After the 1st 500 miles I keep it under 40% power and then change the oil. After 1500 miles (2000 miles OD) I change the oil. After 4000 miles total I change the oil and then revert to manufacturer’s guidelines. I change the brake fluid and transmission oil annually. I change the differential gear oil and coolant every 24 months. Is it overkill? Of course it is, but a new truck is $120k fully loaded and I keep my trucks for 10 years and 500,000 miles then sell. I due an engine rebuild at 350k.
Cummins in their user manual states it does not require break in period due to its construction, i stilled babied mine for the first 1k miles just incase.
Excellent information, that I am going to put to use! Looking forward to the next video to see what you have about the dpf. I do 60/40 city/highway driving and I seem to get about 5-15 % dpf fill every 2-4 days depending on traffic and weather conditions. Running arch oil winter additive now.Truck seems to regenerate every 500 miles right now. Have yet to do a operator controlled regeneration. Highest dpf % so far has been 85% .
Manufacturing does an interesting flushing and running process on a machine that turns the engines before installing. This is not heat cycling ofcourse, so you need to bake in your metals and wear them into their own grove. Also the electronics need to learn. Clutched need heat cycles.
Just because I’m curious, I understand and agree with what you said about the break in with the first 1000 miles. What about after that? Do you ever get your foot in the pedal on the highway to get it hot? I know these 6.7s clog like an old toilet in the manifolds with the EGR. Have you ever put your foot to the floor😂

You are right!! I have 431000 miles and I still don’t go over 2200 rpm.
Do a review/walk around on any of the 5th gen’s u have left please.
great video👍

Why size tires/wheels do you usually run on your personal rigs?

What do you think of a 23 limited ho 6.7 with 76k miles? Worth a buy and for how much?
On point.
I’ve seen ‘premium’ diesel at the pump. I use regular but what benefits does premium diesel offer?
Hey Paul when do you do the first oil change? My Manuel does not say, 2024 f250 6.8 gas
I have the same 6.8 in f350 , dealer said 5000 miles for first oil change, I’m changing at 1000 miles
@ that’s what I was thinking too
You’ll never get those first 1,000 miles back. Might as well change it every 200-300 at first.
