If you like seeing more of the band next songs I recommend "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" (2015) from their official channel. This song is more like power metal, so you can see what the band is capable of.
Nice reaction. Babymetal is the whole package. The band, the dance, vocals, crowd participation and stage theatrics. You don't just attend a Babymetal show. You experience a Babymetal concert.
Awesome guys, great reaction! Su-metal says, "Don't think, feel!" Which sums up your feeling haha. This song's been in live rotation ever since inception, and they just recently performed a Momometal special for her 21st birthday early March 2024. Later on, you should check out that version too! Suggestions showcasing the Kami Band: *Rondo of Nightmare (Budokan 2014):* Su-metal solo (Kami East solos). *Kagerou (Legend Metal Galaxy 2020):* Heavy, sassy, with attitude. (Kami West solos). There's a newer version from Legend MM, but I don't believe it's readily available on RUclips, and also unsure of how copyright safe that new version is. There are plenty more songs with band intros, solos, etc. I'm sure you've already gotten tons of other suggestions, so look forward to more Babymetal!! 🤘🦊
I first got interested in Babymetal after discovering their song "Gimme Chocolate!", then I heard "Megitsune", then I heard "Headbanger" and this is the song that sold me to Babymetal. After hearing this song, I dove head first into the Fox-Hole (Babymetal version of Rabbit-Hole) and never recovered. 🤣 It is definitely normal to need more time to understand Babymetal. They can be described easily by 2 ways, Metal Dance Unit, Kawaii (Cute) Metal Band. One way I always say about them is, they performs Metal music in a Pop way. Headbanger is one of their earlier song and I think it is a good idea to explore their earlier songs and performances to understand their style more. You said something about seeing more of the band, they are called "Kami (God) Band" a group of session musician hired to play for their live performance only. There are a few songs that features "Kami Band" a bit more, here are some suggestion: Babymetal - "Catch Me If You Can" Live at Budokan 2014. Babymetal - "Rondo of Nightmare" Live at Budokan 2014. {This is 1 out of 4 SU-Metal (Lead Singer) solo songs where she performs by herself} Babymetal - "Akatsuki" Live at Budokan 2014. (This is another Su-Metal solo songs) Coincidentally, there is an "Unfinished" (basically stripped down) version of "Akatsuki" Live at "Legend 1997" which was performed after this "Headbanger" performance. It is considered somewhat of a trilogy, including a song called "Babymetal Death" as the final song of the "Legend 1997" concert. Keep on diving into the Fox-Hole! 🦊🤘🦊🤘🦊🤘
great reaction guys this concert is a musical and theatrical masterpiece from start to finish and oh man what a finish which you should react to next Babymetal Death live legend 97 🦊
Good one, thanks! "Headbanger" is about a girl who attends to her first metal concert on the night of her 15th birthday and that causes a great impact on her. That is the age of the end of compulsory school in Japan and then, young people have to make some relevant decisions at that point. So, it's actually about coming on age and leaving the childhood behind with a hint of nostalgia. Not a biographical theme because this is a pretty early song and Su-metal performed it for the first time when she was only 14. This performance is incredible and not only because of the ladies and the Kami Band skills and precision (it's actually their thing) but also because of the crowd interaction. They are black belt in crowd control and that makes their live performances really amazing. I totally recommend everyone to see them live. It's quite an experience. 🤘🦊
The visual element is an integral part of Babymetal's performance, which is why we always recommend that people watch the live versions of their songs, as that is how they are intended to be experienced. Simply listening to a studio recording is only getting half the song because it lacks all the other parts that make Babymetal what they are.
