    If you use a wally with your dish you can wire an ota anntena in using a diplexer and a OTA USB adapter from dish to locals for free. Also, Wally's are the replacement for a vip211. You do not need 3ghz cable, 2200 would works just fine, just make sure you have proper compression fittings on it and it's rg6

    I really like my Dish service have the winegard tailgater satellite receiver I have the ground tripod but prefer to just put the satellite on top of my toy hauler so there is no tripping hazard I always zip tie it to my air antenna in case of high winds

      I am working on a possible option for mounting the antenna on the ladder.

    One thought... I do hope you intend on utilizing the Satellite in the Desert, where the Cactus are about the height of a fire hydrant... I also hope you don't happen across one single solitary miniscule hanging branch (don't forget the long handled bolt cutter to remove that one, lonely only twig of a branch, as you will end up having to reposition the Dome again and again and again in order for the Dish to grab onto just one of the 110, 119 or 129 Western Arc Satellite(s)... On a final note,, if that is a Playmaker and you can figure out which part of the Dome should be directed at the Southern sky, please let me know. Dish can't even tell you! The Winegard Pathway X2 Auto Stationary Satelliite was the best I've ever had... That was intil someone decided to rip the Coax through the external to internal connector and yank it down to steal it. Never did see it again. Now, I'm stuck under a branch I can't reach, with a satellite system of no use NEED my ID Channel! I'm in Hell, I tell you... Best of luck!

      While it is true that trees can interfere with the signal, usually I can position the antenna on the roof of the RV if I have to, and get a good signal.
      The antenna is a King Tailgater. The manual sez that the handle of the antenna should point north. Even so, if you don't get the orientation correct, it will still work - it will just take a bit more time to align to the satellite.

    Thanks! For the last couple of years I'll just take portable hard drives loaded with movies and TV shows ripped from DVDs to watch. We have DirecTv at home and had wondered about Dish because as you said it seems Dish has the RV market set with it's real pay as you go program. Do you think you'll mount the dish as I've seen some do? Like on the ladder? I'm curious about your mattress, how has it been working? We are planning on getting a 5th wheel next spring and the 29RS is on the short list of models we like, also the Rockwood Signature Ultimate 5th wheels. I really like the opposing living area slides those have and it was great to see what you can't get into with the slides all in like your walkthrough video you did a few weeks ago showed. Our current travel trailer has a RV queen size Serta mattress, best stock RV mattress we've ever had in any RV, and we'd hoped the Grand Design would be good also, apparently not, so wondering how the swap went after the new one got all inflated after being vacuum packed.

      So far the Denver mattress is great. However, if you like your mattress and are doing a trade-in, you could probably have the dealer swap them out.
      So far, no plans to mount the dish antenna permanently.

      I had thought about it, but I thought the 29RS had a full length 80 inch queen and not the shorter 75 inch RV queen we have.

    • @RVProject
      @RVProject  8 лет назад

      Sort of. The brochure advertises the bed as 60x80, which is a full size queen, but the bed board it sits on is much shorter. In fact, when I measured it to make sure I got the correct replacement, it was drooping over the sides and end.
      I must have measured the length incorrectly, because when the new mattress came in, it was closer to flush with the end of the board. So in actuality, the old mattress was 60x80, but so cheap it sagged down on the end so we didn't get the full benefit of the longer mattress anyway (plus making harder to make the bed in the morning).
      At any rate, I am 6'2" and the shorter 75x80 still fits OK, and doesn't droop over the end, and also gives us a bit more room to walk around the bed. As well, when I sit on the edge of the bed, it supports me (before, I would slide off the end if I tried to sit there).
      I would not want it any shorter though.
      So in reality, I mistakenly replaced a full size queen with a mattress 5" shorter... but in the end, it was the better choice.

    I have a question for you about building a selector switch for my RV and the lithium ion batteries i have installed... The DC to DC controller... I installed one in our coach with 4 100 amp hour Lithium ion batteries . I ran it in line from the cable coming from the front battery to the buss so now it is in between the buss and the solenoid that engages when the RV is running to charge the batteries. the problem is when the RV is not running the house bus is no longer connected BECAUSE the C to DC charger is in line... so now the emergency switch will not function if i had a dead starter battery. The way i see it i have a couple options... Live with it and hope the house battery doesnt ever die and if it does get a jump from someone. OR i could install a selector swtich that would let me choose between the bHous Buss or the dc to dc charger, but if i do that and forget to switch it back it could fry the alternator... So i am thinking of bulding a switch with two battery isolators that would flip flop so when the RV is not running the house batteries are connected to the cable to the seneoid and when the RV is running the Cable feeds the DC to dc converter.... any Ideas?

      I am having a hard time visualizing what you are trying to accomplish. Go to my website RV-Project.Com, then to the "Resources" selection, then "Contact RV-Project.Com". From there you can send me an email directly without having to use RUclips comments as a method of contact.

    For 50 or less, you have very basic service, more like $115.00 a month for movies, it IS hd with Dish networks. If you're traveling for 3 days, it costs the same as a month.

    • @RVProject
      @RVProject  6 лет назад

      But it costs $7 per month for my Dish service as I simply added a receiver to my home service plan. For that $7, I get the same programming as I have on my home system.
      If you only have Dish service for your RV, then of course it is going to be as expensive as if you had the same channels on a home system.

    Could this be mounted on the roof with the cable hardwired in? Would also help with interference from people walking by...

    • @RVProject
      @RVProject  7 лет назад

      Yes, you can buy a roof-mount for the King Tailgater:
      amzn.to/2p08TKT
      You would also need to buy some kind of cable entry cover... something like this: amzn.to/2p09Liw

    The correct name is "DISH," "DISH HD," or "DISH NETWORK." The name "DISH NET" is actually their satellite INTERNET service, but what you're describing is for television.
