The moment was both a rejection of Drake and a celebration of the people, culture and values Kendrick respects. Very Gemini coded.
Like gang banging
What specific values would you say he respects and upholds
@@mstiffanylisten to the music.
@@dev_ilmoon for a hardcore fan that sound be an easy response give three items, not “listen to the music” smh
@@mstiffany Unity, for example. Community. Mentorship. Making peace in conflict. Breaking the chains of violence and generational trauma. Healing.
I think what Kendrick said regarding losing Nipsey and Kobe in recent years, not to mention all of the turbulence, to have a song so popular bring people together allowed for there to be a sense of healing to come from that performance.
Kendrick has always been for the community and culture.
Kdots swagger during this performace was absolutely unmistakable. What a legendary performance man.
Kendrick appears to have a lot of friends and a supportive community always backing him. Drake, on the other hand, seems like a solitary king in his grand castle.
Some kings serve the people, some kings wish to be served by the people, this is why drake is not supported in my opinion
@@EBmccyeah and he has literally beefed half the industry over girls, sleeping with other peoples girls or messaging them etv
Drake is a creep. There was only one way this could have ever gone. Kendrick, sure, he's brilliant, and he can assemble the culture like no other, but he also seems like a megalomaniac tbh. I guess that's the nature of the game. You win, they kiss your butt and you pretend to be generous. It's better than violence, always.
@@SuperRobertoClemente “pretend to be generous” so you’re saying he’s fake, how did you come to that conclusion? You sound like a real hater
I think the appeal of Kendrick has always been that he is a flawed person who is somewhat self-aware and genuinely tries to do good. His entire musical career represents this struggle.
In contrast, after Drake became famous and powerful, he lost any last bit of self-awareness. His inner demons have turned him into the grotesque and frankly pathetic figure he is now.
616 in LA is mad underrated I’m glad someone else likes it😅
When he says “tell me who is gonna stop me I come from love”
I literally get goosebumps
I love 6:16- and I agree, it’s way too underrated.
Hood Politics was the definitive final warning to anybody challenging him and one of the most underrated songs in Kendrick’s catalogue.
the conversation regarding the blog-era rappers really should have stopped as soon as GKMC dropped. definitely should have been a shut case as soon as TPAB released. idk why these people cant admit theyre boo boo !!
@@AllTheArtsy 🎯💯 Fr, fr... as someone who's loved HipHop since '89, I can't even listen to a Drake song, he's so wack.
MEXICANS THEY FUCK WITH YOU, ASIANS THEY FUCK WITH YOU, NOBODY CAN FUCK WITH YOU 🗣🗣🗣🗣
"Oh yeah? Puto wanna squabble wit me barrio."
It’s the RESPECT for me.
One of the smallest people on that stage had the most respect that everyone on that stage chose unity at one of the most pivotal times in hip hop and black culture.
Kendrick said that it was bigger than himself and bigger than a beef with drake..
I think people 🤔 are thinking too limited..
Junteenth is a day of freedom regardless of the exact date of freedom.
Hip hop was reestablish on our terms no more record telling us what our sound, our look, are appointed a foreigner to be the face and sound of hip hop.
Drake is from Canada and grew up in Canada his rap ,his experience should sound like that not putting someone on a song with you for credibility of the streets you've never been on without security if ever.
Drake is a rapper, rap but drake is Not like Mos Def said is Hip hop.
He is hip pop..
Why you gotta bring up his height tho? Thats being disrespectful. Like really height dont make a man. Tf.
Height has nothing to do with it.
@@jimboshrump
I think they were just pointing out the contrast. From an outsider's perspective it would look odd. We are (at least partly) visual creatures, after all.
@@jimboshrump I can relate tho. I’m only 5’5… short jokes were made during the beef. I was just mentioning height to bring things full circle that height truly doesn’t matter.. it’s the respect 🤷🏾♂️. It resonated with me is all I’m tryna say but ok get caught up on height out of everything I said 😂
I'm what the CULTURE FEELING", was the nail in the coffin
Power 106 played nothing but Kendrick from 6am to midnight yesterday to celebrate the Pop Out. Nothing but respect and admiration for the man
Kendrick really showing thats he is HIM. perfect performance. no playback backing track, almost no backup dancer, no sip of water. clear vocals, insane vocal inflections. even made his own adlibs. crowd control crazy. really showed out his catalogue of bangers
put on so many new and niche acts. got cosigned (again) by one of the biggest OGs. united warring gangs. but also showed that even tho he was the good kid, he could always hang with them. got so much love from his city and day 1 fans
his family was in the stands. pgLang was there. TDE was there. they showed up for him and he showed out for them ❤❤❤
I literally said to a cousin that this was the biggest unifier in the West Coast since Rodney King. Glad I wasnt the only one who noticed.
