Wow, Jeff you’re doing it again, this video is amazing! My favorite is at 2:11 CMD+SHIFT+V where I’ve literally for had to copy paste text to a text editor and from their copy again to get rid of the HTML formatting and finally paste to the document. This one tip alone will save me a ton of time. Also amazed by the video editing, the 2 picture-in-picture with the top-view of keyboard along with the keystrokes are amazing! 😆
Thanks so much my friend! Yes copy without formatting definitely was a GAME-CHANGER when I was stealin- I mean, uh...researching and referencing online materials... 😉. Are you me? I finally met my match! Haha, as a fellow shortcuts nerd I found this compilation to the point, I can confirm that using shortcuts does make you immediately attractive to everyone around you 😆From the list, Cmd + Option + +/- to add/remove columns and rows was new for me, thanks for that! I'd been using Opt + / to open the help menu and type add/remove row/column to accomplish the same thing, no more of that thanks to you! Some more Mac shortcuts I use to navigate text - 1. Ctrl + 'p' to go up a line and 'n' to go down 2. Ctrl + 'f' to go forward a letter and 'b' to go backward, Ctrl + b doesn't seem to work here in RUclips's comment editor for some reason though. 3. Ctrl + 'e' to go to end of the line 4. Ctrl + 'a' to go to the start of the line PS: I use part of my palm to press the Ctrl key at the left-bottom corner while using these shortcuts, feels more comfortable. Also, some RUclips player shortcuts just in case it helps anyone - 1. 'k' or 'spacebar' to play/pause 2. 'j' 10 sec forward 'l' 10 sec backwards 3. Shift + '>' or '
Whoa, THANK YOU for these tips! Gonna use the text shortcuts immediately! The RUclips ones were mentioned by someone else and now I'm using them. I even have a watch youtube productivity video LOL
1:35 I live on PC and I'm all for shortcuts, and even though I type at 150+ wpm and know more shortcuts than I know what to do with... You're better off and faster just using the mouse to quickly highlight the word and type the new one. Just because you can use shortcuts to do something doesn't mean it's always faster than the normal way. If you're dead set on doing everything through the keyboard, it is nice to have the fastest option available via it, rather than having to delete the sentence lol. Anyways I don't mean negativity. This is a great video and I'm glad people are becoming more aware of the efficiency shortcuts can offer.
Thanks for sharing your perspective my friend! Definitely didn't think it was negativity at all, we are all entitled to our own opinions! For me specifically I find it wayyy faster to not have to reach for the mouse and move the cursor since the keyboard is right there. Perhaps you're just faster in that regard 😂
I love it. I used to use shortcuts back in the day on DOS when we only had keys and the space bar - no mouse. Since the age of mouse I thought people are happy enough to navigate with using a mouse.
I really like your channel and I really like your personality, and I even liked that your entire website is based on Ali Abdaal's website design, your editing style like the facecam and the timestamp effect in the beginning of each video is exactly like Ali Abdaal. That is probably because I like Ali Abdaal.
As a college student, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V are the ones that feels the most natural to me while my least natural one is probably also Ctrl+Tab. It’s so awkward positioning your fingers like that! Anyways, thanks for the video, Jeff :P So update, I got the internship (well, one of them)! I’m still waiting to hear back from another company that I applied to and did the first round of interviewing for but worst case scenario is that I only have to juggle one instead of two internship commitments this summer haha. Thanks again! Your career advice and tips have been very helpful 😁
That means CTRL TAB must be even worse for you 😂! Congrats on the offers Andrea! But you can only do 1 right? You’re not going to be working multiple internships at once?
Yeah, I can only take one since they're both full time. Just waiting to hear back from the second one now. Honestly though, I backed out of the first one because it seemed sketchy o~o
Well... I’m a little embarrassed to say this but it actually turned out to be a scam 😅 So in the beginning, I wasn’t very wary since it was through a job search platform that I was provided access to by my uni (it’s called Handshake, not sure if you’ve heard of it) but the process just got really abnormal towards the end. The breakdown of what happened was that after I got “accepted” (which I was really excited about), they emailed me pictures of a check for purchasing “training materials” and told me to deposit it through my mobile banking app. That started raising red flags since but since it wouldn’t really harm me to do so, I went ahead and did it. It would take a couple days to process but then they started pressuring me to pay this “vendor” through Zelle as soon as possible so that I can start my “training.” I told them that before the check settles, the funds would be a problem and asked if I could start my training later. Then I told my parents about it and my mom immediately told me that it was a scam and to stop corresponding with them. I contacted my uni’s career services and they looked into it and it turns out that while the company was a real one, the listing on Handshake was fake. It was really upsetting finding out that the internship experience I was looking forward to so much was a lie but I’m glad I was able to learn a hard lesson (about not being too trusting of others even if I connected with them through a warm connection which was my uni in this case) without losing anything like my hard-earned money or even sensitive personal information. Still feeling bummed about it though... 😞
