  • As someone who has been part of the LGBTQIA+ community for almost 13 years, I have seen a lot of parts of our community. But the one part that confuses me the most is conversative LGBT people. I really don't think I will ever understand why they are filled with so much hate but you and I can go on a little journey together into conservative lgbt tiktok and find out exactly what they are saying.

So violent porn, gonzo porn and child pron are okay? Most people can live with the death penalty for sex crimes (pedophilia and rape for example). Trans people ARE creating porn; trans is the 3rd category choice after `straight` and `gay` porn. Men are watching porn on their phones in public while there are women present. Maybe somebody could try and do something about that?

At some point you figure out that every time people such as yourself talk about "trans people" you're not actually talking about the population of trans people as a whole, but a small demographic of narcissistic ideological zealots who have no personality outside of trivial subjects such as gender identity. You see, Trump is not actually anti-trans, he is however against this fringe group of ideological zealots, and guess what? Not every trans person is part of your little victim fantasy.

2:43 We need “validation” from the government to feel safe enough to leave the house and talk to our doctors. Our rights are in constant limbo. That’s not privilege, it’s asking for some, for our civil rights to be protected.
7:10 It’s not an ideology, that’s just how language works. Frankly, non-binary is a spectrum and someone can identify as feminine and choose to identify as a lesbian if they want. A non-binary person might be more attracted to cis woman. Butch lesbians have existed for a long time and don’t necessarily identify as gender-nonconforming. There is no reason to confine this terminology to cis women, this person is just limiting perspective with their own preconceived thoughts. This discourse is almost never applied to pop culture changing meanings which only further points out the hypocrisy of being upset about words having new meaning.
    TL;DR
Besides potential income, I think conservative queer people are just victims of toxic families pushing certain agendas and ideologies onto their kids and these kids don’t know how to grow up without seeking parental approval. Alternatively, they just want attention.

As a nonbinary lesbian who's dating a trans lesbian, the whole "only cis women can be lesbians" thing confuses me so much. I've always loved women, even before I came out as nonbinary. So lesbian has always been the term I used for myself (once I accepted that fact at least). And I don't like men so no other label seems to fit me?
As for my girlfriend, the fact that anyone can see her as anything but a woman genuinely baffles me. I literally packed feminine products on a trip just in case she needed them and it took me a few moments before I realized she didn't need those lol. She only likes non men, I only like non men. And neither of us are men. So lesbian fits us both very well.
I do remember spiraling down a trans med rabbit hole back in middle school though. And my thoughts would've been very very different. I remember hearing that trans women were forcing lesbians to be with them and it was transphobic to say no. Which is such a weird claim??? I still hear people say it. But like, if you don't wanna date a trans woman? Just politely say so. Let her be with someone else who does want to be with her. Someone who will love and respect her. Obviously saying yes just because you don't want to come off as transphobic would just lead to not so fun circumstances for either of you. And this goes with dating as a whole. But specifically with lesbians, I see no point for the in fighting. Especially since he/him lesbians used to be super common. Some people will argue that there's no need to be a male presenting lesbian now so he/him lesbians aren't valid. But if that's what someone's comfortable with then that's what they're comfortable with.
I know it was really REALLY hard for me to come to terms with my being nonbinary because I was constantly hearing these things. How could I come out as not quite feeling like a woman if everyone in my ear was saying I had to be a woman to date other women? I'm nonbinary and I'm a lesbian. There's nothing wrong with that. And my girlfriend may have been born a boy, but that doesn't make her any less of a woman or a lesbian.
But yeah, the debates lesbians have over trans people in the community is just pointless and annoying. There are much more important things to talk about, in my opinion. Like how lesbian is treated as a dirty word and how if you look it up you get porn before anything else. That feels like a much bigger problem to me.

I just hate it when so much of the rep for queer people is cis white big three (bi, gay, lesbian) people. Queer means so much more than just people who fit into the "simpler" boxes. We need pride because so many of us are still misunderstood and under represented. Also there are so many people like me who are still closeted. We need representation for asexual (umbrella term) people, pansexual people, aromantic (umbrella term) people, non-bisexual bi-umbrella people, and trans people who are not 100% ftm or mtf who do not fit the gender binary (or don't fit what people expect a trans person to present as for example a trans woman who is masculine or androgynous). There's so much more to the rainbow and we need all of it to be represented. ESPECIALLY intersex people and fighting for the rights of intersex children to have a say in whether or not they want gender affirming surgery. It's more complicated than gay or straight.

If the argument is that the White House, major cities, and supermarkets displaying rainbow colors and celebrating queer pride during June is special treatment of a privileged group, is logically follows that Christians are even more privileged for the “special treatment” they receive in December.
Every year, the White House displays lavish and expensive Christmas decorations, NYC erects an enormous Christmas tree and holds a lighting ceremony, and every supermarket is flooded with more red, white, and green than an Italian embassy the moment October ends.

