Sadly, no it won't work for me.
I would like all analog channels of 5.1 uncompressed. I have a gig pa system for amps and speakers so don't need a receiver.
It seems that there aren't any products that do what I want...

I stumbled upon this video randomly while googling for an audio extractor with multiple inputs and I struck gold.
Because the reason I was looking for one is that I want to connect multiple consoles to a monitor and I had no clue if connecting them to a HDMI switch first and then the switch to the extractor would still work.
But it looks like it does, which not only answers my question but also saves me time looking for a probably pricier alternative.
    Cheers.

I didn't realise until watching your video that I have my gear hooked up wrong, with loads of optical cables trailing all over the place when I really only needed the one as you demonstrated here. I already had 4k switcher, and have now just ordered myself the Oriel Optical Adapter. It will be nice having all my consoles going through just the one optical cable. Thank you for making this video! I’m glad I found this video. I recently got a LG monitor. I was a bit disappointed about the no built in speakers. My monitor does have a headphone out. I got some speakers but I kinda don’t want to rely on that connection. I had to put audio at loudest just to hear the speakers. Your steps are very simple and easy to follow. Make sure you buy one with HDR support. Now there are extractors that allow for variable refresh rates and up to 8k support. These are fairly expensive so get what you think you'll need for your current setup unless you plan to upgrade your monitor to Dolby vision which you will need an extractor that supports that. While this RUclips tech support gave you some hope he left out important information which I included. I hope this helps.

First I couldn’t find the hdmi port on the PlayStation I’m going to have to look again. Then I bought a sound bar which also has an hdmi cord so there is not enough spots on the audio extractor for me to connect the monitor sound bar and PlayStation I’ve been trying to rework this for days 🤨I might just have to let it go and buy a TV for it.

Have you ever measured the influence of your devices in regards of input lag (button to display delay?) Or is there anybody who knows results about this?

I haven’t and there’s such a small percentage of people who would even know the difference. The best way is to buy top of the line with all the proper outputs and inputs.

Subscribed! Great video. Super concise. Does the extractor support volume control, provided of course that the source does too? Perhaps that requires a dac....I want to use it coming from a tv.

It not for output from a TV it’s for inputs, you may need this ruclips.net/video/3htbzSAjt_s/видео.html

I’ve done everything the exact same you did. I have my hdmi splitter ran to the extractor, then the extractor ran to the monitor and my speakers hooked directly into the extractor. No sound.

@@TechSteveI’m an idiot. They are now, but they have a high pitched squeak behind the audio. I think it’s just cheap speakers. But I got sound now. Thanks!

My problem is I have a sound bar with a optical port + a place for a usb 5v port. On my tv I don't have a optical port but have a USB 5v port and some hdmi ports. On my other TV it had the optical ports so all worked fine with the same type soundboard. Can I use a hdmi/optical audio converter to make TV no 2 work properly. Your converter looks like that is what I need, a place to plug the hdmi and a place for the optical cable. Im not electronic buzzed at all. I sure would appreciate a come back on this. By the way it's a tcl TV and Wohome soundbar

will this allow me to control the audio hooked up to speakers with just the tv remote? or do you know of another converter that would?

    • @TechSteve
      @TechSteve  3 года назад

Nope, fiber optics is light that doesn’t allow you to control, you can only control volume HDMI ARC or headphone outputs on some TVs

I’m doing this soley so I don’t have to rely on my LG monitor aux port. Causes lots of interference through that port.