I know for certain that the second internship I applied to is real though 😆 if both had accepted me (and were legitimate) then the second one would have been my first choice. However, I’ve only went through the first stage of the interview and I haven’t heard back from my interviewer about the second round. Do you know of any ways to gently probe them about it without coming off as pushy? I have an idea that I’m going to try out but I just thought that maybe this can be a potential video? :P
Honestly, your videos helped me save so much time and be so more efficient at work, I cannot even describe it! Thank you so much. I can't wait for the next one!
Thanks Jeff for that gmail shortcut for indenting bullets. That really made my day. Just thought sharing 2 which I use - 1. To lock the mac you can use command + control + Q. 2. Instead of Ctrl+Tab for moving through tabs in Chrome, I love using Option+Cmd+(RightArrow or LeftArrow). Also works in VSCode tabs for the devs out there. :) Cheers, your interview prep videos helped me land my first dev position in a startup. Your videos are an example of what informative tutorials should be like. Keep it up.
Wait what. I had no idea cmd opt arrow keys worked. Going to try that later (I’m on my phone right now). And wow congrats Teodor!!!! That’s amazing to hear, thanks for making my morning 😏
@@JeffSu This method is cool cuz you could do it using only one hand using the right command/option buttons and your pinky on the arrow keys. Also another cozy method for a wider keyboard is Control + PgUp/PgDn; my fave cuz it’s more of an open stance, compared to contorting your hands with cmd/opt + arrow keys. In my eyes it’s a more closed off position, body language wise, even if it’s just you and your computer.
I'm a MacOS and Windows 11 user, love them both. Windows handles this sort of thing so much more elegantly than MacOS. Having to press a three-key-shortcut to key shortcut to insert a bullet list instead of shift+8 and Windows auto formatting seems. The Home and End keys on Windows with or without the shift does all the sentence highlighting as well. Great and useful shortcuts, thank you. Things just seem far more complicated on Mac than on Windows sometimes.
BRO! I was lookin for the "tab + `" shortcut for a long time! Thanks! I had to create a macro with the keyboard maestro to make this! In fact! keyboard maestro it's a great software for Productivity! if you don't know about this software, YOU SHOULD!
I use auto-hotkey to map my CapsLock key to a function key. So I jump around tabs in Chrome using CapsLock + 1 or 2 Capslock + T to open task manager + K to open up my autohotkey script + W to close the whole window + N to translate Dutch to English (and install a keyboard shortcut plugin for Google Translate and use many other shortcuts there) + F to translate French to English and the list goes on and on and on.... Main takeaway: AHK can do endless shortcuts!!! And I'm surprised by how much shortcuts that I am able to remember by heart
One of the most underrated shortcut I've found is "windows+v". It lets you to use the clipboard feature in windows. Its very easy to copy lots of different texts and values and paste it in different places. And a plus is you can save even bunch of bullet points, tables and whatever you want in your clipboard.
I frequently encounter this problem, when clicking the lower right small box of the cell doesn't work properly. Either it doesn't perform its purpose or it stops when the neighboring column has blanks. So, my favorite keyboard shortcut in this video is CMD+R or D, this solves my problem and saves me time from dragging the formula down to the last row of the table. Thanks for a great and helpful vid Jeff!
If you want to cycle trough your tabs with only your left hand (so to leave your right hand on your mouse) on Windows, you can also press ALT + TAB, and then hold your ALT key, and you cycle through your tabs with every press on TAB.
OMG full of a TON of amazing tips. I stopped many times to take notes.. Thinking of making a laminated cheat sheet for quick reference when I am working. Do you happen to have a list of all/some of the ones you mentioned??
Jeff you're killing it, love the diversified content! I actually recently went through and got an interview due to your cover letter /resume video, wanted to thank you for that! I was wondering in your opinion if its still recommend to send thank you emails after interviews, or is it usually an afterthought that isn't read. Thanks man!
Hi Pyonz, glad you're enjoying all the types of content! Congrats on the interview! That's amazing my friend 😁, let me know how it goes! You should definitely send thank you emails after interviewers, preferably within 48 hours!

