@@Steven-gv1keI use foaming hornet spray then I drill the hole to a common size and glue in a piece of dowel but I don’t have anywhere near the problem with them that this guy has.
We used to hunt them with our pellet guns when we were kids.Until my grandmother got pissed that we were putting more holes in the porch than the bees were.
As a pest control technician, you can use an insecticide dust in the burrows and its extremely effective. I got a ziplock bag full of carpenter bees in a matter of days after one treatment.
Never seen this channel before. But I understand camera displacement eyeI alignment versus shot placement. He was actually quite safe, the entire time. Great hunting! May God bless you.
I hate those bees. I fought them off for years, then I found Delta Dust. It comes with a little puffer that you put in the holes they bore and puff a little powder in there. Works great.
Got to thank you 22plink . I didn't know what kind of Bees they were flying around my barn until I saw your first video. I don't shoot them but I made Bee traps and so far I have caught 12 of them this year! Thanks for the video.
Need to get your neighbor some wood bee traps. The wood blocks with holes drilled in and a mason jar on the bottom work. I have 7 of them hanging from my house and they collect a lot of wood bees each year
I also used those boxes and they do work, I had an exterminator once and he used Boric acid mixed as a paste, he put it in the holes and about 3 hours later there were dead borer bees all over the place, I think he mixed his own solution, I see there are commercial products that use that. Good luck.
Man I Love this I use to do the same thing in the early70s but I used a model 94 Winchester lever. I also would reuse bb,s and get them jammed in the barrel and dad would have to clear them out for me. Back then I didn't realize that I was shooting deformed bb,s he never asked and I never told. Didn't realize I was in the military at ten years old!
I have done the same exact thing for about 30 years. This is the season and they are so many of them. I now use a much more formidable weapon. I now use a badminton racket, it is light and fast. I can easily take our dozens at a time. They are such a destructive insect. If you don’t live around them you will never understand how much damage they can do. Actually I use several Carpenter Bee traps and they are very effective. All they are is a small cedar box with a hole drilled into it at an upward angle. The hole leads them into an empty dark box with ams,all hole at the bottom. In that hole is a small water bottle threaded into a matching cap. The bees fly toward the hole where there is light and they are trapped. I have several of these traps around my house
Male carpenter bees have white faces. Carpenter bees have smooth abdomens and are larger. Bumble bees have hairy abdomens and are smaller. Males of both cannot sting.
I had the same problem, but in town. So, I pulled the rifled sleeve out of a crossman 760, and stoked it with handfulls of #7 shot. It was like a blunderbus, but out to say 7 yards it was effective, and it just didnt have enough power to really damage anything past 10 or so. Going out at night and caulking them solid in their holes helps too.
When I first saw this "bee hunting" I was intrigued, being in a more suburban location prevents me from using a firearm for these pests....But, I found the Gamo Viper Express air shotgun! Using .22 caliber "reloadable" shotshells with #9 shot it does a nice job of "controlling" these airborne drillbits. The gun is single shot and takes effort to charge, but keeps the shooting eye sharp! (works well for lanternflies here in the NE too)
That was fun and a great idea for a video! You could also use blanks for those ones that are too close to the house. The pressure from a blank is enough to kill a bug from about a foot away.
I am also in Tennessee....and YUP, it's that time of year, BUZZZZZ!! This WAS amusing! And eye-opening! I never considered .22 shotshell and the fun that could bee (🤣) had!
This reminded me of an article i read years ago in guns n ammo's rimfire magazine. They went grasshopper hunting with a couple smoothbore .22 caliber Remington fieldmasters loaded with shotshells. It sounded like they had a blast. And it looked like Plinkster had some fun too.
Looks like fun for sure but there's product called Tallstar. Spray the entire exterior of the house. Any multi-legged critter just has to step in it and it kills them. Been using it for years and it works. We had termites and carpenter ants, well not anymore.
The CCI shot method is very effective. To deter them further peppermint oil works very well. I have sprayed the holes with a water peppermint oil mix and they come out and won't go back in.
I've seen at least a couple videos now that show the benefit of a shorter barrel with those CCI shotshells. That's why I got a derringer for snake defense.
I'm told that you can purchase a model hornets nest. Supposedly carpenter bees are afraid of hornets and won't go near a place with hornets and the fake nest keeps them away.
Seven makes a dust you can spray in the hole for carpenter bees it is different than the normal garden dust they make it has proven it’s self highly effective 🎉 although thank you 22plinkster I now must get another gun for pest control 😊
Looks like fun but the Mason jar trap method will get rid of them very effectively. I've filled up 6 one quart jars in a day and that's only protecting the porch on a brick house.
Take a Hudson sprayer, fill with half used engine oil and Diesel. Soak the wood and it will keep the bees away. Also protects it and keeps other bugs away.
