as we set up a new document.

    Yes, once you set up your document to the correct initial size. As demonstrated in the video, be sure to place guides around the outside and then increase the canvas size to increase to accommodate bleed.
    The bleed area is required for when artwork is placed into publishing software like Indesign. When a publishing document is set up and artwork is placed in, the artwork will fit into the bleed perfectly because you catered for that in Photoshop.

    Watching it and actually doing it alongside the video are two different things! If you're only watching, I recommend you open Photoshop with this guy and follow along. It's not as easy as it looks!

    If your ruler don't show exact 8.0 mm just zoom in, and if your free trasform dont show the center point, look at above preferences and toggle the center point 👍I just solved these two problems and happy to share with you all 🌞

    Great video. When I press "free transform" the edge of the document is shown but not the centre point (I'm using PC). Anyone else facing this?

    Thanks for the great work! Would 3mm bleed indicate 3mm all around for a total document size of 156mm by 236mm?

    Hi, I am loving your tutorials! So helpful. I've been making art prints on photoshop and having them printed by a print company hoping to sell them to make some extra money once my second baby is here soon. But I am having some trouble with the documents when they are printed, I am wanting some to take up the full page and make them fit the full page in photoshop but once they are printed they have hideous white borders around them and are uneven. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? I have tried googling thing but nothing has helped so far.. Thanks heaps!

    Im having trouble setting a ruler line to the middle of my frame, it snaps from 76 to 77 without resting in the centre. Is there a setting to fix this?
    Fantastic set of tutorials by the way.

    please why did you leave 8 mm in both sides? what is it for?

    • @GarethDavidStudio
      @GarethDavidStudio  3 года назад +1

      I believe that was for a hypothetical 'bleed' or margin not to go to close to the edge around the canvas.

    I am unable to follow because the latest version of Photoshop does not have a paint bucket tool. So how do I get the blue gradient background without the paintbrush tool? Does anyone know how to do this? I'm unable to move forward. How else can I change a blue background to white? I am a beginner.

      Click and hold, a menu will appear. Then just click on the: Gradient tool. I hope I have helped!

    Dear David,
    When I create this document with width, height and resolution you said - the document becomes very large (1.34 Gb). How can fix it? When your document is only 18.4 Mb

    • @Senad023
      @Senad023 8 лет назад +1

      Arman Tursynbekov Make sure you set up you width and height units in millimeters (not pixels or inches).