Hey, just wanted to drop a big thank you for those awesome Mac tips! I'm actually in the process of switching from Windows to Mac, so your video came at the perfect time. Seriously, your advice was so helpful, it's like having a cool older brother who knows all about Macs and tech stuff. Loved how informative and funny the video was, too. Wish I had those sarcastic "side effects" you mentioned, haha! Even though the video is 2 years old, it's still super well-made. Great job, man! By the way, any chance you could do another video on Mac keyboard shortcuts? May be more of finder and other desktop ones and this time a longer one? The video was great. Keep up the fantastic work! 🎉
7:12 I work with a team and I get bonuses at the end of every quota we meet. Not going to lie... Ever since I started watching and using some of Jeff's tips, I've not only been meeting all of the quotas, I've also gotten two raises. And sure enough, my teammates are very friendly with me because of it. One thing I would absolutely love to see is a video on how you format emails. Like in that Google photos video; you made a gif with all the photos from a work event. I'd love to see exactly how you format the emails to get them to look the way they do. I'm honestly so fed up with dropping little attachments for things like that.
Hi Jeff! Really love your work, the production is just so good! Hoping you'll do a student's guide (interning and extracurriculars?) Nonetheless, great job and hope you are doing well! :)

I absolutely love your videos! During this video, you mentioned using the keyboard shortcut for cycling through chrome tabs. I was wondering if you ever like to use the (Command+Number) shortcut to chose specific tabs corresponding with the number. Purely out of curiosity. (I have truly enjoyed your videos and recommend your channel to everyone who asks for productivity advice) Thanks man!
Hi Cody! Another viewer actually taught me an easier method would be to use CMD+OPTION+Arrow keys, and I've been using that since! I haven't used the number one because I usually don't know which "number" I need to hit haha. And thank you!!
Another banger video! ~ = "Tilda Key" 😁 I use it all the time in my work. Do you have any videos on using Gmail for my other domain emails so ally email address can be handled in gmail?
@@JeffSu Yeah. Sorry for not being clear. I want to see my business emails and Gmail all inside of Gmail. I have been experimenting with it but it's hard to organize it all. I was hoping you already had a video on it so I wouldn't be bugging yah.
I found out that you can actually use " Cmd + Shift + ] " to replace "Ctrl + Tab", and " Cmd + Shift + [ " to replace "Ctrl + Shift + Tab". This is actually a great alternative for the shortcut key mentioned in 9:18, but takes time to get used to it.

