Yo this is Big D from Pratt Institute and I was there for this Solo Vibes Session. THIS IS NOT THE WHOLE SESSION it was a Huge Cipher with some of the Illest MC's in NYC!!!!!!. DJ Sincere why haven't you put this out yet???AL Skills was well known in NYC Underground Hip Hop Scene and was taking Eminem w/ Paul Rosenberg around to different events and shows to get heard as they were promoting his EP.I went there with (3 MC) Pumpkinhead aka PH (RIP he just past in June), Roc One, Big Ray aka Stop Rhyming aka Omega Rhed and DJ DP One.We parked and walked over to Baruch College and saw AL and he introduced Em and Paul also there was 2 MC's from the Bronx, can't remember there names but 1 dude wore camouflage. All of us had heard the EP and was telling Em it was dope.Security let us up and we met DJ Sincere and there was some other radio station cats. For like an hour the crews/teams were taking turns rapping, like AL & Em were rapping together for several turns and that's what DJ Sincere has put out. PH, Roc One and Big Ray rapped for several rounds. The cats for the BX rapped for several rounds. Then it turned into a bigger Cypher but some cats starting getting tired or running out of material or intimidated by the heat being spit by Em, Big Ray and PH.Towards the end it was Em and Big Ray trading Verses not battling but more so impressing each other. For the first hour, I was in the Radio Station Booth and then sat with Paul Rosenberg and DP in a room next to the booth listen to all these MC's spit crazy, that shit was dope. Few months later, Em met Dre and it was a amazing to have seen him then Raw Killing with other dope MCs and then become a Top MC. He was mad cool and humble, just another dude trying to do his thing but respected others in the scene.DJ Sincere or anyone who knows him, they need to release that whole Cypher Session. PH did his thing and my man Big Ray murdered it that night DJ DP One can confirm that. DJ DP One was always a chill cat and became a dope well respected DJ. PH recently passed away (RIP) but he was well known and respected, came up with Bad Seed, What What aka Jean Grea, Mos Def, Wordsworth & Punch, check his battles and music.Big Ray was originally from DC then went to Pratt in BK. He was a part of the Infinite Loop (Well known in DC), HOT 97 Battle Champ and put out an Omega Rhed Project with DJ RBI. Ray has made a great living as a ghost writer and ghost producer for most of your favorite rappers and producers......hehe, if you only knew how dirty the game really is.DJ SINCERE or SOMEONE WHO HAS ACCESS TO THE SOLO VIBES WHOLE SESSION, PLEASE RELEASE IT SO PH FANS AND NYC UHH FANS CAN HEAR THAT ILL NIGHT IN HIP HOP. Big D
Thank you for this man, you're putting a lot of stans onto a level of Hip-Hop culture they probably never knew about. The late 90s indie/underground/college radio scene was a really dope period for the culture, wish I was alive to be a part of it. Hope you're doing well bro!
