Their pro instrument series like this all had MIDI outputs, including the drum kits - Harmonix were big into their music production, and these things were just regular instruments at that point. The opposite also exists - there's an adapter that you can plug into your 360 then plug a MIDI keyboard or electronic drum set in to play Rock Band 3 with. Neat stuff
After investigating a bit, I can see why Rock Band has such a really nice cult following, not only was the song selection ***much*** more varied than ANY Guitar Hero (for game purposes), but also all of these that pushes in a way to people to actually become musicians, or musicians to actually play more with their instruments, is actually neat
@@radiantansel202 seeing they dropped the pro mode or even the keyboard I doubt that. It was a neat little experiment but I don't think much people even knew the game had a pro mode. Rocksmith on the other hand did pretty well. the 2014 game only stopped releasing DLC's once they started working on a new game.
Also the people who made rock band originally made guitar hero, so they had a chance to improve/rework things. I cant tell you exactly why, but i just prefer the feel of rock band 😊
@@yol_n To be fair I doubt Mad Catz or PDP wanted to invest in making pro mode intruments for Rock Band 4 even if Harmonix wanted to (sans the drums) due to how they didnt really sell well. I mean you can still find some of them in-box for (relatively) a cheap prive. Which sucks since it would be nice to have some key charts for some of the more recent DLC, and the idea of using just the actual instruments seems like a natural evolution of Harmonix's philosophy regarding Rock Band as a whole.
I’m not sure why this is funny. Yes, it’s a MIDI keyboard! Harmonix made it so you can take your Rock Band 3 keyboard and graduate to a usable MIDI keyboard, or take your existing MIDI keyboard and use it with Rock Band. It’s all intentional.
The actual piano keys count as notes in the pro mode of the game as well. So you can play real songs on it. It's a bit awkward because the keyboard is very tiny but hey it works.
I have two of these that I got for peanuts and use them with my Volcas and other synth hardware - I love them so much - 3 AA batteries last forever, full size keys, keybed is pro quality, and velocity sensitive too! I like them better in a lot of ways than my Arturia Keystep 37.
I have a wok version of the keyboard and for some reason the 5white keys and 3 black keys (minus the last key) all the way to the right don’t do anything, my setup is power to midi engine and midi in aux port and headphones and the keyboard has batteries ,is there something missing with my setup and where do you connect the usb, if anyone else knows pleas let me know.thank you for your time
Midi controllers (like this one) don't work with amps because they just send note signals and don't actually have a synthesizer to produce any kind of sound.
I will make a new video soon with more functions. I got a new tripod for my phone so I can film and use both of my hands on the keyboard! I think you could make this keyboard work with a wireless midi dongle but I don't have one. I want to visit Argentina some day!
@@Npakaderm Thanks for answering. I'll be attentive to more videos. I wanted to ask, if with the rockband3 dongle I could use it wirelessly to play sounds from the PC. I'm interested in this topic since there are almost no videos on RUclips. Thank you again.

Just picked one of these up for 35 bucks. What a steal 😄

I found one at a thrift shop yesterday for $9. I thought no way is this compatible, and sure enough it works lol. Super rad
"For some reason" it's because they're f***in' awesome and leveraged mass production for the masses!
glad you are stoked, I WANT ONE!!!!!
exelent video!!!Can you make another video with more keyboard functions as a midi device? Greetings from Argentina

I have the wii version and a usb to midi cable how do I make this work cause idk what I'm doing
Can it be plugged straight into and amp or does it have to go into a PC?

Is there any way to occupy it wirelessly whit your dongle connected to a daw on the pc?
there's a driver called rb3kbmidi on the internet
No MIDI connector on WII keyboard ? On bluetooth it's possible ?