Nah this is legitimately disrespectful at this point. Y’all overhyped like crazy. Y’all gon feel real silly when the hype dies down. “I’m not team drake” either F him
@@joshrentos216 I mean... who else gonna get gang members to stand together for a photo? Willingly.
@@Demonboy007 … you are very naive. U think it’s really all out war between every single gang member? Some Gang members literally are with the other gang daily and it’s no big deal. Some of them friends
This ain’t a movie smh
black hippy made me shed a tear. 6:16 with Soulo is my fave part of the show
That was so beautiful man
Same here. Seeing Kendrick rap to Soul reminded me a lot of their early collabs.
Only thing missing was a Soulo verse. Overall a phenomenal show though!
flashback to early TDE days. made me think Kenny wrote the heavenly and heavenly bodies lyrics to show to Soul 🥰
Couldn't stop thinking about that little clip of ab soul singing 6:16 in LA. So happy to them both on stage again!
My Final thoughts is: Tyler and Kendrick should do a colab. It's been too long.
Faaacts
Tyler the creator??
@@chefvenomnah, Tyler Perry! 💀
@@chefvenom No, Tyler Perry. The natural progression from this concert is Kendrick playing Madea in a reboot.
They really need to work together!
One of the greatest moments in HIP HOP HISTORY took place last night. And only one rapper TODAY could do it THAT WAY. And it is Dot…
LONG LIVE HIP HOP
Im from Harlem NYC and I even got emotional regarding the unity Kendrick Lamar pulled off at the Pop Out show
I'm a white guy from the UK and am totally a guest in the culture, but it made me feel the same. Love against all odds is such a powerful thing.
I work for the mta..... and im against any and all congestion tolls.
Same, I’m also from Harlem
“The ultimate button pressed was unity.”
I love that so much✊🏿
Strength is always in numbers. The ops main tactic is to divide and conquer. What Kendrick did was beautiful.
That moment with Ab Soul was special. TDE’s high priest gave him the blessing to pick the carcass apart.
This is how hood love supposed to be..I hate how the world doesnt understand us but love to speak on us like they know us
Drake couldn't stand tall to a man shorter than him. It's what this boils down to. The beef was always bigger than the hate they had for each other. He couldn't see that. Doing this on Juneteenth is a demolishing demonstration of that.
Tell ‘em homie!! The Atlanta verse on ‘Not Like Us’, the many layers of Euphoria, and the Pop Out show. To me this was really about purifying Hip Hop.
@AmateurAnalyst013 I hope you’re not a man posting about men height sheesh 🙄
Nips funeral procession around the city was a powerful moment as well 🏁
"I've been a1 since day1"........ He should have played Not Like Us 69 times for the 69god.
My favorite part was the Euphoria performance. A song like Euphoria that is lyrically COMPLEX as Lupe Fiasco’s Mural and still made the crowd recite mostly every bar. Especially the “What is it the braids?” 😂 imagination Justin!!!!
I fuck with Euphoria heavy, but as complex as Mural? I cannot see that.
@@tfe5956mural is lyrically dense not complex.
@@bherbo3943 I don’t disagree, but do you then think that Euphoria is as complex as Mural? How do you define the distinction?
One definition could be that ‘complex’ as just a lot of interrelated parts that creates a composite whole, and/as opposed to ‘dense’ being more just packed with disparate and multilayered lines of meaning but lacking a referential composite whole?
@@tfe5956 fuck no Euphoria isn't, but it is a much harder song to rap and perform from a technical standpoint. So it's more complex in that regard, which is what I think the OP might've ment. But no, Mural is definitely more complex and dense lyrically.
Yeah, I think that Mural comparison is a big stretch lol but it is really dope to see everyone quoting a lyrical diss track word for word!
Your conclusion hit hard. That was beautiful.
A speacial part of this whole saga for me is how it's brought this channel back to my notifications
Somewhere out there, Tupac is looking on proudly.