Great reaction, welcome back and thanks for taking our suggestion.🤘🦊 'Headbanger' is one of their earliest songs, but still as good every time they play it.Obviously they don't always have the smoke cannons (but give a couple of 14 year olds smoke cannons to play with and you know there will be mayhem). On the tour last year during that part of the song Moa and Momoko have taken to having headbanging competitions with people in the front row ... and they won every time (especially Moa).🤘 'Headbanger' (or to give it its official title 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!') is a song about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday. 15 is significant in Japan as that is when compulsory education ends, so the girl is also realising she will never be treated as a child again and her first 15 years passed so quickly, so she is etching this special night of her 15th into her heart so she will never forget. As you know of course, Legend 1997 was the title of this concert - it was December 2013, Su-metal (lead singer) had her 16th birthday the day before - she was born in 1997. Yuimetal and Moametal were both still only 14 The crowd jumping in unison, pumping their fists, chanting etc take their cues from Yui and Moa (and more recently from Moa and Momoko). Leading the crowd, getting everybody involved is one of their main functions and one of the things that sets BABYMETAL apart from other bands. There are some very special live performances of 'Headbanger' ... at their Legend I concert in October 2012 the Kami Band made their very first appearance playing this song. At Legend D a year before this in 2012 on Su's 15th birthday and again at the start of Legend 1997 they performed a dance remix of 'Headbanger' (the Night of 15 Re-Mix). At concerts in 2014 on or near their own 15th birthdays Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for the second half of the song after Su handed them the mic and stand - she took their place in the choreo. Sadly we only have fancam videos of these two performances. The same thing happened in 2019 at the Legend M concert celebrating Moa's 20th birthday (with a change of lyric to "this special night of my 20th") since 20 is also the official age of majority in Japan. Just over a month ago they did the Legend MM concerts celebrating the new third member Momoko's 21st birthday - and the night before her 21st we were treated to her own version.🦊🤘 I am looking forward to seeing what song you see next (and yes, seeing is nearly as important as hearing when it comes to BABYMETAL, they are a visual treat and they always put on the best show).
Enjoyed it a lot. You two host a really nice, thoughtful reaction. And I'll say as a fan of Babymetal this is the type of reaction I appreciate. I can see your curiosity, sense a growing interest and the fact that seemingly this is a pretty off the beaten track experience for you both, you"re giving the girls a chance. And yeah early on Babymetal did not have the resources to afford a quality live band so they would perform to a backing track with a bunch of actores-known as the Babybones-miming musicians in the background. You'll notice them, for instance behind the girls on "Gimme Chocolate". Here-and I'm not sure if this was for the first time or not-the actual Kami band backed the girls on certain songs. Soon with their growing popularity and fame the days of the Babybones were ended ushering in the fabulous Kami band-seen here.
Awesome reaction to an awesome song. I always recommend people to check out "Rondo of Nightmare" with the "Mischiefs of Metal Gods" intro by the Kami Band.
Headbanger always goes down well with fans. If not bowing down to our queen ❤ you might end up getting into a headbanging competition with Moa and MoMo and losing 😁❤❤🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
_Hedoban hedoban!_ _Ban ban ban ban_ 🦊🤘🛐 Welcome back to the Foxhole. Much appreciated for following your BM journey with this suggestion. The genre is called "kawaii metal", kawaii means "cute". This song was part of the World Tour 2023/2024, everyone love this song and were having a blast with the girls headbanging real hard in the middle section instead of the usual bowing down on their knees or having fun with the cryo smoke gun. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. You'll find many more special versions celebrating their birthday, such recently last month when the new official member MomoMetal did it at Legend MM, Yokohama Arena celebrating her "20 Night", we called it "MomoBanger", and the day after her "21 Night" with another different song. This was at Legend 1997 (that's the title of this live concert referring to SuMetal birthyear) in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are: - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad - "Babymetal Death", be ready for this insane ending, Legend 1997 was an special live concert, and along with Legend 1999 celebrating Yui and MoaMetal birthday are tied together to represent the commitment of these girls with this group, a new rebirth. The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The statue behind is SuMetal resemblance and is a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice. The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan. Another thing that you don't see so much here in their live performance is, when YuiMetal and MoaMetal are having fun with cryo or smoke gun, the choreography on this part is with them down on their knees and doing the "dogeza hedoban" which is like bowing down back and forth summoning the metal spirit represented by the neckbrace while SuMetal is standing with the mic rise up and her relentless death stare, that's another moment we called -NotACult- The Kami Band here are insane set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, "kami" means roughly "god", they're wearing burial white robes and corpse face paint to represent those spiritual entities. They rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists). They are: - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. (R.I.P.), he's the one doing that sick solo. - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums tracks. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday". - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. During recent World Tour 2023/2024 they got another complete different set of musicians, we called them Western Kami Band, they've been playing with them since 2019, so the Kami Band musicians aren't official members and the girls are the only front women of this group. Next suggestion: - Rondo Of Nightmare with Mischief Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014 Kitsune up!🦊🤘🔥
There is still confusion and debate even amongst fans whether they should be classed as idols, band,/group/unit/act, etc. because they are neither typical idols nor a typical band. But IMO they should just be called a 'metal idol group'. They are metal idols off-stage (in Japan at least. They are just performers in the west), but on stage they are part of a band with the kami band, but with 2 dancers/crowd hypers. Close your eyes during a live concert and their untraditional structure becomes meaningless, they just sound like a unique metal band. But they can't be technically classed as a band in the traditional sense. Calling them a metal idol group incorporates everything they can be in one go and avoids the 'but are they really a band?' debate.
