    This game series is the first for me to show Marines and others turning to Chaos. Most warhammer games just show one or two people turning but this series in particular shows entire legions and armies turning. I must admit, I find it fascinating to see the results and otherworldly in hearing Imperial Guardsmen or Space Marines who would normally praise the God emperor, but now openly praise the dark powers.

      it's the same thing in many organisations in real life. You're all supposed to be working for the same goal, the same organisation, but higher ups have their own designs, and force everyone into different camps, and the victims are those who don't get wise to it and end up in neither camp, destroyed by both parties.
      It's like all political parties, collectively pushing for the same ends but everyone's stabbing each other in the back, who are you loyal to, who do you know to trust, since everyone wears the same uniform or badge.

    I know this game old but chaos rising is confusing when it comes to what is the true ending, like who actually is the betrayer or what happened to our force commander, hell the fact that tarkus cyrus and martellus and jonah are all in retribution while avitus and thaddus are no where to be seen, I did always have a theory that avitus was the betrayer but that doesn't explain what happened to thaddus

    • @Fourtytwo4242

      It believed the banished ending is the canon ending, the force commander was sent off to the eye of terror to make penance for his failure to stop the corruption from taking hold of his men (Avitus), Thaddus in turn being a young loyal marine most likely followed his commander on his crusade. After what happened at Cadia chances are that the force commander is either dead or is slowly being overrun by chaos forces, a tragic end to a great hero of the imperium.

      I believe is *was* confirmed that Avitus is the official traitor. It makes the most sense if you think about it. On the outside he seems like a hardened warrior, eager to kill the Emperor's enemies endlessly, but on the inside, he's gotten sick of carnage and bloodshed, seeing all his brothers die for a war that will never end. And when he finds out there's a heretic running the chapter, he feels that the only way his brothers will see the truth is if he dies to prove a point.

Tarkus says he was on Kronus with the Traitor, seeing as the only other two who were on Kronus we know of by name are Avitus and Davian Thule (Emperor Rest his Soul) it must be Avitus. Thaddeus was either not recruited or didn't serve on Kronus, while Cyrus was training scouts for Indrick Boreales failed Campaign in the Kaurava System/Serving In the Deathwatch.

    • @musafawundu6718
      @musafawundu6718 6 лет назад +8

      Avitus is the Traitor. In DOW2 Retribution, after Kyras fully reveals himself to being corrupted by Chaos to Diomedes, Diomedes and the Blood Ravens with him are teleported to a Space Hulk. There, Cyrus asks him what they are to do next. Diomedes is TOTALLY despondent and says nothing, and he laments almost tearfully about having been manipulated by a heretic for centuries and that the Chapter's History has been full of lies. That is when 'The Ancient', who never spoke and was masked so far through the game, breaks his silence and reveals himself to be Tarkus. He warns Diomedes about falling into dispair and he narrates the story of a Space Marine with whom he served on Kronus and became very strong friends falling into dispair and then to Chaos and he, Tarkus, having to kill him. He says that he will not allow that to happen again with Diomedes and he will kill him if he has to and he poignantly reminds him that regardless of what the nature of their Chapter is, they are ultimately Space Marines and they can only be relieved from duty by the Emperor in their service to the Imperium and humanity. This 'GET YOURSELF TOGETHER MAN' talk from Tarkus reinstills fervour and duty in Diomedes, turning him a full 180 degrees in attitude, ans Diomedes then vows to lead the loyalist Blood Ravens to victory against Kyras.
      In DOW2, the first one, not the expansion, it is mentioning in the cutscenes that Avitus and Tarkus served on Kronus together, in a campaign that the Blood Ravens won led by Captain Davian Thule. At that time, Thaddeus was either too young or probably not even born, but he certainly wasn't a Space Marine. Cyrus did not serve on Kronus as he had been seconded to Deathwatch.
      From all these narrations and the events of DOW2, Chaos Rising, and Retribution, given Avitus' absence and the fact that Techmarine Martellus and Jonah Orion are alive and fighting for the Blood Ravens in Retribution, it is clear that Avitus is the canon traitor of Chaos Rising.
      What is not clear is the fate of Thaddeus and Force Commander Aramus. From the events of Retribution it is certain that the endings of Chaos Rising in which he either gains too much corruption to either flee and join the Black Legion or be executed by Angelo's are not canon. The other ending of him being sent on a 100 Year Long Crusade of Absolution to redeem himself of corruption (probably along with Thaddeus), or being promoted as Captain of the 4th Company to take the place of the now Dreadnought Davian Thule, or the High Purity ending are much more likely. Whatever the case, there is no mention of Thaddeus or FC Aramus in Retribution. As to the reason why Tarkus and Cyrus who were serving under FC Aramus in DOW2 and Chaos Rising are serving under Diomedies in Retribution is because Gabriel Angelos had assigned them to do so.
      In short Avitus is the cannon traitor.

