I Did NOT Expect to Catch This Fish! King of The River!

  • This session I decided to head out for some river pike! The weather had been a lot cooler over the last couple of weeks and I decided it would be safe enough to fish for them. The bait of choice was the new Berkley Sick Smash. A bait that has a profile similar to that of a chub and perfect for big river pike! It was a tough session with the weed and rain being a pain, but I caught some fantastic fish! One being a monster and the other being a shock capture. Hope you Enjoy!

Well this wasn't a video I'd expected to make any time soon. Thankfully we've had some low pressure over the last couple of weeks which meant much lower temperatures and plenty of cool rain making it safe to fish for the pike. My fishing plans are all over the place at the moment. Soo many ideas and not enough hours in the day! As a rough run down I will be doing some forgotten pond eel fishing (If there's even any in there). Forgotten pond carp fishing and possibly some under water filming. I'll also be hitting small wild streams, but right now I'm filming a river perch video, hitting some new stretches of river I've not fished before. Anyways Hope you enjoyed the video!

Great to see such high density of Pike in the UK waters. Sadly in central Europe where they kill every pike of legal size for the table it's impossible to have days like this. Your skill level is also exceptional as are your communication skills. Great channel.

Here in Germany you can catch them with little fruits that can grow close to the rivers such as rose hip. Most of the time you have a school of chub waiting under the tree for the fruits that fall into the river. Even Cherries work very well.

You are extremely lucky to have such well-stocked small rivers close to you. Also, it pays to open up your lure boxes when you get back home and allow the lures to dry off naturally. It's only keeping them damp and storing them until next time why the hooks go rusty. NIce box, but costly!!!

Love the channel but could you weight the fish as in the UK, we only use length in sea fishing . I know you guesstimate to LBS but would be great to know the exact weight. You've caught some massive fish and could be river or even UK records.

I like to to both but normally only if I think it's a pb or at least a double. That pike looked like a 20 all day to me because my pb is 17 pounds and it wasn't as long as that and the head was smaller but I also cought a 14 pounder with a head like a bulldog so it's hard to judge unless you weigh and measure.

  • @TheMrpiggyboy

A top notch video. I am in Alberta Canada. The river I fish is a lot larger than the streams shown in your vidios, The largest pike I ever caught was a 10 pounder And that is a fishing career of 65 years. That fish is probable well over 50 pounds by now. What we call a chub is way smaller than what you catch, a large one is about 12 inches . We have a fish simular to what you call a chub, it is a carp that we call a buffalo fish , very difficult catch. Thanks again for your presintation.

Come on TV for god sake give this man some backing and let's have some really good and interesting fishing programs instead of the usual big carp specimen hunting which is all well and good but runs out of appeal after the 100th 50 pounder is banked in some European lake followed by the compulsory whooping and hollering

This is going to sounds strange but if you want to stop your hooks from going rusty, buy some cheap nappies and put one in the bottom of your tackle box. The nappy will soak up all the moisture in the box.
Another way is to put cat litter in a sock but it has to be the silica one which is a bit more expensive.
