- This freestyle was held with the Outsidaz at Wetlands NYC, in 1997. This year, Em got into Scribble Jam and Rap Olympics (which he finished 2nd at both of the events). And also being discovered by Jimmy Iovine's agent.
The rest is history.

Apparently, this is the show where Fat Joe and Big Pun were in attendance and were blown away by Eminem. I wish there was a remastered edition of this, because you couldn’t have picked a better beat for Em’. I used to go hunting for old Eminem freestyles pre-1999 and never heard this before. With a popular poem” I’ve heard him do that a lot…and he could jump right in from there and just continue with something he’d already have up his sleeve. Not saying he couldn’t freestyle but it seems like he had multiple words that when he was going off the dome for real, he could segue right into his written freestyles. At this point in his life he’s doing whatever it took…and it worked.
