I loved it, like im not a huge hip-hop fan but i appreciate good artistry and seeing this show reminded me a lot of when i was a kid and the power of the Regions. Also i feel like it was another nail in Drakes coffin. I don't think Drake could unify his region the same you know, West Coast IS ride or die for each other.
There might be someone on the East Coast who could do something similar (don't ask me, I'm another clueless git when it comes to hip-hop culture), but it sure as hell would never be Drake. I can tell he's too much of a stand-alone type. Doesn't get the need for cooperation and community. Been too rich for too long to understand. Kendrick gets it whatever his origins are.
I'm unfamiliar with rap concerts but the way you explained this to me make me understand it *better* (I mean I am pretty familiar with Kendrick v Drake atp, I am otherwise just that clueless about rap/hip hop 🥲🙃). So great to see Kendrick on top form 🔥🔥🔥
Same, kinda - I enjoy the music but am just learning about the culture around it. I knew enough to know that the concert was a BFD but not enough to really get the whole significance. I love the way Zaid explains the symbolism and the history that gives context to those of us who respect the culture but aren't in it. I hadn't seen the pic so when he showed that part, it made me well up a bit - big Tupac energy 💜
as someone who listens to me electronic music, this is exactly how I feel about the Skrillex and fred again shows from madison square garden last year and just a few weeks ago in front of the civic center in sf
The part of regions in rap reminded me of one of the criticisms leveled at Drake throughout the beef of him going to different cities and appropriating their styles but not really giving back. Recently Drake claimed my hometown Houston, Texas as his home and the backstory is a bit eyebrow raising. Drake got invited by Lil' Wayne to tour with him in 2007 and they linked up in Houston. The two would record several songs while on the tour. Because of this Drake always connected Houston with his success. At the same time I found it funny how his love for Houston came from going to the city only to leave it within hours.
Ive never been to Cali, Ive only lived in the us for about a year and Im still getting used to it. Know next to nothing about rap, or the people being discussed. But even I get chills watching this concert. It's pure magic. There's no mistaking it
Kendrick's musical layering and punning skills are rich and ridiculous. Sampling the a minor chord from Billy Joel's "Big Shot" when he didn't have to was fucking mind-bending to me.
You covered this shit beautiful my guy. I’m from LA, well the Valley, but LA nonetheless. I wish I was home instead of TX to enjoy it. LA all DAY. Thanks Zaid.
No lie- thanks but I do much for posting this. I'm in the UK- no idea this was happening but just the short clips you showed filled me with something phenomenal and so glad I could experience this even if it's just a snippet. Amazing ❤

your passion for rap is infectious. i'd love to hear you talk more about it, maybe even make a "rap for dummies" playlist?
Man man did that! 💪🏾
I know nearly absolutely nothing about anything in the rap scene so thank you for talking about/explaining things for us clueless fucks.
1:30 to be fair it was a very nice, Amazon sponsored food truck
as someone who listens to me electronic music, this is exactly how I feel about the Skrillex and fred again shows from madison square garden last year and just a few weeks ago in front of the civic center in sf
Kendrick hit Ultra instinct in this. The guy was out there to bring a distract full circle to unite.
Wild and a historic milestone.
I don’t really listen to hip hop/rap anymore but I listened to a lot of it growing up. West coast best coast 😎
Dude black hippy coming back together was amazing
1:30 everyone in France is catching strays lol.
Great take love this content 💙💙💙
Fuck, all of this shit has made me look further into rap and now? Fuck this is a special moment, THANKS KDOT!!!
Well said, my nigga. You deserve the mic.
Ive never been to Cali, Ive only lived in the us for about a year and Im still getting used to it. Know next to nothing about rap, or the people being discussed. But even I get chills watching this concert. It's pure magic. There's no mistaking it
A miner = goes to a region and reaps (anagram) the product (gold, coal , talent etc ) for personal gain.
Kendrick's musical layering and punning skills are rich and ridiculous. Sampling the a minor chord from Billy Joel's "Big Shot" when he didn't have to was fucking mind-bending to me.
I love your analogies. Especially about the restaurant metaphor. You're so plugged into the vibe. Great work!
I’ve seen a lot of recaps but yours was the best IMO. One.
Great recap
One of the best recap and more accurately described and felt .
thanks for this vid! this was a positive start to the day, 😁esp the Kendrick show and the message that was underlined! 😊 peace out✌🏾
I've never been in a concert where the crowd was able to sing in such unison that you can hear thousands of words distinctly
That was beautiful. West side!
You encapsulated and articulated the verve of the event exquisitely 👌🏽
You covered this shit beautiful my guy. I’m from LA, well the Valley, but LA nonetheless. I wish I was home instead of TX to enjoy it. LA all DAY. Thanks Zaid.
Best recap out there right now.
The Whole concert felt like a Epilogue in a RPG.
You're not like us either though...
this video right here. Sir. Yes.
Bar 4 Bar!
Let's see Drake bring together our community 😂
I Knew you were gonna pop up 😂❤✌️ No way you weren't gonna talk about this!
No lie- thanks but I do much for posting this. I'm in the UK- no idea this was happening but just the short clips you showed filled me with something phenomenal and so glad I could experience this even if it's just a snippet. Amazing ❤
