I do recall how several years ago you've been choosing a car for your wife, the choice fell to the VE up ev. Never seen it again anywhere around in your videos :)
@@bjornnyland actually you can apparently, its reversed, grab the front part where cushion meets the footwell and pull hard upward and toward the boot and you can remove the cushion.
I have a Passat GTE variant and I would love to have a proper EV variant but this seems so small inside. I have a baby and 2 dogs usually dogs go travel in the boot with the baby in the backseat on the axkid one 2 seat with the strollers folded and I still have room for 3-4 large bags in the back seats and some room in the boot still. This looks really tight
I've considered this too, so far I've seen the seats on the MG5 can fold flat if the seat cushions are moved out of the way (no demo of this being done) but there is a large lip on the back of the seats. It doesn't seem the false floor can be moved up to compensate for this so maybe a custom wood pallet would have to be made to flatten the floor for sleeping (extra points if it's foldable/stowable) or loading washing machines/large furniture easily.
MG5 is the only EV that is of any use to me, so far, all the others are too tiny, with a tiny boot/trunk that will hardly take any 'stuff'. And Bjorn is the only reviewer who measures length/width/height with a proper device, and doesn't just quote litres - who carries loose litres of liquids about in their car? I have a suitcase that won't fit in some cars!
It’s not liquid liters. It’s measures with boxes that are 20x10x5 centimeter (1 liter). It’s only measured up to the top of the seat back, not to the roof. The measure is defined in ISO3832. But I agree that the liter measure isn’t worth much, I like the banana measure better. :)
They say it is but the angle on the rear door suggests that it's more of a hatchback. Which is no bad thing anyway. The Hatchback was a factor in killing off the Estate to some extent, I believe.
Good work. You are a legend. But please remember that families are different. Some have teenagers. Put 2 of them 170 cm each at the back seat, drive for 5 hours and ask how comfortable they are. 😮 The back seat is way too low.
At last a SW model! Can you offer a "working" car? I'm usig a SW patrol car now and I was looking the Nissan NV200 but it has too low charge potential and high noise. Great video and the headlight test was also good. 😁 Hello from Hungary.

I'll be very interested in the 1kkm challenge. 60 ish kwh battery, fairly slow charging but good aero. As a tester you always get the top spec so you haven't got the smaller aero wheels, which would be more efficient. Should beat the fat E-Tron though eh?
At 2:13: The "what the heck is this thing" is used for towing this car with another car. There is a place in front of the car (either left or right side) where you can remove a piece of plastic and find a hole where you can screw this mysterious thing in. You are welcome 😉
Funny thing is that the stroller fits in the back of an old Suzuki Swift but for some reason , car manufacturers have chosen poor designs for the trunks these days
I want to like this car. Hell, it looks much better than the pre-facelift model. But it has an awkward aesthetic, the boot doesn't look very big (for a station wagon/estate) and it is very basic. Personally the Niro EV looks a better option.
Still way smaller boot than the likes of a Passat Variant, Talisman Grandtour or Superb Combi. MG, please do a lager Estate car. Sincerely, a lot of fathers (who don't like SUVs)
Agreed. I have a Superb Estate / Combi & there is nothing in the EV world that can match it in terms of boot space. The Enyaq comes close but no cigar. This facelifted MG5 is now a few years old & due for a replacement soon. Lets hope MG make a bigger estate model on the same platform as the MG4. BTW loads of Taxi drivers use these MG5's in the UK. Affordable, carries 5 people (just) & decent luggage space.
Don’t you pull/fold the rear bench seat forward so you can lay the backs flat??
Nope!
I do recall how several years ago you've been choosing a car for your wife, the choice fell to the VE up ev. Never seen it again anywhere around in your videos :)
The back seats bench dont fold to the floor?
08:47 no, it’s 2x USB-A, no USB-C in the front.
Shame that back seats don't fold flat
Might need to buy thr patent design from Chrysler for full fold down seat.

Theres a workaround you can remove the seat cushion by pulling them off, its a quick connect system no tools required.
@@Icel4nd3r Really? That's interesting, I haven't heard of that before.
Great. Just the review I want to see for this week. Kudos Bjorn
You've got some unique content on your channel Bjørn, keep it up!
3:16 Did you tried to swing the bottom part first towards the front seats? On some of the cars this works best for a flat cargo space.
Not possible
@@bjornnyland sad but true 🙃

MG need to add Nightpanel - Should be easy with Software - I am sure SAAB wouldn't mind
What did you call that plug 0:42? 🤔
What's it like with a back seat down as a sleeping space , I'm trying to decide on either an mg5 or mg4 wonder how it would be for sleeping in to

Do the seat bases lift up? I remember in old Renault you had to lift the seat base, it would flip forward and allow the back to fold flat.
No

The edge on the trunk is called the lip

Isn't the taycan sport turismo an station wagon?

MG doing very well at rhe moment
(For your next video) It would be useful to have an old set of golf clubs and see how they fit in.
How does it cope during winter with degrees minus and snow?
That's a really small boot! We have an Auris and it takes the baby carriage lengthwise and that leaves room for bags too.
The new MG5 is so much better looking than the 1st gen we have in the UK.
I'm hopeful my wife will change her ZSEV for a MG4 or the new MG5 estate.
I'm agree the screen is to bright, same issue with MG EHS. 👍🏻

Something worth mentioning is that it is not NCAP tested by MG. They have done it for all other models, so something is fishy with this car.