With other bands, they might bring out a cake or something for a band members Bday.... Koba (producer of Babymetal) makes it a whole damn concert...Headbanger is a coming of age song, so the girls all got to take a special part in it for their Bday (or day near their bday).... Yui did it once, Moa did it twice, and ofcourse recently we got Momometal getting her time to shine in Headbanger, and she rocked it out of the park (that's a hint that you should check it out) 😁😁😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
"Headbanger" is one of BM's earlier songs (it's on the 1st album) and is about a 15 year old girl going to a rock concert and losing herself in the mosh pit. She realizes that her carefree childhood will eventually be over and she vows to remember her feelings on that night. This concert was a transition for BM from basically and idol group performing to backing tracks to a full on metal band backed by the Kami Band and came a few months before their breaking out internationally at the UK 2014 Sonisphere festival. On special occasions the backing dancers/singers get to sing the lead and those performances are called Yuibangers, Moabangers or Momobangers. A very unique and amazing performance from BM and the Kami Band is "Tales of the Destinies" and I recommend you react to that. Talking about the feelings of youth, the Japanese call that "seishun" and that is a big theme for another Japanese female group called "Atarashii Gakko", The music is very different from BM, but the dynamism of the performance is at a similar level. Take a look at "Atarashii Gakko - Otonablue, The First Take".
I had getting my driver's license in my mind at the age of 16 , her oh I got a killer show to do. No biggie. Unreal.🤘😎🤘if you want young try iine the mv. Mind blowing
'I don't understand it but I don't care' pretty much sums it up. It shouldn't work but it does and it's glorious but could only have been done by a Japanese band. It wouldn't have worked anywhere else. I'm always amazed at both the level of stage presence and crowd interaction they had even at such young ages as well as the amount of energy they expend but I guess when you're in your early/mid teens you can do that. Recommendations: Megitsune official video Road Of Resistance live in Japan official BabyMetal Rondo of Nightmare (with mischiefs of god intro) if you want to see the band BABYMETAL // Catch Me If You Can if you want to see the band and it's also one of the heaviest instrumentally NB. this is a compilation video Karate official Metal Kingdom official which shows the level of their stage productions, yes I know it leans a lot on GOT but it's still wonderful
Dont know about early energy, but they ran all over the stage . The last time I saw them, the 2023/2024 world tour . They seem to have gotten more energy 😂😁🤘🏼🦊
Nice reaction to the awesome musical experience known as Baby Metal. There is nothing quite like them anywhere. As Lars Ulrich of Metallica said when Metallica first saw Baby Metal in concert at a festival, “We were astounded by their awesomeness.” I had the same reaction upon seeing both of their shows earlier this week in Frisco, where they kicked off their 2024 world tour outside of Japan. These ladies are so iconic, it was a real thrill to see them walk out onto the stage in their lovely kaleidoscopic outfits. Like beautiful songbirds in a violent storm, they delivered great performances both nights as the Kami Band raged metal mayhem behind them. The crowds each night were very expressive, and circle pits swirled throughout both shows. The choreography was beautiful, and of course, Queen Su’s vocals were fantastic. They ended their shows with “Headbanger” and “Road of Resistance.” You should definitely react to “Road of Resistance, Live in Japan.” It is the gold standard of early Baby Metal performances. And to see the performance that introduced Baby Metal to the world outside of Asia, check out “Ijime, Dame, Zettai, Live at Sonisphere 2014,” where they attacked and conquered a crowd of 65K British metal heads and had them chanting the band’s name. It is an amazing thing to see three Japanese schoolgirls in red tutus win over this tough UK metal crowd with an inspiring and very energetic performance of a really great song. And the musicianship level of the Kami Band in both of these performances is off the charts.
