I've been listening to MO for more than 3 years now. For me, they are able to create an emotion that brings me to the peak of happiness even though their songs contain 'depressing' traits. Andy Hull is a genius. So even if he isn't helping out the shitty parts of the world with his music, he is at least helping me.

I'm not as involved as I could be with war and famine abroad but I do participate in fundraising and 5k runs to raise awareness about hunger here in America. Not that the US should isolate itself, but we do have severe problems here that need be solved first in my opinion. I still have to object to the shaming, theres got to be a better motivator.

Next, numerous musicians do use their wealth and power towards positive ends (Radiohead with carbon emmisions, Bono's charity, Madonna..ect) You should start by giving $ and forming your own charity towards helping children in war torn countries since you are very passionate about the subject. "Insular and apathetic" apathy would imply they do feel tor the problems of others....

As for myself; In addition to my involvement with various collectives and human rights organizations, I give presentations on Mesoamerican history and native self-determination. I hope that sheds some light on the darkness of your presumptions. Perhaps you could benefit from a little shaming.
