    I.ve been living in Mongolia for 2 years now and been overlanding every summer for about 8 weeks. It's my favorite country to do so by far. Above Australia for me personally. I hope you are going to other parts of the country than the Gobi desert which is in a way the main tourist trap of Mongolia. That doesn't mean it's bad, but the experience in other parts of the country is very different. Gobi is geared towards tourism, other parts aren't (except of Khakhorin). But, I must say it's a very good destination as an introduction to Mongolia. But, if you do come for another trip, much more preperation would be required. You will have to be more self sufficient. Be able to get yourself out of tricky situations. Choice of tyres for example (mud and grass will be your enemy, but often you get AT tyres), having enough water and fuel. Things like that. Anyways, that is a different topic for your next trip. I haven't watched the video yet, as my wife also wants to see this. Thank you for visiting this country.

    I've been to Mongolia several times and can attest, Priuses are all over the place. Have seen them on roads where I never would have taken them! The Russian UAX buses/cars are all over the place too, fun, but not that comfortable. Lexus GX are used by many touring companies.
    Thank you for sharing your adventure! Great to see you in Mongolia!

    Andrew, and Gwen in Mongolia, what an epic adventure to watch on a Saturday evening with dinner, this is a country i would love to visit someday myself, Andrew you certainly are a gifted story teller and videographer, it is all on point and a little chuckle that Paul Marsh is jealous of your trip to Mongolia, vast open plains sounds like what North America was like almost 200 years ago, to live as your previous generations have is a blessing in its own way, you don't lose your culture like so many have in this world, Gwen the little gypsy at heart and home right now, awesome to see that your fulfilling a place on your bucket list Andrew, this series on Mongolia is going to be special in many different ways, exciting ❤

    Love the editing boet - I really like Mongolian music too. The throat singing kind. I sing to my wife in my sleep like that every night. But seriously I have always wanted to go there. It liooks like miles of nothingness, but that appeals to me. Big sky country.

    I heard from a motorcycle world traveler that Toyota has a factory in Mongolia where they build the Prius. They took note of the juxtaposition of culture, and tradition mixed with modern technology. In other words, it was quite common to drive past these nomadic camps where you were likely to see a Yurt with a satellite dish mounted, and a Prius parked alongside.
    Mongolia really is a beautiful place. It is telling, about the people, that their country is sandwiched between two countries, Russia, and China, both with very strong cultural identities and a penchant towards forcible assimilation of their neighbors, and yet the Mongolian people have retained their own unique cultural identity.

    • @QnA22
      @QnA22 Месяц назад

      No, there is no Prius factory in Mongolia. In fact, there is barely any manufacturing taking place at all. Definitely no High Tech. However, I can see how your friend may have been confused in thinking so. Almost every other car is a Prius. Maybe 95%. The rest is Land Cruiser and then 1% other. Unfortunately many Priuses are from the Japanese 2nd hand market. Meaning, the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Therefore 70% of accidents are caused by these cars.

    Epic adventure ASPW! You always have such great composition in your establishing shots. Nice to see a 4Runner being used as an overland rig. The 4th gen 4Runner is the same as the Lexus GX you used in Oregon. I should probably start using my TRD Pro as an overland instead of a daily driver.

    Rofl.. When you said you might get lucky tonight, and Gwynn laughed.. I wonder?
    Honestly, I have never seen one of your vlogs, where Gwynn was so engrossed by another culture, she is like a child in a lolly shop mate. Gwynn is keen to try words in Mongolian, and keen to try the different foods. Can't wait to see the rest of this trip ASPW Well done mate. Will you go back again, if the opportunity arises? ... Russian Luaz vehicles go anywhere Andrew. You should get one mate, do a review on it.
    Safe journeys, take care, stay safe. PS. Gwynn is AWESOME! 😉

    We visited Mongolia in Oct 2022, spent 8 days on horseback in the Gorkhi Terelj national park, just outside UB. (The original thought was to overland in a truck, but then we discovered the opportunity to ride Mongolian horses and were smitten). But we also saw lots of Priuses. Just like Australia and NZ, Mongolia takes advantage of the strong export market of older second hand cars from Japan. They like Priuses because there is basically zero tax on imported hybrids. So all of the Priuses you saw were Japan-market RHD, despite Mongolia being a LHD country.
