To be fair, Chris Evans has always been a schlocky kind of guy. His roots are in comedy and television. Superheroes movies are right up his alley. He’s not an extremely diverse dramatic actor. But he is very charismatic and works well as B tier action/comedy star. Stuff like the Gray Man works for him in my opinion. Doesn’t have to carry the load, just have fun.
It’s a similar thing I feel with Tom Holland, I have to wonder if it’s just bad agents? Tom should have a big thing going for him with The Odyssey now but it’s sad to see
I think the difference is that we HAVE seen it with Evans. He is in dramatic roles that turn out great. Holland does the boyish charm thing very well but we’ve yet to see proof that he can lead a “serious” movie and hold his own
Anyone else kind of disappointed with the cast for Nolan's Odyssey so far? Personally, I'm tired of Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anya Taylor Joy and Timothee Chalamet. They're good actors but they feel so oversaturated imo. I wish we had new new people or older hidden gem actors who have yet to make the leap to the A list.
It’s because Chris Evans doesn’t even want to act anymore. He originally said the Marvel movies would be it for him and that he wanted to get into directing
Evans was always going to go back to MCU. I remember an article a long time ago that Evans would read scripts and alot of his friends would say that most of them were bad but he still wanted to do alot of those movies.
He seems like a nice guy but given the mediocrity of his pre MCU work he’d have been smart to keep playing Steve and just ask for a long break if needed.
I find this so silly. You have a gorgeous man, that can act, AND has a boatload of money living rent free in your head. He's happy. How is being famous making millions of dollars depressing?
“That’s depressing.” So what? It’s his career, and more importantly, his life to decide which direction he wants to go next. I understand their position but it reads “dance monkey dance” at this point. He doesn’t owe us anything.
When “Knives Out” came out, I thought, “Here we go, the Chris Evans run begins!”

I mean Defending Jacob is right there.
Chris Evan’s agent is terrible. Get that man a proper movie.
I couldn’t agree more. Things could turn around for him. He’s got a new movie by Ethan Coen, Celine Song and Romain Garvas.

He probably sleeps on a pile of money tbh

Rent free? Dude this is a podcast literally about nothing but movies.
It's just a matter of wanting to see a talented person make use of his ability instead of squandering it in unwatchable garbage.
@@KW-vy1rfthey must've missed defending Jacob then.
It would be funny if it was old steve

No mention of Knives Out?
Incorrect
She literally just mentioned Knives Out
55 second long short, she mentions it 30 seconds in, viewer can't even pay attention for that long to catch it. We are lost.
