  • This weeks video is all about showing you how I take a bulk lot and sort it in a way that allows me to create sets.
    Next week, I will show you how to create wanted lists and complete the sets that are being sorted in this video.

    I bought a 72 set 90s collection. 2 months ago. Most were taken apart completely. Lucky they gave me the instruction manuals so I had something to go off of.

      That is great. The instructions help to rebuild and to figure out what is in the lot. I haven’t done this in awhile and need to get back to it!

    Would you suggest finding all the pieces first before trying to rebuild a set? My kids build and eventually they get broken. I want them to rebuild them lol.

      Sorry for the late reply. A set is easier to build with all the parts first. I’ve tried to build incomplete sets and it’s frustrating because you might spend time looking for a part that isn’t there or you’ll get a second one of a part you think you don’t have when it ends up being in the pile for the set. I prefer to check them first and make sure they are 100% complete before I build

    Once I identify a set, I will take an index card, 3 x 5, and write the set number, set name, and other info on the card and place it in the bin. If I don’t have time to print a parts list, then I have the set number and don’t have to re-search for the set.

    I have a question about selling lego minifigures. Does i matter if a minifigure isnt original parts but it is the appropriate parts. Do have to mention this and ill it hurt value? Thanks

    • @leggomyjameso6082
      @leggomyjameso6082  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hello, if the minifigure is from a certain era it is important. For example, a new Lego helmet on a figure from the 80s wouldn’t be great. For the most part though if the figure is made out of the parts that it should have then it is okay. For example, a stormtrooper torso is the same for a lot of minifigures so it is okay to mix and match as long as it is correct. Check the figure parts on bricklink and be cautious for slight variations to design and color. I sometimes mention it if the part is a substitute or if I have a head piece that is slightly different than what it is listed as on bricklink (hollow stud vs blocked open stud heads) I hope this helps

    I just found you. I have a massive Lego project on my hands. I tried to say to my partner don't mix our son's new Lego in with old stuff and break it all up, or it will take years to figure out what goes with what. But he did 😢 It's so great hearing you say in the video don't do that.
    So now my project is building set when he used 2022 Lego to rebuild his 80s sets. And trying to make it so the 2022 set doesn't have obvious faded pieces in it. Living a nightmare. Thank you for making videos like this. It's my lone project now. Determined for my little boy to be able to build his sets again!

    • @leggomyjameso6082
      @leggomyjameso6082  6 месяцев назад +1

      Good luck with that!! You will be able to complete it in time. I find a little bit of sorting each day when I have lots like this is helpful. Sort it out into categories and then you can recreate the sets from there. I use bright lights to quickly see if there is any fading or to keep old parts separate from new parts. Best of luck to you:)

      At most he should have taken apart the sets and separated them into bags for each set, so if your son ever wanted to rebuild the sets he would have a very easy time doing so

      @@leggomyjameso6082thank you James. Is by part type best in this situation? Really it's an 6 draw and two bigger tubs. I'd estimate 20,000 pieces maybe for just the new stuff I want to rebuild.
      Then for good measure the Lego Mario I asked to me kept separate I saw has now been all broken up and mixed in. I could cry! 😭

      Give it a go and just try a little a day and eventually the lot will be done. I try and sort an hour a day after work when I have lots like this. Then in a few days it’s sorted and in a few more it’s put into sets:)

    So how are you sourcing lots like this

    • @leggomyjameso6082
      @leggomyjameso6082  2 года назад

      Hi, I get many lots through eBay auctions, yard sales, sometimes thrift stores, and then people who know I love Lego and reach out to me saying they have a collection to sell (Usually when there children grow out of them).

  • @gamerxd4338
    @gamerxd4338 8 месяцев назад

    What if the loose bulk doesn’t have that much unique or distinctive pieces?

    • @leggomyjameso6082
      @leggomyjameso6082  6 месяцев назад

      Try and sort it to find the printed parts, figures, or items that look different then you can search those. If you have none of those you will need to sort it and then look for sets with 6 black 2x2s or any random parts like that to try and find what sets you have. It will be harder but it’s possible. If there are large plates, I look for sets that had those too

    A little bit longer intro will boost watch hours. Or so I've heard.

    • @mrjasonjneal
      @mrjasonjneal 2 года назад +2

      @@TwoKarrots Me. I always watch the intro. Some are longer than others, but it is just math. If 30 seconds is added to the intro of every video, math tells me there would be more watch hours. Of course I am bad at Math. Maybe I just love the train and want more. For what it's worth. Thanks for chronicling your journey!

    • @leggomyjameso6082

      That’s a creative concept. I never thought of that. My intro is usually 5-8 seconds depending on what one I choose for the video. I can’t make this any longer but when I make another train build I can!