You're welcome Rucha! Well I definitely don't want to be taking away from your productivity, so maybe just watch 2 videos a week? 😉
@@JeffSu it doesn't normally happen... Once in a while I spend too much time at once... But it is still a productive distraction.. So win win😉
Instead of Ctrl+Tab for moving through tabs in Chrome, I love using Option+Cmd+(RightArrow or LeftArrow). Also works in VSCode tabs for the devs out there. :)
Cheers, your interview prep videos helped me land my first dev position in a startup.
Yea...both OS' have their pros and cons!
Such a dope video, riddled with actionable tips. Never been happier to smash the like and subscribe!
Thank you Aaron!! Glad you enjoyed it 😁
BRO! I was lookin for the "tab + `" shortcut for a long time! Thanks! I had to create a macro with the keyboard maestro to make this! In fact! keyboard maestro it's a great software for Productivity! if you don't know about this software, YOU SHOULD!
Glad to hear it Joao 😁
Squigly line ~ is tilde (prounounced Tilda)
Aha! Thank you Jason! Command Tilda then 😂
I use auto-hotkey to map my CapsLock key to a function key.
So I jump around tabs in Chrome using CapsLock + 1 or 2
Capslock + T to open task manager
+ K to open up my autohotkey script
+ W to close the whole window
+ N to translate Dutch to English (and install a keyboard shortcut plugin for Google Translate and use many other shortcuts there)
+ F to translate French to English
and the list goes on and on and on....
Main takeaway: AHK can do endless shortcuts!!! And I'm surprised by how much shortcuts that I am able to remember by heart
Wow that's great! That's AMAZING actually! Thanks for sharing 😁
Going from video to video is like taking a college course on the topic 😁 Thank you Jeff! 😁
So.... I should start charging? 😏😏
@@JeffSu NO: I will probably earn a C or D in the course, so I shouldn't have to pay. YES: But you would have to pay for dinner and drinks🤣🤣

Welcome 😂
One of the most underrated shortcut I've found is "windows+v". It lets you to use the clipboard feature in windows. Its very easy to copy lots of different texts and values and paste it in different places. And a plus is you can save even bunch of bullet points, tables and whatever you want in your clipboard.
Oh wow I had no idea even when I used windows. Does it bring up a new window to show you all the things you copied?? 🤯
Tight. Thx SA
@@JeffSu well, it just creates a tiny window just beside your cursor so you can quickly choose from your clipboard
@@TheDibash Gotcha, that does extremely useful!
Love to hear how this solved a real world issue for you my friend! Enjoy 😁
Bro, you're a friggen ninja this is great.
Thanks so much Cody! As long as I don't meet any Samurais then I should be safe 😉
If you want to cycle trough your tabs with only your left hand (so to leave your right hand on your mouse) on Windows, you can also press ALT + TAB, and then hold your ALT key, and you cycle through your tabs with every press on TAB.
Great tip Leander!!
OMG full of a TON of amazing tips. I stopped many times to take notes.. Thinking of making a laminated cheat sheet for quick reference when I am working. Do you happen to have a list of all/some of the ones you mentioned??
😅 mainly muscle memory now...sorry Shannon!!
@@JeffSu Thanks so much for your reply! Looking forward to watching and learning more.
I created one & laminated it for quick reference! Happy to share if anyone is interested.. Not super fancy, but it will be handy to reference.
thank you so much !
You're welcome Sion :)
Just awesome video! I always learn something new that I knew I wanted to exist but didnt know how to look for it... (Im refering to the selection shortcuts for text editing) super useful! Thank you so much I hope your channel grows lots! You put a lot of work into it!
Thanks so much Teo! Really appreciate the comment and kind words!! Glad you find value from these videos 😁😁
These are soooo helpful. I need to practice! Your keyboard shortcuts for gmail were a game changer!
No need to try to feel like you need to use all the shortcuts immediately! But yes, I can't live without shortcuts now!!
I also use in Windows the shorcut: win + number. In order to open a specific program in windows taskbar
Oh nice! I used to be a Windows person before the Mac Nation attacked, that would be a great shortcut actually!
This is the first time I have ever in my life ……. Reduced speed of a RUclips video. Great vids keep em coming. Would love one on Alfred for Mac
Wow, honored to have forced you to slowed down the speed Shanan 😁
oml this is SO cool!!!
Thank you! 😁
Glad you enjoyed this 😁
I don't have another video dedicated to keyboard shortcuts but I talk about the shortcuts I use in my videos haha
You’re a great resource. Keep up the excellent work.
Anyway, could we have a google doc cheat sheet for keyboard shortcuts?.😂
Thank you John Mor! Glad you found the videos helpful!
Oh that's a good idea, I might make one and put it up on my website sometime 😂
Awsome Content !!
Thank you Pritish! Glad you enjoyed it
@@JeffSu I have sent you a connection request on LinkedIn hope you accept it!!😉