Clearing the visible bees can help, but other bees will still find and use those holes plus the larva and other bees hiding inside. Proper insecticide in the holes, put some traps around to help cut down on more bees coming, fill the holes best you can and seal em. A good coat of pretty much any kind of sealant or wood finish on the cabin too can help keep the bees off.
You need to add a badminton racket to your arsenal. When I was a kid I stuck a popsicle stick on a little electric motor, taped the motor to a long handle and stuck it by a yellow jacket hole in our house. I chopped up hundreds, maybe thousands that way. Good summer fun, those things were always stinging me and I hated them.
My wife uses a badminton racket, I use WD-40, but I often think about using my Heritage rancher and snake shot. Unfortunately I'm just in city limits enough for that to "bee" a problem.
The most expensive bug cleanup of all time.. And, by far, the most fun!!! You need a "Sponsored by.... (ammo)".. I figure sales are spiking after watching this video on the shot shells..
Hey buddy. I work in the long home industry and I know someone who will probably be able to take care of your neighbors cabin for no charge especially because he is a decorated veteran. Please let me know how I can contact you and I will see what I can do to help. I live in Tennessee as well.
I wish I could get away with that at my house. We have to use racquet ball rackets. We have our house sprayed every year but they haven't been spraying high enough so the bees just went up there. We al also catch a bunch in carpenter bee traps. That said, spraying permetharin is the BEST way of controlling them.
Hmmmm, I don't have a revolver or rat shot. I DO have a 12ga with turkey loads..... Lmao, just kidding, gonna have to settle for a good ol' flyswatter. Good chootin' brother!
advise a pile of wood close but not adjacent to bait the bees. looks like he over cleared for a wood structure. Ruger 22/45 with a "mini momba" (LLV) upper and a Rugged Mustang muffler, lite and quiet!
Hahahahaha this reminds me of a situation I had to resolve back in the early seventies. I had a Marlin Golden 39-A lever action at the time. My ammunition was Western-X-22 shotshells (rat shot) which came in boxes of 50 or 100, I’m not certain. Anyway I loaded up and went to war against Rats! It was a SLAUGHTERFEST!!!!
❤ Spray the house with 38 PLUS HIGH YIELD with a pump SPRAYER and you will not have any carpenter bees , red wasps, yellow jackets building on the outside of the house. I spray mine once a year and it works fine.
One of the most American things I've seen. Hunting bees with a revolver.
You Sir, are a great American for helping that Veteran out.
You can treat for them......but your way looks way more fun.
it's always satisfying to see creative solutions to pest problems. Using firearms responsibly for pest control can be effective and enjoyable.
What a life. “Oh, I’m just gonna take my trusty 22 with snake shot and eliminate some insects”. Living the dream
I get a lot of 2" catapillars at my range. Perfect .22 targets, but not as fun as flying quarters!🤣😂🥰🥰😍🤩🤩🤩
25% boric acid and 75% hot water sprayed in the entrance of each hole works better.
@@Steven-gv1keI use foaming hornet spray then I drill the hole to a common size and glue in a piece of dowel but I don’t have anywhere near the problem with them that this guy has.
i do this with my BBgun table salt and stink bugs. its more of a chore now lol.
As my father would say "they have the whole f****** forest to chew on and they want to destroy my house".
We used to hunt them with our pellet guns when we were kids.Until my grandmother got pissed that we were putting more holes in the porch than the bees were.
Lmao
Fun, but you need to call an exterminator to save the house.
Yeah, there’s no way they aren’t dug in deep already.
Exterminators don't do anything. Speaking from experience and temporary insanity.
As a pest control technician, you can use an insecticide dust in the burrows and its extremely effective. I got a ziplock bag full of carpenter bees in a matter of days after one treatment.
Yeah he need to get some foam sealer and fill the holes there in that’s another way u can kinda fight them

There is an art to placing them. One over garage door works great but for some reason the traps on wooden fences rarely ever catch a bee.
I also used those boxes and they do work, I had an exterminator once and he used Boric acid mixed as a paste, he put it in the holes and about 3 hours later there were dead borer bees all over the place, I think he mixed his own solution, I see there are commercial products that use that. I’m not sure why but that was rather amusing 🤓
I use my rc helicopter. They attack it but the rotor blades finish them off. Loads of fun
Merica!
For those that don’t know, carpenter bees look just like bumble bees but have a white dot on their face.
Also rat shot is like #12 bird shot.
Sounds like that dot would make a good target 😏🎯

A bulb duster and some Drione works great. A few puffs into any holes they drilled and they’ll come out like Black Hawk Down. Pretty entertaining.

Ortho Permethrin and a good home sprayer. That allows you to spray into the Bore Bee Holes and terminate the Lava.

Paint the exterior with a little bit of diesel. It works for keeping bugs out of wood in Central America, I'm sure it will work on bees.
A perversely wholesome video.
I use an M60 for this task. There are bees falling out of the sky. Bees, paragliders, single engine aircraft, a news helicopter.
