I'm kind of late coming to this series, almost done with season two and I'm really enjoying it. I didn't know much about the series when I started watching it, I thought it was just about Cobra Kai so I was pleasantly surprised to see Ralph Macchio's character enter the story. I have to be honest and say that the writing could be a lot better, some of the character motivations seem to be weakly set up and just put in there for the sake of repeating some scenes from the original movies. Since the show is supposed to be light hearted though, I didn't take it too seriously and just went with the story and I'm enjoying it. One thing that I think is being handled really well is how the old movie is worked into this new series, the nostalgic moments are being handled really nicely, the parallel lines between new and old are really good because I feel like I'm reliving the old movies in a a new way. The way that the series uses the original movies canon so much and builds on it is something I dearly love, I feel almost like I'm getting a deeper glimpse into the characters now and the characters then. That's probably the strongest thing that keeps me watching. What I find kind of amazing is that although many of the original actors look quite different now, I catch brief glimpses of their younger selves shining though. Ralph Macchio has a way of moving and talking that's so much like when he was younger that it further lends to a feeling of continuation of the original movies. William Zabka every now and then says something that sounds almost exactly like himself in the original movie, particular when he says QUIET or does his kiai. I was so happy to see Randee Heller as Daniel's mum again, she also sounds the same to me as she did in the originals. It was good to see Martin Kove as Kreese again. It was really cool seeing Johnny's gang together reflecting on Cobra Kai and Kreese. I like how the series acknowledges the good parts of the original movies and also pokes fun at itself. The series writing seems to heavily emphasise the simpler fun, colour and energy of the 80's. It also has fun with some of the dorky aspects and isn't afraid to make fun of the simplistic style of the 80's while at the same time celebrating it, instead of judging it negatively through a modern lens. I enjoy how the series sort of has moments where it reviews scenes from the original movies, gives it a modern take and adds to the depth whilst renewing the story. At the point that I'm up to, I'm starting to wonder if Elisabeth Shue will come back as well. Don't spoil it for me, I'm in the middle of watching it.
I read that Ralph, Billy and Pat Morita DID NOT know anything about Karate prior to making the movie in 1984. I believe that statement when it comes to Ralph and Pat Morita, but I'm very surprised to learn Zabka had no background. They said he had wrestling background, but not Karate. Which means he did an amazing job learning on the fly because his form was great, especially his round-house. It's quite surprising.
Zabka really got into it whereas the others didn't. Zabka has a black belt and has continued to practice Karate in his life. Hence why his fights in the first season aren't doubles with cut aways.
Back in 1985 I would see Mr. Zabka at what must have been our mutual favorite restaurant in Studio City: Genmai Sushi. I *DID NOT* recognize him! God knows he *looked* like someone who should be in pictures----very handsome man----but I didn't connect him with his roles because, off-screen, he *SMILED* a lot. Had he been that angry frowning guy I would have known it was him!

i find myself waiting for them to transform into power rangers...
Yoooo i thought i was the only one deadass!!!! LMAO!!
Omw me too!! I keep thinking they could be the cast of Power Rangers!
I loved it when Johnny said www period cobraki period com🤣
This might be my favorite interview
When the students did the hissing during training and then Kreese’s reaction 💀💀
"Who is this?, Is this a prank call?" Best line in the series. Quiet!
Gender what? Is this a prank call?
What's great is that you can find a bit of yourself in so many characters
❤Love these guys..it is written so well..It would be really nice if the show gave William Zabka the 2009 Challenger.. like they gave Ralph the yellow Ford Convertible..
This was a good interview well cut 👍 & straight to the point 🔥
I think you need to elaborate a bit more.
Johnny.looks pretty good God damn
Absolutely fn amazing. Love the show and these guys. The legacy lives forever. 💕❤️
The episode with the old Cobra Kai reunion touched the sublime.
Get him a body bag! Yeah!
Ralph likes everything about him. Johnny is the man tho
My favourite scene will always be when William Zabka spits out the sushi. But anything eith Williamin it will always be a winner for me ❤❤❤
Back in 1985 I would see Mr.
Additional ☑️ confirmation.
[ C/o the many cast 🎬✨ v% 'Rose Theatre'🇬🇧 ],

I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!
I absolutely love this show faithful to the end
Damn, I was really hoping to hear his technique to how he says “Quiet!”
KWAI!!!! (it's not just a river in China)
Johnny: has a special way of saying QUIET.
Me when i see dumb comments.
QUIET
Ralph Macchio was my boyfriend as a kid and in my dreams. Thank you for interviewing these two great guys. I love Johnny's character learning the ropes of technology. He's a sweetheart but asshole can be a hard habit to break. Zabka makes it heartwarmingly funny. "Send it to the internet!" #hashbrown Just finished watching episode 5 season 3 and cried like a baby. Much love to whoever decided to revise this childhood gem and bring it to TV so we can enjoy it longer. And much respect for including all the actors/major characters and @ just the right time. The soundtrack is the shit! KK fan & now a CK fan for life!
I be watched since the beginning. My Mom just watched Cobra Kai. She just Loves The Karate Kid. But she watched one episode with me with me. Then went to her room and watched ALL three seasons. She said it is Fantastic. Brought her back to the day she skipped school to watch The Karate Kid. She cried when the Original Cobra Kai guy Tommy died. She laughed at the Bananarama pancakes. I hope you make a forth season. So does she.
Ralph looks exactly what my nephew will look like in 30 years ☺️
I honestly want them to open their dojo in real life and I will join it.
Everyone is saying Macchio looks amazing for almost 60 but Zabka is 55 and looks amazing as well, to my knowledge Zabka actually has been practicing martial arts all these years.
i'm having such a crush on Johnny all over again!!
I was unsure of this when it first came out but once I got into it I was totally hooked. It's just the perfect marriage of the 80s to current day
Billy Zabka could easily play Chuck Norris in a biographical
Love jhonny❤
"GET EM A BODY BAGGGG!!! YEAHHHH!!hahaha" - best quote of the entire trilogy, 2 sequels, and all 3 seasons of Cobra Kai
