Most artists just show how to draw in anime style but very few point out the absolute need to do warmups for circle and line confidence, let alone repetition. This is exactly the advice I was looking for. Thank you.

@@TopHat_ok Never thought anyone would really be interested in my progress, never had the chance to look at this until now.
I'll admit, I'm not the best example to look at if you are looking for a case of linear growth as I am quite admittedly an extremely slow learner and I have absolutely zero "natural talent" when it comes to art or drawing in general. In fact I was mocked a lot growing up with how poorly I can draw, so I think its safe to say that I have a lot of work to do before I manage to make anything that I would feel comfortable showing off/posting.
To maybe answer in a more proper way though; the last year or so has not been too kind to me so there was definitely a lot less practice than I should have committed to, but hey life sucks sometimes! What I can say though is that I feel like I am more "aware" of shapes and such now when I look at every day objects, which is something I could never do before. When I look at things infront of me, I can break them down in simple shapes at their specific angle to deconstruct them into a sketch and build upon them from there. When I have an empty page open and I am trying to draw a head or maybe the coffee cup on my desk, I don't freeze up and become clueless as to what to do or start and can make that effort in piecing it together.
TLDR, have a long way to go and have much to learn still, and I think my age and my already extremely poor start is holding me back a bit. But I hope with more practice and dedication to nailing fundamentals I could maybe have a skill that I can be proud of and feel some kind of redemption.
Hope that is somewhat what you were looking to hear!

Hello, Ive just realized I've been doing the very basics wrong for my entire life.
I've asked around, apparently you're supposed to use your wrist and sometimes even your entire arm while drawing.
I've just been using 2 fingers for my entire life, only moving my wrist when where I want to write/draw is out of range.
it explains not only why my handwriting sucks and why I suck at drawing, but also why I dislike writing so much.
this video somehow just made me realise what's been holding me back. thank you for moving your hand when you draw...
I will return to this video after I relearn these absolute basics.

Thank you so much! Finally a truly beginner drawing guide!
Kinda nice to see even seasoned artists can't draw perfect circles or straight lines. I shouldn't be so hard on myself and just focus on the learning process you are showing here. And that slow sketching of a circle being a bad habit was nice to point out. I must remind myself to do it in one stroke.
    Thank you again.

Thank you so much Shidzilla. When I used to search for 'how to draw anime', I always used to just get those speedart-type videos where they draw from beginning to end and I didn't understand how to copy or what they did but you helped me with it. Now, I know why my side and semi-side faces looked totally different from those guys. Thank you again and I'll definitely make sure to practice those difficult faces on all my friends' shirts XD

I can see the wisdom in the warm-up techniques. Need to be able to draw things with relative accuracy in one stroke instead of going back and doing one line with multiple strokes and having it look messy. I feel like that is one of the pitfalls I have often found myself in over the years. I'm going to give this a shot and see how things pan out. I appreciate this video.

What Shidzilla sama forgets to mention (can't blame him. He's a pro, he probably forgot a thing or two about his newbie days) is how extremely slowly you need to start drawing these circles and lines. Once you nail the circle and continue nailing the circle your body goes "I have this hugeass stack of paper for drawing circles. Let's speed things up." and so it does.
When I tried drawing on Shidzilla sama's speed first and drew turds. No, seriously, it looks like... I think bunny turds?
When I slowed down extremely, I did get that nice circle, at which point my body sped up a little and I started drawing bunny turds again.
I sped down just a bit until I got the circle, at which point my body sped up again.
    Lesson: start ridiculously slow.
