- Basement had a really great record come out in 2011 called "I Wish I Could Stay Here". I was a huge fan of it so when the band announced they were breaking up after one last US tour, I wanted to get them in for a session. Very stoked they trusted me enough to film their first acoustic session.
Im a 33 year old grown man and i still jam to this after all these years this brings back those feelings of angst. Its a funny feeling watching the songs we loved as contemporary become pieces of our history.
Its an amazing feeling, takes me back to my youth instantly. I hope adult life is going good bro 💕

Still amazing as it was 6 years ago.
I've had this version on repeat for the past few days, performed. I just love hearing the sadness in his voice and thinking about how much the lyrics probably mean to him, and to the band. It's also the blank expression on his face whilst playing it that got to me, all I can see is sadness. I don't know whether or not he really was, but it really adds to the atmosphere of the performance and helps me feel as though they're performing just for me. Basically, this is my sad song.

this was perfect. Sad to see it come to a hiatus right after releasing a tremendous album but it makes me feel nice that they all are pursuing their other goals and I hope when they reunite, that they will have accomplished those goals. Would make it that much sweeter.

I hope they do well whatever they choose to do. All good things come to an end, but luckily a few other members of the band are involved in some of their own musical projects such as the "November Group", a few other members are a part of "Strange Places".

Basement were one of THE best bands to grace the ears of people who got to listen to it, "Illuminati" had nothing to do with their break-up or the music they made. It came from living life and the everyday struggle.
I had talked to the other guitarist (not in this video) and he said they are breaking up to go back to school and find jobs.
He, himself, said he's tired of touring the world and then going back home to his moms house.