Its not just an orientation to some people its a community. One that was once so exclusionary of gender non-conforming lesbians the lipstick lesbian flag was very commonly used. People arent ready to share their community with people they feel don't fit in. But we do fit. Gender non-conforming lesbians know there attraction to women to be queer because we aren't men and our experience of gender is in some way closely aligned with that of cis women, take myself for example, I don't feel any gender whatsoever however I was afab and present pretty traditionally feminine

Still, saying that lesbians are attracted to "non-men" is nonsensical. Imagine a masculine AMAB non-binary person, who is by definition a non-man. It's obvious a lesbian would not be physically attracted to them since they don't have a "female" sex, neither have they transitioned to a female gender and they are not feminine.
The problem I see here is that we start to mix physical attraction, which is mostly based on you sex, with gender, which is not dependent on your body. Wouldn't it be more accurate to say lesbians are women who are attacked to people of female sex who have not (physically) transitioned to a masculine gender and people of male sex or intersex people who have (physically) transitioned to a female gender (as long as they pass, I guess)?

I agree that this is a sad state of affairs for our community. So much of what you mentioned is true. Language always evolves and can even differ amongst people who speak the same language. Think of regional variations of word usage. I grew up in the Midwest calling carbonated beverages “pop”. Where I live inTexas now they either call it soda or everything coke. The US and Great Britain use a lot of different words for things than we do and so on. But, overall it is sad that some people in our community are not only intolerant towards others, but also completely DELULU to think tRump cares about them beyond getting their votes. I’m a non binary lesbian, and really like the brides of thinking of lesbian meaning a more nuanced non-male wanting a relationship with another non-male. Since I have a wide variety of types of women I’m attracted to-usually androgynous or masc but occasionally a femme presenting individual, it makes sense to me. I hope they see the light before it’s too late. I’d definitely like more videos like this. It was an interesting look into this group.

Regarding the second TikTok post, I am not sick of the pride flag. Yes, I identify as a gay man, and I also enjoy seeing a pride flag throughout the year. I miss going to prides. My city did not have one this year. I agree that privilege is also involved when discussing social equality/equity. Personally, I prefer equity since equity requires understanding the rare circumstances of each situation. I identify as a gay man and miss having local events with gay men. Having a pride month helps with that. It doesn't diminish it. I thank him for sharing his thoughts. He sounds intellectual and I wish him well.

This creator is an example...how many `gender identities` has she said she is? actually I think for some of them it could be the opposite problem of being coward or not brave, they think that because we’re no longer being murdered in the street or being considered so disgusting we don’t even deserve a cross to be burnt on that it’s enough and asking for anything else like access to transitioning and having pride month or being openly gay is just too much to them.
As someone who was abused as a child it took me a while to get used to my teenaged step siblings and the fact that teenagers act rebellious without being abused. I had a reason to act messed up at that age and they didn’t, their bratty behaviour made my blood boil to the point I couldn’t be around them.
They are actually well adjusted adults now, more so than I am.
I think for these people it’s kind of like that, they’re angry that we’re all “too sensitive and too proud and too entitled” when really the bare minimum of not being afraid for our lives shouldn’t be all we ask for.
They’re like “wow thank you so much for not murdering me I don’t claim these other guys” I think for some of them they’re like stockholm victims.

I am a centrist and I watch both sides and both sides have good thoughts. What I'm into is that people must leave each other alone. If someone wants to call themselves a lesbian, okay let it be but if the definition of other person doesn't match your definition, don't imply it to them! Both sides, right and left have a problem of implying their views to each other and thinking that their true is the only true, when it reality each person has their own true. One cis woman must be uncomfortable with trans woman in the bathroom while other cis woman won't. And that's completely okay, because everyone is different!

the problem is it can’t be that? if some think that only adults should be allowed to medically transition and others think that kids should be allowed to medically transition too you can’t just leave it. if someone thinks you shouldn’t have pride flags because they aren’t oppressed now but the other thinks people should put a flag to imply safety as they still see or deal with it you can’t drop it. some opinions can not be just dropped. you can’t both have no pride and still have pride, that’s why it’s a problem. if it was just i think their should be i think clothes shouldn’t be gendered vs i think clothes should be gendered it most likely could be dropped :3

Here is the defintion of lesbian: a person who identifies as such.
The only time a definition should matter is in academic literature because you need to draw an arbitrary line aomewhere in your sample. Other than that, definitions by their own nature are fuzzy because categories are fuzzy. The only way to make a definition not fuzzy is to name everything that fits into the category. Thus your definition excludes anything not explicitly name. For example, if you want to make a strict definition of lesbian then you need to have a list of every person who fits this category. Anyone who is not on the list is not a lesbian. I feel like people need to learn about the Plato's notion of forms and what makes a chair a chair.
