Great video, you have covered all main differences :), I would only add one information: In sharepoint online you can purchase additional storage and in OneDrive for business you can only increase storage in Plan 2 and at least with 5 licensed users in your organization, but thats technical difference.
Would it be bad to use SharePoint for all of your personal documents so you can take advantage of some features that SharePoint has that are not included in OneDrive. For example, when you are viewing the list of documents in SharePoint you have an option to Add Column that could be used to add more organization to your files.
OneDrive is just a software which allows you to access files on SharePoint and make it look as if the file are stored on your local computer. You can have public as well as team files on OneDrive, depending on which folders you sync on your OneDrive from SharePoint. So saying that OneDrive is for private files only is inaccurate.
I take it there is a separate fee for both? Microsoft website information is very vague when it states "1 TB of cloud storage." For what platform? Sharepoint or OneDrive. Or both? Or neither?
Thank you for this video. Is it possible to share the main folder and restrict access to certain subfolders ? Looking for a cloud replacement solution for Shared drives on Windows Server. Thanks
Hey Matt, I have a question. I couldn't upload large files on my tenants one drive while I can still upload small word documents. Is it because of space?
@@CollaborationCoach What do you mean? Thats like asking "is a File Server a folder?". This answer and the original question presented seem to suggest that you don't get the concept of OneDrive. It is simply a personal instance of storage in Sharepoint so to ask if you should store files in Sharepoint OR OneDrive is a nonsensical question.
@@CollaborationCoach My understanding. Sharepoint is the original product and One drive "for business" was built on top of it -- and One drive PERSONAL (originally skydrive) is a different product which was built to compete with Dropbox.
Onedrive can be used independent of Sharepoint, saying Onedrive is Sharepoint is dumb. Also the video clearly explains the differences. Are you mentally challenged?

Great tip!
Good point. Thank you sharing that tip with us.
This video is great because it’s such a simple, coherent, and easy to digest overview of both OneDrive and SharePoint. Great job! 👏🏼

This video was very informative and easy to follow. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Matt for this explanatory video. Is it fair to say that setting up Sharepoint is beyond the skills of micro businesses ?

Can you be a member of more than one group? and also for each group is there a limitation in the space where we upload files?

You may check the default storage from OneDrive Admin Center and max file size limit as per your plan
Great and simple explanation. Thanks!
thank you for the video. A little question: Can I use onedrive to sync my sharepoint files on my laptop?
Yes you can. Any SharePoint library or folder.

Is there a way to sync a folder on your onedrive with a folder in Sharepoint?
If it is not "build by default" option, then my guess would be using PowerAutomate to do that, its only my suggestion.
helpful video!
Great video/info..! simple/powerful.. thanks
Thanks for watching!
I have a question, Can I share my PowerPoint in Ms teams meeting through onedrive.
Yes
Thank you for sharing and explaining it so plainly. One question, can you edit a word document on shared point without downloading it?
Yes you can edit it in the browser without downloading it.
@@CollaborationCoach Not in all cases, for example in some situations where you have used Sensitivity Labels on the document.

is it rainbow party here?
my company moved Box to Sharepoint/OneDrive. Worst decision ever.
Microsoft has never been an intuitive company. Their way or the highway!
OneDrive is Sharepoint
But is SharePoint OneDrive?