      Give Cyrus the Sniper, and both sets of explosives, the timed ones he throws, and the ones that take several seconds to place and can be remotely detonated. Give your force commander the jump pack. Leave all of your units except Cyrus at the start point and use Cyrus to knock out most of the generators and watch out for:
      A)the dreadnaught in the middle of the map that goes back and forth but will retreat with the generators destruction, B)the squad of scouts just before the bridges in the middle that go back and forth and won't flee with the rest (you have time it when you move your forces across one of those bridges to avoid the scouts), and C) the squad of assault marines that jump around the map in a kind of star pattern. Watch them for a while and you'll get to know how long you have between their jumps.
      Once Cyrus has taken out the generators, use your commander to jump pack up to the ledge above, between the mine entrance (near your squads) and the 2 bridges, here there is another generator, be careful not to jump when the assault marines are coming. Take this out and jump back down as quick as you can. Again, move your commander to the middle area and watch out for the assault squad jumping here towards the southern end. When you think it's safe, have him jump across the southern ravine and destroy the generator there. Now the assault squad won't bother you as you move your squads over to Galen's area (also avoiding the scouts at the bridges remember).
      Now you can easily take out Galen and his heretical Terminators.
      Again you'll need Cyrus, make sure you have some charges left (boxes are scattered across the map so unless you wasted most of them, you should be fine) leave your squads where Galen fell, and take Cyrus up to Diomedes position. Be careful as the Captain will spot you planting a charge and his Terminators will jump you or fling missiles your way so it's best to be quick or try planting the explosives towards the back of the command structure. If you can, snipe the Terminators one by one, keep running away until safe, then return if needs be. If Diomedes if too close to the command, you can reveal yourself and lure him away before fleeing.
      I know that's a long explanation, but hope it helps!

    BDC, as far as accumulating Corruption and earning mission endings. Does it matter if you kill Blood Ravens but stay below the objective limit? Or can you not kill anyone at all? In other words if you kill 2/10 Blood Ravens do you still get corrupt or not since the limit wasn't reached?

    @aragax Well Avitus isn't so good. He's like half a step away from full blown Chaos heresy. Watch BDCs video where he kills Diomedes, he's borderline like that 4 out of 5 times. LAWLZA!!! So your siding with the good guys plus a minor psychotic dude. Hahahaha!

    The good ending is canon. Branded a renegade by Kyras (confirmed), not able to convince Diomedes (confirmed) but didn't kill him (confirmed since you play Diomedes in Ret) and still loyal to the chapter. There is no proof but it is strongly indicated that the good ending is indeed canon (note good ending=/=100% pure ending).

    • @greypilgrim228
      @greypilgrim228 8 лет назад +3

      Thaddeus and the commander are not there in retribution, so it might be that the lesser good ending is cannon, generally good but minor corruption by chaos, force commander and Thaddeus sent on crusade to repent.
