Actually, it goes even DEEPER that what Donalds was talking about. CRT comes out of Critical Theory, an idea conceived by Max Horkheimer, part of the Frankfurt group, who are self proclaimed Marxists. He came to the US in the early thirties and decided that the traditional Marxism, the class struggle, may not be as effective in the US and other western nations so he came up with the idea that power was at the root of all struggles in history.
Years later, in the 1980s, a group of Marxists gathered together in an old nunnery in Madison Wisconsin, to discuss how race was a big part of this power struggle. A member of that group, Kimberly Crenshaw, proposed the name "Critical Race Theory", paying homage to Max Horkheimer's ideas.....but it doesn't stop there.
There's a guy by the name of Paolo Friere, a Brazilian educator and a Marxist, who believed that social change could be achieved through an integration of education and activist ideas through an proposal called "Praxis" or practical application. He outlined it in his writings, one of which is the book "Education for Critical Consciousness". Notice how the word "critical" is a part of that title, pointing Horkheimer's philosophy. This book is required reading in many education programs for teachers. It's integrating critical thought into the education system in a way that the things being taught are through the lens of this new way of this new look Marxism.
Reid is correct. It's not being taught as subject matter. It's even more insidious than that. It's become a part of how history, geography, literature and even math and science is taught to primary, secondary and university level students. This is done in the same way Christian schools teach religion, integrating it in all subject manner in a covert manner.
The receipts are there. Reid cut Donalds off before he could do any meaningful explanation of what he meant. She didn't want to hear it. In a way it's how the press presents Critical Theory. You might call it "Critical Media Theory".
I don't see it that way. This racist white nationalist boot kisser tried to tell a lie and she didn't allow him to do so on her show. Critical race theory is not taught in public schools it is a graduate-level course of study.
The question becomes why would racist white nationalist want their Satanic history in this country exposed? The answer is they don't want it exposed at any level in the educational system. In fact, they don't want true American history ever taught in American public schools. Can't much blame racist when the history is full of the torture and murder of successful black people. They would have to acknowledge all the beautiful black middle-class communities that were literally wiped off the face of the map because they were successful.
I'm sure Governor DeSantis doesn't want people reading about black babies being tied to ropes and used as bait to catch alligators in the Florida Everglades.

I’m in CA and went back to college in 2021 to finish my AA degree. I took speech, English and Ethnic films. Ethnic studies is a graduation requirement. But let me assure you, each class incorporated how racist and hateful white america is. An entire lesson about it in speech, with a chapter in our textbook using a Trump speech as an example of racism, practice test questions in English with white privilege as the answer, and don’t get me started on ethnic films. Basically took each ethnic group and listed all of the ways Hollywood is racist towards them. I’m not saying there aren’t major lessons to be learned and that racism wasn’t prevalent. My friends daughter failed a class because she refused to write an essay explaining her white privilege and it’s affects. Complete lunacy, total brainwash that is intent on keeping us divided.

As someone living outside the USA and occasionally following the chaos caused by CRT, I am left wondering about the future and education. For example might it be that states where CRT is banned at schools, will end up having a higher level of education and therefore produce a more capable future workforce.
Which employer interested in quality of service, better products and greater profits would willingly employ someone that was educated in a CRT state?

This was an interview, not a debate. No one "got the better of" the other.
Conservatives have tried to reduce CRT down to anything taught about the racist footprint of the country's history.
CRT is a graduate level study of how the social construct of race is systemically imbedded into the establishment of our laws and institutions to the effect of inherent inequality.
This is not in the K-12 curriculum of any public school district in the U.S., and conservatives like Byron Donalds can't cite a single example of such of thing. The recourse is the aforementioned tact of imprecise reductionism.
