The 46.3% ABV actually comes from old UK proof unit. ABV = 4 times proof divided by 7. The tradition of theses manufacturers used to be 81 proof, which gives you 81*4/7 = 46.3%. Talisker for example is 80 proof = 45.8%.
This sounds like a phenomenal Deanston! Their wine cask finishing seem to be well reviewed. There is a Deanston 2008 Olorosso 12 Cask Strength in my market around $130 CAD that has been tempting me as of late 😊. Also, don't know how I wasn't subscribed but I went ahead and fixed that problem haha 😅Cheers man 🥃
Yes I have heard of the Oloroso one and also a cask strength of a Bordeaux wine one which I'm very curious about as I'm not a massive fan of Oloroso sherry touch. Hahaha that's alright man and good timing as well as I was just about to report you to RUclips and block you 😂 Thanks for the support my man, I appreciate it 😁🥃
That's a good question! I would say the Glenallachie is more Christmas spices, roasted nuts and thick molasses where the Deanston is a bit more vibrant, red berries and tannic sour. Hope this helps 😃🥃
If you are so amazed with this, I can't imagine your comments on Deanston 18 :) Fabulous stuff and really good value; UK price is 70-75 pounds, worth every penny :) People love or hate Deanston, they really have a unique style. Slainte
Deanston is nearly always a safe bet imo. Their quality to price ratio is just right. Man, that one sounds tasty. Wine finishes are hit and miss for me...... another gem sir!
havent tried this, but got the deanston bourdeaux cask CS whisky, distillery exclusive, its fully matured in bordeaux cask, and it tastes phenomenal, had to take it with me from the distillery
@@thewhiskyenthusiast awesome, the staff is also very friendly, especially Brian, was very nice to us. They should have the bottling i guess, and you can try a small sip before buying in the shop.
Brilliant whisky isn't it! I'm not a Macallan fan so I don't actually go out and buy/try Macallans but a friend of mine gave me samples of the Classic Cut 2020 and 2021 and I thought they were OK, nothing special. So short answer is no, I have not tried it :)
I haven't tried that one but that is a ridiculous price for an 18! I've seen this one sold for those prices in certain airports! Thanks for the recommendation, I'm on it!
I like it. I'm gonna be honest though, I was more into it when I first opened it. As I had more time with the bottle I started feeling it was too muted compared to some other options. I will only replace it again if the price is ridiculously low.
You know what, I'm exactly where you're at right now. For a 35pound whisky, it's great but I'm not paying anything more for this. It's a sweet, mouth coating daily dram. Thanks for the input, cheers 🥃

Ah I didn't know that. Thank you for this information 😃🥃
will look for it in LHR Duty free next month
Happy hunting 🥃
I bought one of these years ago but haven’t opened it yet…😴
Do it now John, you won't regret it🥃
Just ordered it for £35 , on sale in online shop.
Boom! For that price, it is an absolute steal! Enjoy 🥃

Keep at it man!
Hey Matt, I will look for it in the LHR Duty Free next month.
Sounds like a nice jammy dram. You're so confident on this one, I'm going to have to find it Down Under.
It absolutely is a jammy dram and if you don't like it I'll take it off of your hands with pleasure 😃
Ordered mine a couple days ago and can't wait to pour, smell, and taste it in my ISO glass. How would you compare it to GlenAllachie 12?
That's a good question! I would say the Glenallachie is more Christmas spices, roasted nuts and thick molasses where the Deanston is a bit more vibrant, red berries and tannic sour. Hope this helps 😃🥃
Nice! Thank you, malt mate (Ralfy voice)@@thewhiskyenthusiast

Added to the basket! Thank you for the recommendation 😊 🥃

This is definitely a hit my man! Glad you said that, now I'm gonna go out and get more Deanstons to try 😃🥃

Ah man that sounds delicious! I'll be visiting the distillery in March so I hope they have some left till then :)

@@DayKlight Awesome thank you for this, looking more forward to my visit now 😃🥃
loved this one! great entry into wine finishes. im looking to buy the macallan classic cut 22, have you tried it?

Deanston 18 is really good value - c.£55-60 in the UK. Takes a while to get going but very solid bourbon matured spirit.
I haven't tried that one but that is a ridiculous price for an 18! I've seen this one sold for those prices in certain airports! Thanks for the recommendation, I'm on it!
Not anymore, it went up to 70-75 pounds. We should really stock some :)
Love the reaction brother!! Deanston is a distillery I have yet to explore and this sounds great!
Happy exploring my man, I think you'll be happy 😃
At first I thought it was only decent, as I got down the bottle I started to love it!
Oh yes it does grow more and more on you 😁 Glad you're enjoying it 🥃

You sure are one happy chappy with that dram. I'm a fan of Deanston too, but I haven't had that one. Cheers.
Yes sir 😃 you need to try it Al, it is fantastic! Cheers 🥃