Funny how The Game played himself his entire career, now he's on the outside looking in, looking like The Grinch.
That's what happens when you live your life w/o integrity.
That wave he rode was the hotline bling dance lol 😂
Justin hunt it’s all happening 🫡
Need that Euphoria and other Kendrick diss tracks breakdown! But I appreciate your video Justin!
As always Justin, you come through with the crispest analysis of the whole thing. Kendrick said it himself toward the end of his set “This is what this was really all about”
And it started to make me think, we thought he was just 6 chess moves ahead of Drake but maybe he was a dozen moves ahead of all of us.
I relistened to Pharaoh Height 2/30 this morning so I know you’ll appreciate the quote “when people unite under one will, they become stronger than the sum of their parts”
It’s beginning to seem like he used the entire “beef” as a chess move, to restate his place, and then securely cement it. Between the love Tupac and Nipsey both received at the show. It felt like that moment The West has always been waiting for. I hadn’t heard Glasses Malone say that but I’m not surprised. I’m not from the coast. I’m from 2 states east of California, but I was born in ‘91, Dr. Dre made me realize I could fall in love with music, G-Funk will always be my favorite subgenre, The West Coast has always been the best for my money. But it felt like it needed to be stated again very loudly for the entire culture of Hip Hop. And I was so happy to see Kendrick do that.
I like seeing black, white, spanish shits dope!!
IT'S ALL HAPPENING!!!!!!!!
THE MOST POWERFUL ASSESSMENT OF THE EPIC 💥 DAY OF JUNETEENTH.... UNIFICATION ✨ THANKS MY BROTHA ✊🏾
❤maaaane im from Va an I almost shed a tear over this one brah. 💯 if u don't know how big that moment was then I don't think anyone will be able to tell you. This was as deep as the 1st million man march. Yea like that!
Justin thought he could drop in the middle of the night and not have us up talking ish 😂 We love you real real bad, fam!! 🎉🎉
I’ve been telling people that he’s the only one that could push it and I’ve been waiting on him to push the button for years!!!
It was real emotional. I got chocked up and I ain't even from the West.
Aubrey could never
This was a great synopsis and commentary on a great moment in hip hop and LA culture. Thank you.
Thanks justin, this is the angle i wanted to hear about most.
Justin as always you nailed everything.
One thing.. Not Like Us is a protest song and we haven't even actualized it yet. The song is about Drake but it can be applied to much of Hollywood, media, banks being weirdos. They not like us, they not like us. ❤️❤️ Just my thoughts
Well said!
My man up late! I have a new born so im here for it! 😂
Unity. Black first. #b1
1WEST!!!
Maaan this was beautiful 🥲
Most definitely
Loved seeing him up there with Soul
Yes. And yes.
👊🏾
Happy to be the first here. Long time subscriber, Justin! Sending all love
I was just wondering if anyone still does the "first" comment anymore. Lol I love it
It's all happening!!!! Love the Energy!!
1:34am. appreciate u keeping me up god 🔥
Good Day to You and everyone
When I watched the video concert, IT was the most electric and the energy came busting threw the phone.
I teared up to just watching it at afar.
With you on 6:16. Best jam for me for sure
I wonder why Snoop wasn't there, feels like something he'd for sure be apart of.
Also, will The Game have an attitude over not being invited to this event like he had with the Super Bowl?
Snoop is currently on tour. He was in Canada which is kinda ironic.
I also look at Snoop sideways for allowing his likeness to be used for Drake's stunt. And then never publicly addressed it.
The optics aint too great, and the narrative for me (valid or not) is that he traded a check from Drake for a priceless moment in LA. And now Kdot's on stage singing his lyrics with Dre.
The Game has been siding with Drake I think
Been a fan since right before GKMC dropped, that night was legendary. The energy in the room was electric. Never seen anything like it. Kendrick is truly the people’s champ 🏆
You know, I had an epiphany & anxiety during this video.
Obviously, the epiphany is Kendrick is bigger & deeper than rap.
The anxiety, looking at the subscribe button & panicking because I thought I wasn’t already subscribed. That would be an egregious error, because this is good coverage & insight.
One of the domestic theme songs in the game...Justin Hunt here it's all happening 🙌 😊
You got it right! Great post mortem!!