Great reaction, look forward to more! It's so fun getting to watch new listeners discover this great band, there is so much to discover. This concert (Legend 1997) is worth watching start to finish, it was formatted like an old school rock opera with a storyline start to finish, Headbanger was also the first song of the set - a house/mix version with an operatic introduction to kick off the story and show. The concert tells of a singer (Su-Metal) giving up her JPop future to become a rock goddess. If you ever watch a concert of theirs all the way through this is the one to watch imo just because it is truly unique; and it also features the song that went 100s of millions of views viral to get them international attention. In case you ever want it - this is the full set on youtube link for convenience ruclips.net/video/AbZcsD2KTTE/видео.html *edit* the original link had song 13 of the set blocked, this one is complete
Still waiting for y'all to react to their top 4, at least for me. 1.BMTH Kingslayer ft BabyMetal live in Tokyo 2. Megitsune music video 3. Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (you'll like this one, band is front and center) 4. Road of Resistance live in Japan
In Japan, children under 15 cannot go to concerts. The song talks about a girl who turns 15 and goes to her first metal concert. The name of the song and Many things that happen in it are a reference to what a concert by the metal gods XJAPAN .
Great reaction guys. Did you know that the girls do special Headbanger songs on their Birthday. Theses special ones let the other girls sing Headbanger . There is a Yui banger, a Moa banger and we just got one from Momo. You may have to put a filter over it because they sometimes get blocked because they are from Blue rays. They are definitely worth reacting to them. All the girls can sing. Enjoy
Only on their 15th and 20th birthdays. Momobanger!!!!! at LEGEND MM was special because it was performed on the last night that Momoko was 20 years old. Of course she was still an avenger, not a BABYMETAL member on her 20th birthday.
This is not the closing song. The closer is "Death" and I doubt you are ready for it. The Statue in the back is of Su Metal, and it is a tribute to Metallica, who they were the opening band for in Korea.
Great reaction. Their recent performances are undoubtedly great, but there is an emotion that can only be experienced in these times.
All this concert was incredible. Incredible girls, incredible musicians, incredible set, incredible fans.
If you like seeing more of the band next songs I recommend "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" (2015) from their official channel. This song is more like power metal, so you can see what the band is capable of.

Koba (producer of Babymetal) makes it a whole damn concert...Headbanger is a coming of age song, so the girls all got to take a special part in it for their Bday (or day near their bday).... Yui did it once, Moa did it twice, and ofcourse recently we got Momometal getting her time to shine in Headbanger, and she rocked it out of the park (that's a hint that you should check it out) 😁😁😁😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
Babymetal are always so much fun ❤️🦊🤘
MIND BLOWING!!!! HEDOBAN HEDOBAN!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🤘🦊🤘
Su is the Legend of 1997, Yui and Moa are the Legend of 1999.

Road of Resistance LIVE!!!

1.BMTH Kingslayer ft BabyMetal live in Tokyo
2. Megitsune music video
3. Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (you'll like this one, band is front and center)
4. Road of Resistance live in Japan
Babymetal is kawaii (kah-wah-ee) metal, Japanese for cute metal!
Road of Resistance live from Japan, next please!
😎😎😁🤘🤘🤘
This is not the closing song. The closer is "Death" and I doubt you are ready for it.
The Statue in the back is of Su Metal, and it is a tribute to Metallica, who they were the opening band for in Korea.
Good info, thanks! We were wondering about that statue
