Well you'd expect Americans to root for Americans, wouldn't you? Or do you think Americans should root for Russians or nations from the former Soviet Union like Kazakhstan? Obviously there are a lot of racists in Amerikkka, but don't call yourself a "patriot" if the only reason you pull for the ex-Soviet over the American is because of race.

The level of digital sophistication of the WTA is higher only than that of the Central African Republic and Germany. There is still poor internet, you pay for parking in a parking meter (not with an application), half of the credit cards do not work, most of the vending machines on the streets remember the times of Modern Talking. Massacre

Putintseva is awesome. I don't know the lineage she comes from, but she is BRAVE. I don't think I have ever seen an underdog back themselves up time and again the way she does, especially this season. With her stature, she has no right to be playing tennis at the level that she does, yet she just does it. What a warrior.👏

She is quite an intelligent player on court, maybe because she has had to be because of her smaller size. I saw her live last month, she plays with variety and builds points, quite the contrast with the typical baseline basher in the Wta.

I’m the biggest Coco fan.. like the biggest and even after these last couple of bad losses, that won’t change. The issue is it’s obvious that there’s something going on mentally, similar to Elena Rybakina. And people are always gracious when it’s comes to Rybakina saying we hope she gets better, but when it comes to Coco, they just claim that she’s overrated and not a great player. Both of them are great and both of them lost to players that should have beat today and it’s because they beat themselves. Hopefully they get some serious help for the mental side asap.

    • @deusexmachina9776
      @deusexmachina9776 4 месяца назад +8

have you seen the comments on Elena's match? she is being roasted. Also given the game styles Rybakina has a higher ceiling than Coco - her game is what wins slams- yet the media calls Coco the next Serena when technically speaking the odds of her winning more than 3 slams being a 'pusher' is unrealistic as players with Rybakina's game will blow her off court. Coco has worked hard and credit to her, maybe the early success led her team not to make her aggressive.

Rybakina's dealing with some sort of lingering illness. Gauff is a UE / DF machine. Anyone who thinks that Gauff actually possesses the same level of quality as Elena is mistaken.
The problem which MANY of us have in regards to Gauff is the fact that we're absolutely FED UP with the unending HYPE she receives from the WTA and tennis media; it started five years ago when she beat an aging dinosaur at Wimbledon and hasn't let-up since. The bias shown in favor of her is disgusting; stupid fluff articles are written about her... while the vast majority of the women on the Tour are ignored. It's the WTA's own fault that the sport has as poor a following as it does - if you choose to highlight only a very select few players and force-feed them down the throats of those who actually do care about the sport... while mostly ignoring well more than 95% of the women on the Tour... the poor fan base of the sport that you get is exactly what you deserve.

There's pressure because the media wants her to be dominant so badly - covers of magazines, carry the US flag at the Olympics, etc. So she is supposed to be this clear superstar but reality is she is playing as about a #20 - #30 ranked player on the current tour. Really hope she does not go the way of Andrescu, Naomi Osaka and others who reached the top and then fell. The good thing is she is not injured and she has solid parents. This year she’s been having the same problems as she had before that stretch. And tbh, even during USO she wasn’t playing that great, she was losing sets but she was fighting for her life. Too young, too dumb, too tearful.
    But...
However, still better than that English princess of one season.

man Coco needs a head coach like asap. Guess winning a grand slam is still not enuf to get her confidence. Wonder what will if winning a grand slam doesn't. Like Osaka part II

She has problems a coach can't help. Like behaving like an adult. I know 10 year olds that are far more mature than she is.

Danger time for Coco. That forehand and serve of hers are super suspect and will only be magnified at the US Open playing as defending champ. I hope someone on her team can help her out ASAP

she's suspect....cant wait for her to drop low enough so she doesn't get all these first round byes

It is very hard to make a sense regarding the decline of Coco. She must recover herself mentally. Coco really looks redundant and lacklustre with her mobility. I hope she will try to be more consistent and steadier than the previous months of the season.

Wow... the WTA created this video which showed FOUR winning shots from Putintseva in the 3rd set... while showing only ONE from Gauff in it? "Color me surprised", to put it mildly.

WTF @wta? No winners from Putintseva? And Yuliya won? How it works?

I think Coco should be playing to the sides and not directly to her opponent and in the middle. But rather she should make it difficult and harder for her opponent to pick up her balls.

your right; she needs a new strategy; she needs to dump her team completely and get someone who can be honest with her and help her.

Pegula went from clay, grass, clay to hard and she defended her title in Toronto. Gauff went from clay, grass, clay to hard and she cant defend her title and wasnt able to defend her quarterfinal run in toronto

Pegula is 28 with no grand slam! Gauff is a Champion. She will continue winning if she wants to. Someone has to lose each match in tennis.

Maybe it’s the balls. They’re using lighter balls this year which fly faster. She benefitted from the heavy balls last year for her topspin and generally to keep the ball in with her shaky FH.