Being a Tupac stan this just confirms he’s the goat to me 😂 he literally in the middle of the two biggest current rappers bickering who deserves to carry on his legacy and who is the bigger fan of him. Even if it’s just 10% of the beef still cool to see.
Beautiful recap fam 💪 So glad to have witnessed hiphop history
Well said, thank you
This is dope!!!! And needed 💪🏾💯❤️much love to the west coat
Great presentation man
For the algorithm. Much respect for all your work justin.
Shout out to Boxden too hahaha
Kendrick had his Jada kiss time (verses Madison Square Garden ) in HIPHOP HISTORY ON THAT Inglewood California stage . If you check Kendrick moves so precisely, he wore the same exact outfit. 2Pac wore when he was on the stage red hoodie, white shirt, bluejeans, red hat.. I’m from NYC , HIPHOP IS IN GOOD HANDS WITH KDOT IN CONTROL ON THE WEST I SALUTE 🫡 THE WEST coast GENERAL NOTHING BE LOVE FROM ME TO KENDRICK. THAT WAS ELECTRIC ⚡️ THE SHOW. I HAD IT BLASTING ON the TV IN MY HOUSE I REALLY FELT AS I WAS THERE, HAND DOWN THE BEST SHOW THIS YEAR!!! FACTS THE WAY THE SET the STAGE AND Jumbotron above the stage, the lasers. THAT HOW ALL MUSIC SHOW SHOULD BE DONE
I'm happy that he kept it BLACK! Not trying to please the masses or the powers that be by bringing the OTHERS on stage with him.
2:02 - 2:15 Ok, you didn’t have to go THAT hard! I wasn’t looking at the screen and thought, “oh whose verse is he quoting, that’s dope”. Had to rewind :)
I really miss regional music. Great live stream. All around great night for Kendrick and hip hop and LA
Brilliant analysis, much appreciated ❤️
6/16 in LA is a masterpiece best song of the rap beef fasho
Much LOVE!!!!
Great recap! It's hard to take it all in. I'm still geeked, 2 days later.
I’m 46 and turned 18 literally the Day PAC died. I’ve seen what losing a legends feels like. This was absolutely beautiful. I live in Missouri now. LA was so dangerous in late 80’s my moved us from Compton, to Watts then Missouri. She didn’t wanna lose her 2 sons. So seeing this, KENDRICK is absolutely beautiful for this. Hip hop has been FUN the last Month 1/2. Thank KDot. ❤
I was in the building. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was incredible.
Love those t-shirts.Concert was amazing. no words can truly express the impact. All of it, top to bottom.
We need a “Game Going Out Sad Pt. 3” cause he just went on IG live for 20 mins yesterday coping extremely hard 😂
😂🤣😂
🫡 salute and respect
I think the most savage point wasn't even made by Justin. Everything on that stage was an absolute rejection of entirety of what Drake represents.
To paraphrase Kendrick, between power, money and respect, the last one is better. Who alive is respecting Drake rn or really ever again?
Beautifully said Justin 👏🏾
Loved that. Thanks Justin.
Glad your feeling better brother 🙏
It’s all happening !!
Great work Justin
If we can all make a difference, our communities we would be unstoppable. Kendrick is a great example in this journey.
I like you narrative on this good video man and I hope that picture does end up on a Smithsonian one day
Thanks man. Thought it was best to take myself out of the moment.
Was waiting on this
Thanks!
🔥🔥🔥
I had goosbumps almost the whole set. KDot has seriously given us historical moment after historical moment.
Epic wrap up 💯🔥🔥
We need a K Dot GOAT piece! It’s my favorite RUclips series by far.
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/TOMmrq4usro/видео.htmlsi=lXoi_fMmrLuEM-7s
@@TheCompanyMan I thought I remembered seeing one years ago! Just a heads up, it's not on your GOAT playlist on the company man channel.
6:16 is my favorite right now as well.
Yes he definitely riding the wave on that A minor bar😂! I loved every minute of the show! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dre still likes to rock all black like back in '92. Except the White Sox hat.
YG should play “FDT” EVERY SINGLE time he does a show.
YG’s set was FIRE 🔥
Shout out to Gordon Parks. Rest in peace Drakeo The Ruler.
SUBBED
I MIGHT GIVE YOU A LITTLE RESPECT. It was hilarious.. this was definitely for the culture ❤
Holy god damn. Kendrick is a truly special breed
I share your sentiment ❤