7:12 I work with a team and I get bonuses at the end of every quota we meet. Not going to lie... Ever since I started watching and using some of Jeff's tips, I've not only been meeting all of the quotas, I've also gotten two raises. And sure enough, my teammates are very friendly with me because of it.
One thing I would absolutely love to see is a video on how you format emails. Like in that Google photos video; you made a gif with all the photos from a work event. I'd love to see exactly how you format the emails to get them to look the way they do. I'm honestly so fed up with dropping little attachments for things like that.
Update: I think I just figured it out🤦🏿♂️. I literally facepalmed the moment I noticed it. Would still watch a video on it, though😁.
That's great to hear Kolawole!! Huge congrats!! :D
hahaha sounds good!
Hi, Jeff! Thank you for these tips, man!
Could you please make a video about your favorite/useful shortcuts for macOS?
Greetings from Brazil!
Hi Wilian! Will do down the line 😉
Hi Jeff! Really love your work, the production is just so good! Hoping you'll do a student's guide (interning and extracurriculars?) Nonetheless, great job and hope you are doing well! :)
Hi Marc, thanks for the feedback! I have that content planned but it might take a while to get there 😅
How did you get the Google Sans font? Also, can you make a video about Google Drive Priority and Workspaces?
shortcut proposal for switching between tabs: command option and the arrows
this allows you to move between the windows from both directions
That's a great point! Thanks for sharing Victor 😁
More of this please and well done for the channel! The background music is unnecessary
Thanks so much Xavier! Thanks also for the feedback regarding the music, I'll try to make it even more soft next time 😁
Awesome video! Thank you! Also it would have been very helpful if you listed down the shortcuts to the side of the screen :).
Oh wow that's great feedback. Thank you Daniyal!
I am so glad to see that you are using Alfred and not spotlight
I used to rely way too much on spotlight, so glad I switched to Alfred. I'm so curious as to whether the paid PowerPack is worth it
@@JeffSu I Got the cracked power pack, and it is absolutely essential now. U will no longer be able to use a regular Mac without the power pack. If u want, I can link you in to a list of apps that I think are worth paying for, specifically for productivity.
@@akhilachanta805 sure that would be awesome!!

You can actually like the video from the keyboard! Just smash tab until it's highlighted and hit enter ;)
Nice to know! Thank you Ruben! Did you do that for this video? 😁
Jeff, what program do you use to show the shortcuts on screen. Very helpful for remote pair programming.

07:15 Start new Monday by reviewing this keyboard shortcut video. Side effects are terrifying. Time to go!
Everything in moderation. Don't let the side effects affect your life too much 😉

Wow, that's awesome! 😁
“Hey Google, tell me why this video only has 17K views so far?!” 🔥
"No idea. Must be a bug"
@@JeffSu Time to escalate to the YT algorithm team to investigate 🕵️♂️
Do you not use any Finder alternative like commander one or pathfinder?
I don't actually! I haven't heard of them until you mentioned them haha. What are their benefits?
Could you please tell me how to insert the custom banner with social links at the bottom of the mail?
You can use a free gmail signature app!! 😁
option is alt on windows right? it wont work to me lol
You might need to Google the Windows shortcuts specifically!
loved it
Glad you enjoyed it my friend 😊😊
can i make my tab un-expandable (the tabs were on icons)? or its just for mac
Hi Slater - What do you mean by un-expandable?
Just saw ur tabs on chrome are just on icons

Do you have any videos on using Gmail for my other domain emails so ally email address can be handled in gmail?
Aha - Tilda, gotcha. I'm not sure I understand the question, are your other domains using Google Workspace?
@@JeffSu Yeah. Sorry for not being clear. I want to see my business emails and Gmail all inside of Gmail. I have been experimenting with it but it's hard to organize it all. I was hoping you already had a video on it so I wouldn't be bugging yah.
This is such a bummer! You should mention this is for mac users in the title!

since you are using Command + space to switch to 中文输入 , How else can you use the same command for alfred
😅 I misspoke in the video, it's CTRL+SPACE for language input, so it doesn't affect CMD+SPACE
@@JeffSu thank you soooooooo MUCH
@@Jacky_xu you’re welcome Jacky!!
That's a great point Ricky! I'll try that right now!
