    Your videos are getting smoother and I like when you add the extra information by posting it on the screen. You know how to install, fix or modify anything and everything. Don't know why you learned that stuff and I didn't. I think if I ever wanted to own a motor home with a dish on it, the video would be very helpful. Of course, I'd be scared of drilling a hole in the roof and finding in the next rainstorm that I'd goofed!

      Thank you for your kind comments. I had a father who taught me how to do anything but a master of nothing.

    Thank you so much for posting this video. My husband and I, just bought this exact Dish ( only in white ) and Wally receiver. We had no idea how to install it. My husband is 68 years old, and only has so much patience left .

      I hope it works out as good for you as it has for us. On our last 3 week trip, we used it every day in a new spot for the lunch news and entertainment at night and it worked flawless. We were in the middle of the national forest without even a cell service and I managed to park between a couple trees with a view of the south and we had TV! The only drawback we discovered is if you get about 200 miles from home you lose your local stations and have to call dish to change your service address to the area you are in. I had to call just about every day. It was easier just to change it on "chat" on dish's website. Its no biggie but if anyone is watching at home they wont get the locals anymore. The alternative is to use your antenna for the locals. Also, Winegard has a great app for your phone to find the satellites with your phone camera. It really helps when you are finding a place to park. jack

    I have this same set up and I have a Ram Promaster 2500. I wan desperately to install this on my roof but having on the roof it seems would limit on n some cases. I put it on the roof, currently not permanently installed, and I often have to get up on a latter to point in the direction of the satellites. I use a great app the is spot on. So my original thought was if I could devise a “lazysusan” type base that would b permanent to the roof and put the dis Tailgater onto of that and again, devise a way to keep it secure while driving and Allow 4 manipulation once I’m parked and find the satellites (App: Winegard TV Signal Finder- it’ll find satillites 4 all major providers). My “idea” seems like it would b ideal, albeit a lot of extra work. So before I venture into my crazy idea I’d like to ask how your set up has been working 4 you. I realize the satellite inside the plastic housing moves in search but I don’t think it’s “Omni Directional” correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks for a great post I hope to hear back.

      Hey guys! My antenna has no problems finding and locking onto the sats. It does take a while, maybe 15-20 mins the first time I park. I haven't been on the roof since I installed it. Perhaps yours is defective? It usually has to find the sats twice a day. Once when I park for lunch ( I'm a news junkie) and then again when I am done driving for the day. It has always worked well though there has been a few times when I had to move to an open area to watch a show due to trees but that's not a problem either. I just move back to my camp site after watching
      .

    Good info..hey u think "jb" wet welding goop would work? I mounted it on my swivel TV mount..super strong...no drilling
    Thanks

      @Flicka20  4 года назад

      Sorry Ralph, Somehow I missed your post. How did the JB weld work? I use it a lot and you are right about its strength. My only thought would be that you would need to "ruff" up the paint under it to make a good bond. That would worry me about future rust.
      If I was to use it on the roof, I think I would run a safety cable to something else mounted on the roof just in case. I suppose the antenna wire could be that cable too.

      @@Flicka20 hi jack..the jb weld works good on small jobs..does not take the place of a real weld on big heavy stressed stuff.. but on light stuff, like .y swivel mount for my 42inch tv in my van..a about 25lbs..holding good

      Wish I knew the answer to that one William. I think you will have to call dish for that answer.. or Direct if it's there system.

    Trying to decide on which satellite system to go with. I'm pre-wired with coax only at the roof. I actually called Dish tech support as I had some questions regarding the King Dome. They told me that the King satellite only rotates 180 degrees and that the front of the coach will need to face south or south east or south west. If it's facing north the dish can not rotate far enough to get the south sky. Have you experienced this? Also, this dish has a single LNB and will only lock on to 1 satellite at a time. Has this been an issue for you? TIA

      I am not using the king but the playmaker instead ( think its winegard) and have never had a problem with it finding a signal no matter which way I parked. I'm not really sure if I have ever parked exactly due north though. I don't really care which angle we park as long as I have a view of the southern sky. I have a compass mounted on the dash for that. I also have an app on my phone that will show where the sats are in the sky if I have to park in trees where I may only have a small window to see them. We usually will locate it for lunch then again when we stop for the night so it's looking for satellites at least twice a day . It takes about 15 to 20 mins to lock on sometimes and makes a lot of clunking noise as it does. As far as the single LNB, sometimes when you switch channels it takes a few seconds to move to the next sat but this is not an issue. Most of the basic channels are on the same sat. WE use this system a lot and it still works well.

    Hey with dish antenna on roof..do u have to park facing a certain direction? Or does antenna find a signal on it's own? Thanks

    • @Flicka20
      @Flicka20  5 лет назад +1

      I can park just about any way as long as I have a clear view of the southern sky.. Sometimes that clear view ends up being a little sliver of sky between trees! I'm getting pretty good at knowing where those sats are hiding when I park.

    I'm homestly surprised they will.change your service address for local channels, I'm sure they will stop at some point. if you have a dish outdoor only account then you can change service address, however, if you have home service, and take a mobile dish and an add on wally, then there ar FCC rules about changing your service address for local channels. also, if your have dish outdoors only account then you can use the mydish app and change your service address and not have to call support.

      I was told by a dish rep, when I was changing addresses, that this procedure will eventually it will be available on their website.

    • @Flicka20
      @Flicka20  5 лет назад

      I wouldnt go without it now. It's so nice to have all your channels where ever you find yourself. The only problem I can see as a full timer is you are at the same site for weeks or months and if it doesn't have a clear view of the southern sky then you wont get a signal. Since we don't stay in a place more than a night or two its no biggie. Sometimes we have just driven out of the site to a parking lot in the camp to watch a show then back to the site for the night.

    I had this system, never worked correctly. Dish refunded my purchase. No real support, only 8am to 5pm Mon through Friday. You have to call the actual manufacturer for any real technical support. Will only track one satellite at a time.
    Must be better options. I use an external modem from T/Mobile.

      Just got back from a 10 day trip and the dish worked every day for me. The only time I get a tracking message is if I am behind a tree. Then I may only get one.
