521% for the APR calculation (I think). Hugely more than the advertised interest rate of 10% and you'd have to be very savvy to pick it up as a customer. This is not uncommon for short term loans that are annualised though. In Australia, we previously has caps on APR's of 48% for small and medium loans. Now we have a 20% start up fee plus 4% ongoing free as the typical limit. I'm always stunned at high up people who can't do the basic calcs or even articulate the concepts. Wonderful style of questioning emphasising the gross lack on understanding to not be able to ball park the answer
Wow at the cap of 48%. Due to the nature of the exponential formulas and their impact upon the economy, especially in terms of devaluing money, that is a high cap. The 4%, with a 20% start up, is way more reasonable, as it provides needed flexibility for policy change to maintain some stability in the economy, given the time gaps of a year just from the APR.

I understand the 'free' money causes additional complications, such as contributing to the current inflation spike, which as you correct state actually makes you poorer. It also contributed to the sub-prime housing market collapse in the 2000s, and even the S&L failures of the 1980s. However, when people, like Democrats, get major stuff incorrect, they can still get some stuff correct. And in this video Rep. Porter got stuff correct. Hopefully the point is clear that we all need the correct stuff without the incorrect stuff.

I never got child support because in 1973 when I was divorced, the courts didn’t really enforce child support laws. My support was $30/wk. at times that would have bought baby food or let me eat too. Finally, in 1988, I got a judge who could not believe that this man who now owned an electric company, could not pay child support. I cried, for all the years no one cared. He owed $22,000 and the judge who now followed new rules of “sharing” child support, made him pay me $200/mo toward the $22,000 BUT I had to pay my half of $100 back to him. Because of all the jobs I had, my body finally gave out at age 57. I had to go on disability until age 65. I am now going blind, lost the only home I had in the 2008 recession, and find myself living in a HUD subsidized apt. You can make changes for women in the future who might end up in my situation and for that reason, I ask you to please keep fighting for those without a voice so they have a happier ending. 521% for the APR calculation (I think). Hugely more than the advertised interest rate of 10% and you'd have to be very savvy to pick it up as a customer. This is not uncommon for short term loans that are annualised though. In Australia, we previously has caps on APR's of 48% for small and medium loans. Now we have a 20% start up fee plus 4% ongoing free as the typical limit.
I'm always stunned at high up people who can't do the basic calcs or even articulate the concepts. Wonderful style of questioning emphasising the gross lack on understanding to not be able to ball park the answer

Wow at the cap of 48%. Due to the nature of the exponential formulas and their impact upon the economy, especially in terms of devaluing money, that is a high cap. The 4%, with a 20% start up, is way more reasonable, as it provides needed flexibility for policy change to maintain some stability in the economy, given the time gaps of a year just from the APR.
@Mark Johnson Quite the opposite. I understand the 'free' money causes additional complications, such as contributing to the current inflation spike, which as you correct state actually makes you poorer. It also contributed to the sub-prime housing market collapse in the 2000s, and even the S&L failures of the 1980s. However, when people, like Democrats, get major stuff incorrect, they can still get some stuff correct. And in this video Rep. Porter got stuff correct. Hopefully the point is clear that we all need the correct stuff without the incorrect stuff.

I was a single mother working ,at times, 3 jobs to make ends meet. I am now 68. I was divorced with a child at age 22. I never got child support because in 1973 when I was divorced, the courts didn’t really enforce child support laws. My support was $30/wk. at times that would have bought baby food or let me eat too. Finally, in 1988, I got a judge who could not believe that this man who now owned an electric company, could not pay child support. I cried, for all the years no one cared. He owed $22,000 and the judge who now followed new rules of “sharing” child support, made him pay me $200/mo toward the $22,000 BUT I had to pay my half of $100 back to him. Because of all the jobs I had, my body finally gave out at age 57. I had to go on disability until age 65. I am now going blind, lost the only home I had in the 2008 recession, and find myself living in a HUD subsidized apt.
You can make changes for women in the future who might end up in my situation and for that reason, I ask you to please keep fighting for those without a voice so they have a happier ending. God bless you.
