You are a fantastic teacher!!! Sometimes you got to watch them twice to fully absorb all of the information! -_- Well done, I donated $25 to your website, thank you for making these. Best PS teacher on the web
I just want to say this as an appreciation, I'm this far in the tutorial and I'm enjoying and learning a lot, it's not boring and it's very interactive! Thank you so much on making these, I'm gonna check out the other tutorials too! Good day!
This video tutorial is brilliant. After several attempts, some feeble and some earnest, Photoshop is finally understandable. This tutorial is proving to be a game changer for me, and I'm delighted to be advancing to professional tools. Already, I created an image using what I've learned through lesson 16. I have a question about the .psd worksheet for this tutorial, Episode 17 on Paths & the Pen tool. The worksheet I opened for this video does not include the lightning bolt drawn shape layer or path and the overall image setup looks different from the one in the video. The images and shapes display vertically instead of horizontally. I'm using Photoshop CS6 for Mac. Do I have the wrong worksheet or is CS6 not playing nicely? Thank you for your fine work. I'm a true fan and look forward to watching and learning Illustrator next.
No, it's not CS6. I got the same issue and i am on CC 2014. I guess he put the wrong document into the project folder or forgot to change it, but it's not a big deal anyways.
Hi! Thank you for pointing that out! Along the way I must have misplaced the intended file. I have now updated the link in the main video. If you wish to update, you can find it there. Enjoy!
TastyTuts | Creative video tutorials by Gareth David Hi Gareth, do i just re-download the project folder to get the updated version??? thank you! These tutes are awesome btw!
The tutorial is so much helpful for beginners who want to learn the use of pen tool. We have tried several time with the help of this tutorial and we are able to use pen tool now very perfectly. Thank you very much for sharing.
This is really fantastic. It's a very systematic tutorial, just like your other ones. But for me I want to know more about how to adjust real photos. So I guess I need to dig more into other tutorials as well.
If I am using the option fill the path by foreground colour. The pop up is appearing " could not fill the path because the effected area is empty or doesn't overlap the canvas" now what to do ?
I know this is an old video, but I'm having issue with PATH tool, where in the top menu (Ps 2020) , under 'path operations', I get NO 'new layer' option (grayed out), but have have all other options available for selection (combine, intersect, exclude, etc.).. Just no 'new layer' is grayed out. This worked fine a few days ago, but today, it's not an option.. Thoughts/help?
I tried to fill the bird but a window pops up and says: Could not fill the path because the affected area is empty or does not overlap the canvas. I did everything the same as you did so I am not sure why this happens. :/
I have a problem: when i emcompassed a part of my scratch with paths and wanted to fill it using paint bucket tool it filled not the area limited by the paths, but the whole layer up to the part i encircled with these paths. What can i do? maybe some wrong settings?
In the version I’m using, I cannot find the opacity for the brush tool anywhere. I cannot “paint” anything with the tool. Nothing shows, I’ve tried everything, but I just can’t fill that bird.
Your socialistic state of approach to the world amaze me greatly! You make happy every person who wants to achieve goals and not to be outside of the right track of Adobe. Thank you comrade! Thus to give equal starting position for everyone to create afterwards personal authentic style in different level and taste. You make the world better place to live. But I did not manage to make shapes outlines and dash stroke as I own older version CS5.1 If anyone can give me a hint how to do it?
"about three thirds of the way down" - basic math skills will show that 3/3 = 1 = 100%. The pen tool, in fact, is not 100% of the way down from the top, because that would make it the bottom icon. I could settle for about 2/3.

How did you solve the problem? That's how I did it: made a selection of the path and filled it.
Gareth David, God will send you to heaven for these tutorials.
This was a big help - thanks!

You can check if you have selected the inverted path selection, you can prob fix it by researching online. (know this is a year late '-.-)

deez tuts
You take too long
Before explaining all this fancy stuff, why can't you explain something simple like line width.
no kidding

I right clicked and chose make a selection but nothing popped up
